Rangers Hold 12th Overall Pick After Draft Lottery With A Big Decision To Make
The New York Rangers will hold the 12th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft on June 27.
The Rangers were slotted to get the 11th overall pick but dropped one spot during the draft lottery.
Dylan Garand Likely To Serve As Marc-André Fleury's Backup For Team Canada At World Championship Dylan Garand will get the opportunity to display his skills on an international stage as he was named to Team Canada for the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship.
Now that the organization knows where they stand in the lottery, there's a big decision they'll have to make.
As part of the J.T. Miller trade, the Rangers have to give up either their 2025 or 2026 first-round pick.
Despite missing the playoffs this season, the Blueshirts still seem to have championship aspirations going into the 2025-26 campaign, so there's a good chance they finish with a better record hence a pick later in the first round.
However, if the Rangers decide to keep their pick in this year's draft and regress next season, that could be a costly decision that haunts the franchise.
Meanwhile, the New York Islanders won the draft lottery and will hold the first overall pick.

Booker T Reveals The Crowning Moment Of His Career: I Wouldn't Change It For Anything
Booker T has very fond memories of his run as 'King Bookah' in WWE. The King Booker character was created after Booker won the 2006 King Of The Ring tournament. The gimmick was comedic in tone, but Booker ultimately pulled off what he calls his 'crowning moment' in WWE during this run. Advertisement Booker appeared on the Club 520 Podcast at WWE World and mentioned being very popular around the time of his match at WrestleMania 19 against Triple H. He mentioned being even more over as King Bookah a few years later and highlighted how much winning a World Championship under the WWE banner meant to him. Booker T believes his King Booker run outshined WrestleMania 19 'At WrestleMania 19 against Hunter [Triple H], you said I was over. I should have won. Sh*t… in 2006, I was way more over then, bro. King Booker, King Booker—I mean, come on, I mean the greatest king of them all, the most revered king of them all. You know what, man, that was some of the best times, the best time in my wrestling career, with my lovely queen, Sharmell, at my side. She actually won Miss Black America in Indianapolis, Indiana, as well. That was a moment for us, man. Rey Mysterio, I give him big props, man, because what a worker. What a worker, man. I couldn't have done it without him. But that moment, that was my crowning moment. 'That was the moment for me that really put the icing on the cake as far as my career goes. You know, I don't know if you guys know the stats or anything like that, but out of the history and the annals of time, as far as the King of the Ring tournament, I'm the only king to ever win the [WWE] Heavyweight Championship. I'm the only one. And that wasn't by accident or anything like that; that was by design. I said after King Booker, they're gonna have to break the damn mold because there'll never be another King like me ever again. And I proved that. I proved that. So, no, man, it was a great time in my career. I wouldn't change it for anything.' Series Preview: Rays vs Rangers
Fresh off of a series split with the Houston Astros, the Tampa Bay Rays travel back home to Tampa where they'll take on the other team from the Lone Star State, the Texas Rangers in a three game set. The Rays enter play on Tuesday with a 30-29 record and have won seven of their last 10; they are 6.5 games back of the New York Yankees for the division lead and 2 games back in the Wild Card chase. Advertisement Meanwhile, the Rangers are 29-31 and have lost six of their last 10 games but they did just take two of three against the St Louis Cardinals. Texas is now four games back of the Seattle Mariners in the AL West and are 3.5 games back in the Wild Card. These two teams met up earlier this season for a three game series in Texas in which the Rangers swept the Rays. Since then, the trio of Josh Smith, Josh Jung, and Wyat Langford have emerged as the top players on the team with each player producing around 1.3 fWAR and 114 wRC+. The veterans have struggled with Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, and Marcus Semien all performing well below league average and Joc Pederson (currently on the IL) looking like a disastrous free agent signing. The starting pitching has been fantastic with a trio of arms, Nathan Eovaldi, Tyler Mahle, and Jacob deGrom, all providing ace-like results. In the bullpen, Chris Martin, Hoby Milner, and Robert Garcia have all been great as well. The Rays will miss deGrom and Eovaldi's turn in the rotation fortunately, but do have to face Mahle.
