'I've sold my Oasis ticket for opening night after Liam's unacceptable post'
A fan has been left "heartbroken" and said she opted to sell her ticket for the opening night of Oasis ' reunion tour after seeing a now-deleted post on social media from Liam Gallagher. She's spoken out ahead of the gig tonight.
Just days ahead of the show at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Liam, 52, faced a backlash for using a racial slur on X recently. Fans were quick to react over his use of the offensive term, which is used to mock or imitate languages spoken in China, people from east Asia or of east Asian descent, with one person responding to him: "Liam, you can't say that."
Following the incident, Liam removed the tweet and apologised for any offence caused. He wrote: "Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn't intentional you know I love you all and I do not discriminate. Peace and love LG x".
Despite his apology, some fans are still upset. They include Yue Xiong, 23, who is originally from Shanghai in China but now lives in London, told WalesOnline that she had been a fan of the band since she was 16. She even told the outlet that their music had "saved" her life.
Yue however condemned Liam's remark as "completely not acceptable". The Goldsmiths student said she had decided to part ways with her ticket to the opening night of the Oasis Live '25 Tour, which kicks off in Cardiff tonight.
She travelled to the city on Thursday for the day to protest. She said: "I've been I've been a huge fan since 2017. All of my adolescence I was just listening to Oasis – it got me through life and the music really saved my life."
Yue continued: "But I kind of stopped being a fan two days ago because what Liam said is completely not acceptable. As an Asian and as a Chinese person I could not deal with it just by keeping silent and accepting what he was saying.
"I just can't participate in that anymore. Otherwise it will be disrespectful for my own community where I come from."
Yue went on to express disappointment over the reaction to Liam's remarks, saying: "I felt people would need to speak up about it. So if no-one talks about it it just add more pressure to everything. But I felt the need to say something. It is not okay for someone to say something extremely racial, targeting an Asian community, on a social platform."
She said that, after the incident, she decided to sell her ticket on Wednesday as a "gesture", two days before she was due to attend the concert. Though saddened by parting with her ticket, she told the publication she would have been "completely heartbroken" if she had gone to the gig.
Yue mentioned to the outlet she had met Noel Gallagher several times and issued an apology to the musician for missing the show. She shared that she still admires him and his work.
Speaking about Liam's apology though, she said: "It was not sincere. It was not really an apology. I see it more as a PR strategy but it's not even enough for a PR move because what he said was extremely controversial and when people pointed it out he said: 'Whatever'. He didn't see it as a problem. He then deleted that tweet. So he definitely feels it is not appropriate for him to say anything like that."

Although Yue said she won't be at the concert, she made her presence felt in Cardiff the day before the event, standing in protest. Explaining her motivation, she said: "The C-word is not acceptable in any circumstances.
"If Liam said the N-word or anything against transgender people the media would stand up for that community. But it seems like it's okay for people to treat and make fun of the Asian community like that."
Yue told the outlet: "[The protest] is not coming out as an attack to Oasis but it's about defending our own right – it's about speaking up for our own community. It's about making the world right again."
She added: "My partner, he's white, his friends and people in the industry found it not acceptable. But they were just really surprised as nobody said anything about it. I've been talking to loads in the Chinese community fan groups. They're completely shattered, they're completely heartbroken."

They sounded like they certainly aren't getting on [in age] in terms of their music. "Never before has the body language of two brothers been studied quite so intensely. They came on stage tonight holding hands. They played their hearts out, and the crowd absolutely sang their hearts out. "They have absolutely delivered value for money." She stops to speak to two fans, Anna and Andy, as they leave the show to get their thoughts. "Absolutely incredible, like the most authentic, pure thing I have ever seen. Timing a trip to the bar or going to the loo was hard because every song was amazing," Andy says. Anna adds: "As we were walking out, I heard someone say they would pay £10,000 to see them and I think that says it all." The briefest of hugs as the show comes to a close As the night comes to a close, Oasis pick Champagne Supernova as their final song of the night. Our culture and entertainment reporter Gemma Peplow says: "A giant blow-up champagne bottle, Supermarket Sweep style, is being passed around the crowd, which is just a mass of people singing back. There was no reference to their fall-out or making up, but the gestures were there - lifting hands together as they walked out for the first time. Headlines and tweets of speculation and then confirmation of the reunion filled the screens as the show started. "This is happening," said one, repeatedly. In the end, it was all about the music. Liam has received criticism in the past for his voice not being what it once was during his solo or Beady Eye performances, but back on stage with his brother tonight he delivered exactly what fans would have hoped for - a raw, steely-eyed performance, snarling vocals, and the swagger that makes him arguably the greatest frontman of his day. In the mid-section, Liam takes his break for Noel to sing Talk Tonight, Half The World Away and Little By Little; the tempo slows but there is by no means a lull, with the fans singing all his words back to him. Liam returns for hits including Stand By Me, Slide Away, Whatever and Live Forever, before sending the crowd wild (or even wilder) with Rock And Roll Star. When the reunion announcement was made last summer, it quickly became overshadowed by the controversy of dynamic pricing causing prices to rocket. As he has done on X before, Liam addressed the issue on stage with a joke. "Was it worth the £4,000 you paid for the ticket?" he shouted at one point. "Yeah," the crowd shouts back; seemingly all is forgiven. After Rock And Roll Star, the dream that very quickly became a reality for this band, Noel introduced the rest of the group, calling Bonehead a "legend". Then he acknowledges all their young fans, some who maybe weren't even born when they split.
