Sambhavna Seth, in a recent podcast, accused her doctors of medical negligence during her pregnancy.
Popular YouTuber and television actress Sambhavna Seth, along with her husband Avinash Mishra, endured a heartbreaking loss in 2024 when she suffered a miscarriage. The tragedy struck just a day before the couple had planned to share their pregnancy news on social media. In a recent podcast appearance, Sambhavna opened up about her IVF journey, the circumstances surrounding the miscarriage in December 2024 and the emotional toll of losing her unborn child.
In a conversation with Gauahar Khan, Sambhavna Seth alleged medical negligence on the part of her doctors. She said that she had repeatedly informed them about excessive bleeding during her pregnancy.
She said, 'We were so excited, as the next day was the announcement. Sirf ek scan tha, usse pehle mere 2–3 scans ho chuke the, bleeding kaafi baar ho chuki thi, and all was fine. Jab main scan ke liye gayi, humein laga sab theek hoga. Doctors ne bataya nahi ki IVF mein bohot saari bleeding hoti hai. (There was only one scan, before that I had had 2-3 scans, I had been bleeding many times, and everything was fine. When I went for the scan, I thought everything would be fine. The doctors did not tell me that there is a lot of bleeding in IVF.)"
Recalling one night when she bled profusely, she said, 'Ek raat ko main uth gayi, aur main zor se chila ke Avinash ko bulaya. Maine dekha ki baalti bhar blood nikal raha tha. (One night I woke up, and I shouted and called Avinash. I saw a bucket full of blood coming out.) I told him, 'It's gone,' because I had no idea. The next day we did a scan, and they said everything was okay."
Elaborating further, the actress said, 'Fifteen days earlier, I was feeling unwell and informed my doctor, but he told me it was an arthritis issue. However, my arthritis specialist disagreed and said it was a sign of miscarriage. When we went to the doctor, she just said, 'Oh, so unfortunate.' Not even a 'sorry,' even though it was their mistake. I still remember her face. She said, 'You have so many problems again — arthritis, anxiety. We will try again, and this time we will do the PGT test.'"
Despite enduring severe discomfort for several days during her first trimester, the actress said that her doctor repeatedly reassured her that everything was normal. But she later discovered that her unborn baby's heartbeat had stopped 15 days ago.

Deer deaths in Pune zoo due to Foot and Mouth Disease, says ICAR-NIFMD report

Pune, Jul 25 (PTI) Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) was the primary cause of death of 16 deer over a period of five days at Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in Maharashtra's Pune city, civic officials said on Friday quoting a medical report. The deer had died between July 10 and 14, following which bio-samples were sent to various laboratories, including ICAR-National Institute of Foot and Mouth Disease (ICAR-NIFMD) in Bhubaneswar in Odisha, they said. 'According to the report from National Foot and Mouth Disease Research Centre, the deer had contracted Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), which is the primary cause of their death," said a statement from Pune Municipal Corporation's Garden Department. FMD is a highly contagious viral disease affecting cloven-hoofed animals. PTI SPK BNM Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. IIT KGP director introduces SETU outreach initiative for students

Kolkata, Jul 25 (PTI) Following four unnatural student deaths on campus this year, IIT Kharagpur on Friday launched a mental health and wellness framework titled SETU — Support, Empathy, Transformation and Upliftment — aimed at creating a resilient, inclusive and student-driven support system. Christened SETU@IITKGP, a human-tech renaissance in higher education, it was formally launched on Friday by IIT Director Professor Suman Chakraborty. The initiative is designed not as a standalone support service, but as a deeply integrated, tech-powered and human-centric ecosystem, an institute spokesperson said. Meaning a bridge in Sanskrit, SETU is a metaphor for turning isolation to inclusion, vulnerability to strength, distress to resilience, mind to heart, tradition to technology. marking a bold paradigm shift, the spokesperson elaborated. The rollout follows the tragic deaths of four students in 2025 — Shaon Mallik (Jan 12), Aniket Walker (Apr 20), Mohammad Asif Qamar (May 4), and most recently Ritam Mondal (July 18) — which triggered widespread concern about the mental health and academic stress among students. The spokesperson said, 'SETU offers one-on-one therapy, psychiatric care, group sessions, 24/7 online counselling (via YourDOST) and campus-wide outreach without stigma. It also includes an AI-powered emotional health monitoring embedded in halls, academics enabling real-time, culturally sensitive support through anonymous check-ins and early-alert systems." The initiative also encompasses peer-led empowerment through groups like welfare committees and hostel-level units, making wellbeing a decentralized student-driven culture. Agency: PTI Ranchi, July 25 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari on Friday directed the School Education Secretary to initiate the process for establishing an additional Sainik School in the state. The directive was issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief secretary to review various proposals and issues concerning Sainik School Tilaiya. 'As part of infrastructure development, a new water supply scheme worth Rs 9.49 crore has received technical approval from the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation," a statement from the state government said. Instructions were issued to submit a proposal for the construction of a sewage treatment plant at the school, it said, adding that the Building Construction Department has also been directed to undertake maintenance of staff quarters on the campus. A proposal from the school administration requesting that the state government bear expenses related to pensions, family pensions, National Pension Scheme (NPS), and other staff benefits at an estimated Rs 7 crore was also discussed, it said.
