They were arrested by Vizianagaram police in May for allegedly conspiring to carry out bomb blasts in Vizianagaram and other places in Andhra Pradesh and other states using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Siraj, who has an engineering degree, was arrested for possession of explosive materials, specifically ammonium nitrate, sulphur, and aluminium powder. He claimed he bought the explosive substances through an online platform, and named Sameer during his confession.
The two suspects have been booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosive Substances Act, and various sections of BNS.
After a local court granted their custody to police for seven days, they were interrogated by officials from the NIA, ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad), Counter Intelligence wing, and other agencies besides the police.
The agencies gathered crucial information about financial support to Siraj and Sameer from foreign handlers in Saudi Arabia and Oman. The two youths reportedly confessed to having connections with some Jihadi groups. Siraj said he received bomb-making training in Saudi Arabia, while Sameer was trained in Pakistan. The anti-terror agencies also found that sleeper cell members from other parts of the country were in touch with them.
Vizianagaram police chief Vakul Jindal said the case is being taken over by the NIA for further investigation.

Thrissur infanticide: remains of babies excavated
A forensic team from the Thrissur Medical College Hospital assisted by the Puthukkad police on Monday excavated the mortal remains of two newborns allegedly murdered and buried by a couple from their house compounds. The case for infanticide was registered by the Puthukkad police after Bhavin, 25, a contract plumber from Amballoor in Puthukkad, Thrissur, walked into the station in an inebriated condition in the early hours of Sunday carrying a bag, which, he claimed, contained the skeletal remains of the newborns. Later, the police took into custody his alleged former partner Aneesha, 22, a lab technician from Nooluvalli, near Puthukkad, also into custody and recorded their arrests. A team led by forensic surgeon N.K. Unmesh excavated the remains of the first baby boy, born on November 6, 2021, from the house compound of Aneesha. As per her confession on Sunday, the baby died due to delivery-related complications. The remains of the second child born on October 29, 2024, were found from the house compound of Bhavin. From water-filled channel Initially, the remains of the second baby could not be found from the site where the body was said to be buried. Later, the investigation team led by Puthukkad Inspector M. Mahendra Simhan under the supervision of Chalakkudy Deputy Superintendent of Police ( Biju Kumar brought Bhavin to the spot and questioned him further. Following this, a water-filled channel behind his house was dug, from where the remains were eventually found. 'The remains will be sent for DNA profiling to confirm that the babies were indeed born to the accused. Though the remains of one of the babies were about four years old, there are now systems in place to gather DNA evidence from old samples,' said forensic sources. Reportedly, the first baby was buried by Aneesha and the second baby by the couple. The two were reportedly in an affair for around five years. Differences cropped up between the two in the past six months and Bhavin turned suspicious of Aneesha. He had made Aneesha to get the bones of the first child from her house compound in the pretext that some rituals need to be done, while he collected the bones of the second baby himself. The accused have been booked under multiple charges, including murder, and sections under the Juvenile (Care and Protection of Children) Act. They were produced before a court in Irinjalakkuda and remanded in judicial custody.

Operation Sindoor 2.0? Pakistan secretly rebuilding terror infrastructure near..., India can now...
Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif Operation Sindoor 2.0: After India conducted massive attacks on Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in its Operation Sindoor killing more than a hundred terrorists, fresh intelligence reports are suggesting that Pakistan is secretly rebuilding its terror infrastructure using advanced and sophisticated technology. Through its new tactics, Pakistan is rebuilding with the use of encrypted communication tools, satellite phones, and drones to avoid detection. As per reconstruction plan, the new plan accommodates smaller batches of 20–30 terrorists, as opposed to the earlier practice of training 70–80 militants at once. 'ISI has chosen new terror training centres at places like Athmuqam, Sardi, Lipa, Kotli, Kahuta, Jankote and Chamankot in PoK which are surrounded by forests and small mountains and where it is easy to hide the terrorists and keep them for long time,' Deccan Herald quoted sources as saying. 'The training of fresh recruits is being supervised not just by Pakistani handlers, but also by some former terrorists from Kashmir who have now crossed over and are operating from PoJK,' the sources revealed. Special court grants NIA 10-day remand of two Pahalgam terror accused In another important event related to the Pahalgam attack, a special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) granted a 10-day remand of the two accused who were arrested for harbouring Pakistani terrorists behind the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in April, officials said. A local court had earlier granted the NIA a five-day remand of the two accused on Monday, which expired on Friday. The NIA produced the duo before the special NIA court, which granted a further 10-day remand, they said. The two men — Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar of Batkote, Pahalgam; and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam — were arrested by the NIA on Sunday in the first major breakthrough in the investigation into the April 22 attack that left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead and 16 others injured.
