Gail Kim pulled herself from the show out of caution, and promised to make it up to NWA fans in the future.
'I am sorry to have to announce that I cannot make it to the Crockett Cup today in Philadelphia. I hate to let the fans down and most of all Nattie and Kenzie,' Gail wrote on Twitter/X. 'But post cruise last Sunday, I went down hard and have been suffering severe flu/covid symptoms. I did not want to announce in hopes to make a full recovery by today. But I am still experiencing a high fever and have had to cancel this am.
'I promise to make it up to the NWA fans and Billy and hope to come back for another event. I am so disappointed as I was looking forward to being the referee for the women's championship title today. Wishing the best of luck to everyone in Philadelphia today and especially the ladies who I know will be bringing down the 2300 Arena tonight!'
Kenzie Paige highlights what Gail Kim has meant to her
NWA Women's World Champion Kenzie Paige spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of the Crockett Cup. Paige highlighted the mentor-like role Gail Kim took in her career, noting that Gail has always been there to give her guidance along the way.

'[I am a] huge Gail Kim fan. And I've also tried to [stay in contact] — I don't bother her much, but I have tried to stay in contact and send matches as I've progressed and gotten better. Because she is someone, personally, that I really care about her opinion. From when I was way younger, wrestling Jordynne Grace on the independent scene to now she's my special guest ref against Nattie Neidhart. For what it's worth, she's got to see a little bit of my growth and evolution as I say… That is a very big deal to me in my personal life.
'And to see everything kind of come into play, it's like all one big circle for me. So, to have her as a special guest ref once again,' Paige said. 'And like I said, I've tried to keep her up to date with what I am doing and everything I've done thus far. So, for her to be a part of this big moment and this big match-up is almost like God kind of set that up for me.'

Update On Kamille's AEW Absence, When She Might Return
Kamille hasn't been seen in AEW for months, but is she any closer to returning? The former NWA Women's Champion signed with AEW last year and was aligned with Mercedes Moné. That alliance was short-lived, and Kamille hasn't been seen since their split more than six months ago. Advertisement According to a new report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), those close to Kamille have been quiet about her inactivity in AEW, but it's apparently for a good reason. The outlet reports that similar to Wardlow, Kamille is also busy working on a television project that will 'have her busy through part of the summer.' It's unclear if Kamille met with Tony Khan and decided to keep her off TV until the project is completed, and talent was said to be 'in the dark' about her absence. Some reportedly felt that Tony Khan soured on the partnership with Moné. Other sources clarified that Mercedes was willing to work with Kamille and do a match. The match didn't happen, but it was at least discussed back in December 2024. Kamille left TV after splitting from Mercedes Moné on the November 27, 2024 episode of Dynamite. Is Kamille still under AEW contract? Kamille still has 'plenty of time left on her AEW deal,' but has not wrestled this year, aside from a battle royal appearance in February. Her last match in AEW was a loss to Kris Statlander on the October 30, 2024 episode of Dynamite. Advertisement She and Damaris Lewis spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard while promoting Queen of the Ring. The film features Kamille (billed as Kailey Latimer in the credits) as June Byers, while Lewis took on the role of Babs Wingo. Kamille was asked when fans could expect to see her back on TV. However, she indirectly declined to answer the question, and Lewis answered for her. 'My client has chosen not to comment on the matter at hand. But we are open to more questions,' Lewis replied. 'I f*cking hate CM Punk, I don't know what it is about that guy, I don't know if it's because he looks like Eddie Munster and I want to kick him in the f*cking face. Or the fact that everyone is like, 'He finally did it, he finally got his WrestleMania main event.' Good for you, old man. 60 years old, it took you what, 45 years to accomplish your one goal? It's about time. 'It's what they say about babies. When they have tantrums, you give them what they want so they shut the f*ck up. I'm pretty sure that's what happened. That's why he needed a favor from Paul Heyman. There is a reason he was never in the main event. You call yourself the Best in the World. I don't need to go around calling myself the Best in the World. People know I'm better than the best. 'I don't need to call myself Best in the World at 70 years old. People do it for me. You have [John] Cena talking about me, JBL, AJ Styles, legends talking about me. I don't need to do it for myself or say these things about me because people say it for me. My work speaks for itself. Here you go with CM Punk. I could go on this rant forever, but I need to stop myself.'
