Riding the high of its inaugural season, the Delhi Premier League has returned to entertain the fans with its second season. The Delhi Premier League generated immense excitement in its inaugural season and also provided a platform for those seeking opportunities to shine. Subsequently, young talents like Priyansh Arya and Digvesh Rathi emerged as the breakout stars and earned IPL contracts with their respective franchises. To continue pushing the talent from the grassroots level, the second season of the DPL is underway. The tournament began on August 2 and will last till August 31, 2025. Riding on the success of the first season, two new sides- New Delhi Tigers and Outer Delhi Warriors- have been added to the list of teams, making it a total of 8 for the season. Dhull, who smashed the first century in the DPL 2025 season in the last match against North Delhi Strikers last week, scored an unbeaten 55 against New Delhi Tigers on Monday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi to a nine-wicket win with 7 overs to spare. Chasing a modest target of 125, the Kings got off to a whirlwind start thanks to openers Yash Dhull and Siddharth Joon, who stitched together a 57-run stand in just 4.4 overs. Joon was particularly aggressive, thrilling the crowd with his clean hitting as he smashed 45 off 24 deliveries, laced with two boundaries and five sixes, before being dismissed. After Joon's departure, Yash Dhull continued to anchor the innings alongside Yugal Saini, guiding the Kings safely to the target. Dhull brought up a composed half-century, finishing unbeaten and showcasing his growing stature as a reliable top-order batter in this season. He has scored 826 runs in 28 T20 matches at an average of 41.3 with five fifties to his name. Dhull missed most of the inaugural DPL season in 2024 due to a heart surgery. But on Sunday, he became the first centurion in DPL 2025 with a brilliant knock of 101 off 56 balls against a Strikers side led by Team India and KKR pacer Harshit Rana. He smashed 8 fours and seven sixes in his maiden DPL century. On Monday, Dhull clobbered 2 sixes and 7 fours in his 34-ball 55 as Central Delhi Kings overhauled the target in just 13 overs.

Some famous surnames are expected to battles it in the Delhi Premier League auction on July 5. Aaryaveer Kohli, 15, son of Virat Kohli 's elder brother Vikas Kohli, is part of the initial draft of players shortlisted for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) auction scheduled for July 5. Aaryavir Sehwag, 17-year-old son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, is also in the graft. Aaryavir Sehwag has represented Delhi at the Under-19 level and slammed 297 against Meghalaya. He is placed in Category B, where his younger brother Vedant, 15, an off-spinner who played for Delhi Under-16s, is also there. Aaryaveer Kohli, on the other hand, is a leg-spinner. He, like his famous uncle did during his formative years, trains under Raj Kumar Sharma. Aaryaveer is also slotted in Category C. He was a registered player for Delhi Under-16s last season. Meanwhile, two new teams have been added in the Delhi Premier League - Outer Delhi and New Delhi. In the 2024 DPL, South Delhi Superstarz, East Delhi Riders, Central Delhi Kings, North Delhi Strikers, West Delhi Lions and Purani Dilli 6 were the teams. Players like Ayush Badoni, Anuj Rawat, Priyansh Arya, Ishant Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Digvesh Rathi, Harshit Rana, Prince Yadav, Suyash Sharma competed in the 2024 DPL T20. East Delhi Riders clinched a thrilling three-run win over South Delhi Superstarz to win the inaugural Delhi Premier League T20 in New Delhi. A late assault from Mayank Rawat (78 not out off 39) including seven fours and six sixes powered East Delhi Riders to 183 for 5 before three wicket hauls from Simarjeet Singh and Raunak Waghela sealed their intense win on Sunday night. The South Delhi Superstarz faltered early in the run chase. Despite being on course with their run rate, they lost the dangerous duo of Priyansh Arya (6 off 2) and Ayush Badoni (7 off 5) to Bhagwan Singh and Simarjeet Singh respectively.
