Delhi: NDA CMs, Dy CMs arrive for alliance meeting chaired by PM Modi
New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from BJP-led NDA states arrive for a high-profile meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ashoka Hotel in the national capital on Sunday.
Chief Ministers from across India from the 19 NDA-ruled states arrive at the venue, with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma, Tripura CM Manik Saha, Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Goa CM Pramod Sawant, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel all reaching the spot earlier today.
Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy CMs Vijay Sinha and Samrat Choudhary, Chhattisgarh Deputy CMs Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida, Maharashtra Deputy CMs Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, Nagaland Deputy CMs TR Zeliang and Yanthungo Patton, Rajasthan Deputy CMs Prem Chand Bairwa and Diya Kumari, and Uttar Pradesh Deputy CMs Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya also arrive at the venue.
BJP National President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also arrived at the venue for the meeting.
As per sources, the meeting is being organised to brief the leaders about the Operation Sindoor and India's broader security strategy following the recent developments.
The meeting comes days after India's military carried out strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) under 'Operation Sindoor'.
'A meeting has been convened to brief the leaders about India's strike on terror camps in Pakistan, Operation Sindoor and understanding on cessation of hostilities. All the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers have been invited for the meeting. This will give a strong message in terms of national security,' a source familiar with the matter told ANI.
The meeting is being seen as a coordinated attempt to reinforce the NDA government's stance on national security and send a unified message after India's counter-terror operation across the border.
The meeting comes a day after the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital on the theme of 'Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat @2047'. (ANI)

SilverLine or alternative? Kerala's wait for semi-high-speed rail to continue
Kochi: It seems the state's dream of having a semi-high-speed rail line is unlikely to become a reality soon, with neither Centre nor the state govt taking any concrete steps to take any of the two proposals forward. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The discussion chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan held with Union railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw earlier this week did not cover either the SilverLine proposal or the alternative semi-high-speed rail project proposed by Metroman E Sreedharan. As railways is yet to take a favourable stand on Sreedharan's proposal even after four months, the state govt's special representative in Delhi, K V Thomas, has requested Sreedharan to meet both Vaishnaw and railway officials. However, Sreedharan's stand is that he cannot approach Centre unless the state govt officially entrusts him to do so, demanding that the project proposal be taken up for further action. It seems the state govt is not planning to hold any further discussions with Sreedharan regarding the alternative proposal. The state govt submitted a draft of the semi-high-speed rail line proposal, prepared by Sreedharan, to the Union govt on Feb 10. The alternative proposal was submitted after the railway ministry informed that it could not approve the SilverLine project proposed by K-Rail. "It's been four months since the state govt submitted Sreedharan's proposal to Centre. But during the meeting, the proposal wasn't even mentioned or taken up for discussion. The only way to revive the project now is through pressure from Sreedharan himself. I've requested him to meet Vaishnav or railway officials directly to explain the project's benefits," said Thomas, who was present alongside Vijayan during the meeting with the railway minister. He also expressed unhappiness over Vijayan's recent statement expressing hope over SilverLine. "The chief minister's recent statement that SilverLine will become a reality indicates that the govt is still focused on that project. State govt representatives have not held any discussions with me before or after their recent meeting with the railway minister. I cannot approach Centre directly regarding my proposal unless the state govt officially requests me to take the initiative. If they do, I am ready to hold discussions with Centre," Sreedharan told TOI. Minister V Abdurahman, who is in charge of railways, said the govt was not opposed to considering Sreedharan's proposal. He, however, did not give a clear answer when asked whether the state would request Sreedharan to hold further discussions with Centre. "Kerala is open to implementing either the SilverLine or Sreedharan's alternative project. SilverLine is not a closed chapter," he said.

Our doors are open for Badgujar: Bawankule
Nashik: Despite significant internal opposition, including from Nashik West MLA Seema Hiray and other BJP functionaries, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has indicated that the door remains open for Sudhakar Badgujar — the recently expelled Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader — to join the saffron party. However, Bawankule, speaking in Nashik at a workshop for over 550 party office-bearers from the Nashik division, asserted that an individual is not a criminal until proven so in a court of law. When asked about Badgujar potentially joining the party, Bawankule said, "The doors are open to all those who want to join the party." He acknowledged the existing "bitterness, misgivings, and misunderstandings" between Badgujar and current BJP leaders, citing their past electoral contest in the assembly elections. Bawankule added that he and Girish Mahajan were "looking into the matter". He emphasized that no deadline had been set for a decision on Badgujar's inclusion. "It will take time. After all, the party is striving for the development of society and the country, and we want to increase the party bases. We will decide appropriately and accordingly if anybody wants to join us without any conditions," Bawankule said. In response to the question that party functionaries felt accepting Badgujar into the party fold would malign the party image, Bawankule said, "Making allegations against a person is one thing, and conviction by the court is another. I personally believe that no one should judge any person based on allegations." Minister of State L. Murugan meets Vietnamese delegation
India and Vietnam on Thursday (June 5, 2025) agreed to step up cooperation in the media and entertainment sector during a meeting held between Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, L. Murugan, and a delegation of high-ranking officials from Vietnam. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Polit Bureau member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and chairperson of the CPV's Central Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation. The meeting was also attended by I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and other senior officials of the Ministry. 'India and Vietnam share traditionally close and warm bilateral relations. In 2022, the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The India - Vietnam bilateral relations were elevated in the year 2016 to the level of 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Vietnam,' a government release said. 'Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia lauded India's impressive growth as the world's fourth largest economy and emphasised the strong friendship and partnership between both the countries,' it said, adding that it was proposed to have programmes for enhanced cooperation between media organisations of both sides.
