‘Holy Cow:' Woman Goes to Pump Gas. Then She Saves $1/Gallon With Amazon Prime

Motor 15 days ago
A woman recently shared details of an Amazon Prime partnership with BP that allows members to save $1/gallon of gas at BP, Amoco, and AMPM gas stations.
TikTok user Lady K (
@theycallmeladyk
) walked her followers through the deal in a video posted on July 3.
'Alright, here we go,' she says. 'We're gonna hit rewards. And then loyalty number. Put your phone number in. You have your account linked with Prime.'
The pump goes from showing a price of $2.83 per gallon to $1.83 per gallon. 'Wow. Holy cow. That's crazy,' Lady K says.
A Reminder While She's Filling Up
'As a reminder, while I'm filling up, if you haven't seen my previous videos. July 3-6, Prime members can save at BP, AMPM, and Amoco gas stations. A dollar off a gallon of gas up to 35 gallons,' Lady K says.
'To begin Prime Day,' she says. 'So make sure you sign up. Use the Earnify app, which is BP's app, and link those.'
She then shows a photo of her final transaction. She paid $25 for 13.6 gallons of gas.
In the caption, she writes, 'This is crazy. Amazon Prime members! Link those accounts and goooo!!'
Prime Fuel Savings Deal
This
Fuel Savings Offer
for $1 off per gallon of gas is an early Prime Day deal that ends on July 6. But if you miss the deal, don't fret.
Prime members can always save a total of $.10 per gallon at BP, Amoco, and participating AMPM gas stations. With the Earnify app, which is
BP's rewards program
, members can save an additional $.5. As the TikToker said, you enter your phone number or activate the Earnify app at the pump to get the discount.
Of course, as several commenters pointed out, there is some fine print to be aware of here. It's important to note this is a one-time offer, the savings calculation is based on the average light-duty economy car, and you'll lose access if you cancel your Prime membership.
Gas Price Blues
In the comments section, some viewers expressed shock at the relatively low cost of gas in Lady K's area.
'The fact that your gas is under $3 to begin with,' wrote one driver. A second user agreed, 'Meanwhile, in California, I paid $4.89 a gallon yesterday.'
A fellow Amazon Prime member offered a bit of advice. 'It's only one time, so bring all of your cars so you can use the gallon max. My wife and I bring both our cars and fill up both when I have discounts on gas,' they wrote.
In a direct message to
Motor1
, Lady K said she is overwhelmed, surprised, and thrilled by the response to her video, which has over 1 million views as of this writing.
'I had been sharing about their fuel program since May,' she said. 'In June, they were offering $.20 off gas on Fridays and every little bit helps. I had just learned that this was an option … and just wanted to share it with others for awareness.'
She continued, 'When I went on the 3rd to get gas, I assumed the gas station would be busy. I pulled in and it was just my car filling up. That's when I realized people just don't know about it and I wanted that to change.'
'I'm happy if one extra person benefited off of getting that discount from the video. Every time someone mentions that they got the deal it makes my day, because that's what I wanted—to help people.'
Motor1
reached out to Amazon and BP via email for comment. We'll be sure to update this if either responds.

