Indian agents linked to Myanmar cyber crime den join stir with victims; trapped include youth from Hyderabad & Sri Lanka; seek Centre's help
HYDERABAD: In a first, Indian agents have joined hands with their victims trapped in the notorious cyber crime hub at KK Park compound in Myanmar's Myawaddy district to send out an SOS, requesting rescue.
In an audio message to TOI, one of the victims from Telangana said: "On June 20, we staged a protest. Around 200 security men thrashed us. They took away phones of those who took videos and damaged them. Some people were put in dark rooms."
"We are a group of 70-80 people and want to come out (of the compound). Apart from Indians, including some from Hyderabad, there are Sri Lankans too. We had already complained to the embassy and are awaiting response.
Those who are working from Telangana are still luring people. They said it was data entry work, but once we entered the compound, we were forced into cyber crime," the victim added.
Among those who joined the protest was Rajashaker Shyam Rao, a native of Telangana, who is facing criminal cases in India for his alleged involvement in cyber fraud recruitment.
'Not received any fresh distress calls'
Sources in the Indian embassy in Myanmar stated that they have not received any fresh distress calls through official emergency channels.

The embassy has not yet made a public statement regarding the new protest.
Earlier, the Karimnagar police had arrested one Hitesh Somaiah of Gujarat, who was accused of playing a key role in the Myanmar cyber fraud racket. He was apprehended and later produced before a court on a prisoner transit warrant in another case, Karimnagar police said.
The case was first filed on Feb 23 based on a complaint filed by Kokkirala Lakshma Reddy, whose son Kokkirala Madhukar Reddy, is one of the victims who was subsequently rescued.
Madhukar Reddy, 35, was sent illegally into KK2 Park compound where he and 100 other Indian youth were confined under armed watch. Inside the facility, they were coerced into cyber fraud operations targeting Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the US. Also, their passports were seized, making escape impossible. Those who resisted were subjected to electric shocks, beatings, and death threats.

Location tracking devices to be installed in Hry's public transport vehicles for women's safety
Chandigarh: To strengthen the safety of women and children in Haryana, the state govt has decided to equip all public transport vehicles with vehicle location tracking devices (VLTD). This decision was taken during a review meeting of the transport department held here today under the chairmanship of chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday. Former municipal president Santosh Kadam held in Tuljapur drug racket case
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Dharashiv district police on Sunday arrested Tuljapur municipal council's former president Santosh Kadam, the office-bearer of a political party, in connection with the Tuljapur drug trafficking case, which came to light on Feb 14 after the arrest of three people from Tamalwadi village with 45 grams of MD. Police seized synthetic drugs worth Rs 2.5 lakh on Feb 15, uncovering a network spanning Solapur, Naldurg, Pune and Mumbai. A priest from Tuljabhavani temple was among the main peddlers. The case now involves 38 accused, with 22 arrested and 16 still absconding, including some prominent individuals who have been on the run for two months. Dharashiv superintendent of police Ritu Khokar told TOI, "Kadam was named as an accused in this case and included in the chargesheet filed earlier in connection with the case. He, however, remained at large till the arrest was made last night (Sunday night) from Akluj in Solapur district." Tamalwadi police have arrested political party worker Jeevan Salunke from Solapur in the case. Elderly couple attacked, grocery shop robbed, cops suspect gang
1 2 Pune: A 70-year-old woman ended up with a fractured leg and her husband (75) was also injured after three men barged into their house and attacked them with iron rods before fleeing with 60g of gold jewellery worth Rs3 lakh at Kathapur village in Ambegaon taluka, about 77km from the city, in the early hours of Saturday. A case related to armed robbery and similar other charges was registered by the Pargaon police in rural Pune. The police are investigating the likely involvement of a gang that committed another robbery at Ale Phata a day before to this incident. Assistant inspector Netaji Gandhare of the Pargaon police said the elderly couple, Ganesh Jadhav and his wife, Kamal, were residents of Ganesh Vasti in Kathapur. The three men entered their house by breaking the grilles of a window at the backside. They woke up the couple and tried to snatch the woman's gold jewellery. "When the victim started resisting them, the trio thrashed her with iron rods. Kamal Jadhav's leg suffeerd a fracture in the attack. They also thrashed her husband with the iron rod, causing injuries to his back," Gandhare said. He said the men then snatched Kamal's gold jewellery worth Rs3 lakh and fled. "Their accomplices broke into the shop and made off with cash and cigarettes, collectively worth Rs2.7 lakh. The theft came to light after the guard called the owner," the officer said. An officer from the Pune Rural police's crime branch said the police were investigating if the same gang was involved in both cases. "We have started collecting CCTV footage and working on some clues," he said.
