Bahrain Victorious ready for Mur de Huy as La Fleche Wallone returns
Wednesday sees the 89th running of the midweek Ardennes classic, La Flèche Wallonne. This year the peloton faces a demanding 205km course stacked with 11 climbs and over 3100 meters of elevation gain. It all builds towards a triple ascent of the Mur de Huy; the infamous brutal 1.2 km 'wall' averaging a 9.6% gradient, with pitches hitting 22%. As ever, it will be the ultimate decider in a race where timing, teamwork, and tenacity make the difference.
This year, Bahrain Victorious line up with a team built for depth, balance, a n d later a c e impact. L e n n y Martinez, fresh from altitude training and eyeing bigger goals later this spring, will lead the squad to the punishing final ramps. Backing him are a trio of punchy climbers: Pello Bilbao, Santiago Buitrago, and Edoardo Zambanini, each of whom is capable of lighting up the final 50km himself, should the right moment arise.
In the earlier phases, Mathijs Paasschens, Robert Stannard, and Roman Ermakov will control the race and set the tone, with the aim of ensuring Bahrain stay in touch when it matters most.
A key change this year is the return of the Côte de Cherave, positioned just before the final Mur ascent. Its comeback adds a tactical twist, offering teams an opportunity to shake up the race before the final showdown.
Sports Director Roman Kreuziger said, 'There are 11 climbs in the 205 km race course with 3100 m of elevation. Mur de Huy is the famous climb that we'll go over 3 times. Once we cross the finish line for the first time, then we have 2 full laps ahead of us, very similar to the race of 2 years ago. Last year they were repairing the road at the Cherave climb, but this year it's back, and that is the climb before the Mur de Huy, which can be good for us.'

Martinez climbs into Tour de Romandie lead with penultimate stage win
AFP | Thyon French rider Lenny Martinez pulled on the Tour de Romandie leader's yellow jersey after winning yesterday's hilly fourth and penultimate stage. The 21-year-old crossed the line ahead of Portugal's Joao Almeida after a gruelling climb to the summit finish at Thyon 2000. It was the eighth career win for the Bahrain Victorious rider and second on the World Tour after the Paris-Nice fifth stage. 'Every year I just get better and better, and here I am wearing the yellow jersey,' said Martinez. 'To be the leader of such a stage race, and also to win a stage, is just incredible.' Second in Friday's stage, Martinez conquered the first four climbs of the day, making the difference in the final 20km of the 128km mountainous stage from Sion. Martinez duelled with Almeida and Italian Lorenzo Fortunato over the final three kilometres before accelerating to the line. 'I have good acceleration, I know Joao does too and in the end it was a bit of a cool day,' said Martinez of the drop in temperature and wet roads after a week of sunshine. Overall, the Frenchman snatched the yellow jersey from compatriot Alex Baudin, to build a two-second lead on Fortunato with Almeida a further second adrift, heading into Sunday's final 17km time trial in Geneva.

HRH Crown Prince, Prime Minister deputes HH Shaikh Nasser to attend Ironman closing ceremony
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, deputed His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), to attend the closing ceremony of the Middle East Ironman 70.3 Bahrain. The ceremony, held at Reef Island, was attended by His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE); His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club (REHC) High Committee, and member of SCYS, alongside senior officials. On the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad highlighted that the event aligns with Bahrain's continued progress and achievements under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. His Highness underscored the Kingdom's position as a hub for regional and global sporting events and its ongoing development in sports.