Markel Group reports 2025 second quarter and six-months results

RICHMOND, Va., July 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Markel Group Inc. (NYSE:MKL) today reported its financial results for the second quarter of 2025. The Company also announced today it filed its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2025 with the Securities and Exchange Commission. "We've made meaningful changes across our business in recent years, all with the goal of consistently compounding your capital," said Tom Gayner, Chief Executive Officer of Markel Group. "Our results included $1.4 billion in operating income through the first half of the year. Also, this quarter, we took another step to simplify the structure of our insurance business by placing reinsurance into run-off. That decision enables the team to focus more clearly on the core underwriting activities where we have distinct strengths." The following table presents the Company's summary financial data, by engine, for the quarters and six months ended June 30, 2025 and Ended June 30, Six Months Ended June 30, (dollars in thousands, except per share amounts) 2025202420252024 Operating revenues:Insurance $ 2,232,067$ 2,148,268$ 4,419,880$ 4,333,986 Investments:Net investment income 228,126220,454463,727437,658 Net investment gains (losses) 580,223(130,017)431,152772,264 Other 14,0649,3579,45430,203 Total Investments 822,41399,794904,3331,240,125 Markel Ventures 1,548,2861,453,7812,677,6582,594,387 Total operating revenues $ 4,602,766$ 3,701,843$ 8,001,871$ 8,168,498 Operating income:Insurance (1) $ 128,412$ 176,925$ 273,448$ 312,750 Investments:Net investment income 228,126220,454463,727437,658 Net investment gains (losses) 580,223(130,017)431,152772,264 Other 14,0649,3579,45430,203 Total Investments 822,41399,794904,3331,240,125 Markel Ventures 207,728177,498310,238281,413 Consolidated segment operating income (2) 1,158,553454,2171,488,0191,834,288 Amortization of acquired intangible assets (51,213)(44,237)(98,155)(88,522) Total operating income $ 1,107,340$ 409,980$ 1,389,864$ 1,745,766 Comprehensive income to shareholders $ 867,511$ 244,356$ 1,215,181$ 1,152,741 Diluted net income per common share $ 49.67$ 18.62$ 61.60$ 94.24 Markel Insurance combined ratio 96.9 %93.8 %96.5 %94.5 % (1) See "Supplemental Financial Information" for the components of our Insurance engine operating income. Highlights of results from the quarter and six months: The changes in operating revenues and operating income for both the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2025 were largely driven by market value movements within our equity portfolio. Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) require that we include unrealized gains and losses on equity securities in net income. This may lead to short-term volatility in revenues and operating income that temporarily obscures our underlying operating performance. Net investment income increased 3% and 6% for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2025, respectively, reflecting a higher yield and higher average holdings of fixed maturity securities in 2025. Markel Ventures operating revenues and operating income for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2025 increased, reflecting contributions from the acquisitions of Valor and EPI, as well as improved performance at our construction services businesses. The increase in Markel Insurance's combined ratio for the quarter ended June 30, 2025 was primarily driven by adverse development in 2025 on our run-off risk-managed directors and officers product lines and on the Global Reinsurance division, which we announced is being placed into run-off. This adverse development in the second quarter of 2025 resulted in less overall net favorable development on prior accident years loss reserves in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the second quarter of 2024. Underwriting results for the first half of 2025 included $60.9 million of net losses and loss adjustment expenses, or one-and-a-half points on the Markel Insurance combined ratio, attributed to the January 2025 wildfires in southern California (California Wildfires) compared to no catastrophe losses in the first half of 2024. Excluding losses attributed to the California Wildfires, the Markel Insurance combined ratio in the first half of 2025 was consistent with the same period of 2024. We believe our financial performance is most meaningfully measured over longer periods of time, which tends to mitigate the effects of short-term volatility and also aligns with the long-term perspective we apply to operating our businesses and making investment decisions. SOS Technologies' EagleEye™ AI Platform expands its AI threat detection platform in schools and houses of worship across the U.S.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., July 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- SOS Technologies, an industry leader in AI-driven video analytics and emergency response solutions, today announced a major milestone in public safety technology adoption: the deployment of its flagship EagleEye™ AI Threat Detection and Management Platform. SOS Technologies continues to expand its AI threat detection platform in schools and houses of worship in several states. This announcement underscores the growing demand for proactive, intelligent surveillance solutions as institutions across sectors respond to the rising threat of public violence and workplace security incidents. EagleEye represents a major evolution in real-time situational awareness. Built on a self-learning AI engine, the platform offers comprehensive threat detection capabilities including firearm recognition, fighting/altercation detection, slip and fall analysis, crowd formation tracking, suspicious object abandonment, loitering, intruder detection, fire and smoke alerts, and advanced facial identification with BOLO (Be On the Lookout) and forensic search tools for persons of interest. Transforming Cameras Into Active Sentinels Unlike traditional passive camera systems, the EagleEye platform transforms existing surveillance infrastructure into a live, intelligent threat-monitoring grid without the need for costly hardware upgrades or investments. Powered by SOS Technologies' AWS FedRAMP-authorized GovCloud architecture, the platform seamlessly integrates with virtually any video management system (VMS) or other AI threat detection solutions, and it enables remote monitoring centers to reduce false positives, streamline operational workflows, and improve real-time decision-making. Unifying Detection with Dispatch: EagleEye AI + SmartSOS™ The EagleEye platform is designed to work in tandem with SmartSOS™, SOS Technologies' groundbreaking Emergency Alert System. The platform is the first and only cloud-based public safety platform that is GovRAMP-certified and has been successfully integrated directly into a major U.S. 911 police dispatch center. This unique capability enables verified public safety events, such as a detected weapon or intruder, to be instantly routed to law enforcement or GSOC, reducing dispatch times from several minutes to less than three seconds. The platform can also be configured to automatically lock facility doors, send alerts to building occupants, and notify security and law enforcement simultaneously, giving administrators critical time to act before tragedy unfolds. "This week's heartbreaking incident at 375 Park Avenue in New York City is a stark reminder of how urgently we need smarter, faster public safety technology," said Travis Leonardi, CEO of SOS Technologies. "EagleEye's gun detection system would have immediately flagged the presence of a weapon, potentially preventing loss of life by triggering real-time lockdown protocols and alerting 911 with no human delay. "Our mission at SOS is to stop threats before they escalate, and we are proud to support schools, places of worship, and major corporations in that shared commitment." A New Standard in Public Safety As threats to public spaces become increasingly complex and dynamic, institutions are turning to technologies that not only observe but also analyze, predict, and respond in real time. With the deployment of EagleEye and SmartSOS, SOS Technologies is setting a new standard for comprehensive, scalable safety infrastructure, offering both situational intelligence and verified emergency response through a single, unified platform. About SOS Technologies SOS Technologies is redefining the intersection of AI, video surveillance, and emergency response. With clients spanning healthcare, education, government, and enterprise sectors, SOS provides cutting-edge solutions that enhance public safety and operational readiness. The company's GovRAMP-certified, cloud-native architecture ensures secure, scalable deployments that meet the most rigorous compliance and integration requirements.
