Matthis Dritz, 4-star senior forward, transfers to Fairmont Prep
Mathis Dritz, a 4-star forward/wing in the Class of 2026, will play her senior year at Fairmont Prep in Orange County after spending her first three seasons of high school two counties away at Westlake.

Dritz was the Ventura County Star Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2023-24 for leading the Warriors to an 18-7 record, a sweep of the Marmonte League, and a CIF-Southern Section 2AA playoff berth. That season she had career highs of 23.6 points, 15.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 3.9 steals per game and 41% FG in addition to averaging 1.4 blocks. As a junior, Dritz averaged 22.2 points, 13.4 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 2.6 assists, and a career-high 1.7 blocks a game as Westlake went 23-6, repeated atop the Marmonte League, and made the Division 1 playoffs.
Currently, Dritz is ranked 86th in her class by ESPN HoopGurlz and 70th in 247Sports' Composite Rankings. She has not made her college commitment yet and recently took her first official visit to Oregon after the conclusion of her junior campaign.
Fairmont Prep is fresh off a CIF-SS Open Division playoff selection, which included a win against Windward in pool play, and is expected to have one of the top returning cores in California. Dritz joins senior guard/wing Adyra Rajan (23 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 3.0 SPG, 157 threes on 37% 3FG), senior forward Sarah Aldeguer (15.4 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 2.8 APG, 2.0 SPG), senior point guard Lesina Afu (10.7 PPG, 2.7 APG), and junior wing Kayla Priest (6.5 PPG, 51% FG, 44% 3FG).
Between Dritz and the returning Huskies, Fairmont Prep has the upside to be a top-five team in California and crack national rankings for the first time in program history.

Authentic Brands to Acquire Controlling Stake in Guess
Never count Jamie Salter out. The founder and chief executive officer of Authentic Brands Group swooped in and snatched the controlling interest in Guess from its rival WHP Global, which had been close to finalizing a deal to acquire the brand. The remaining 49 percent will be owned by Guess cofounders Maurice and Paul Marciano, Nicolai Marciano and Guess chief executive officer Carlos Alberini. The acquisition will add about $6 billion in retail sales to Authentic's coffers and marks the company's second-largest brand acquisition after Reebok. It will bring the company's total annual retail sales to $38 billion globally. Under the terms of the deal, Guess and its subsidiaries will be taken private and be wholly owned by the current management team. The operating company will continue under its existing leadership and structure, Authentic said. 'Guess is a powerhouse brand that has defined style and culture for over 40 years,' said Salter. 'We have tremendous respect for the Marcianos and their team, who have built an innovative, heritage-rich brand with incredible global reach and an established ecosystem of partners. We are excited to build on this legacy in partnership with them as Guess enters its next chapter within our platform.' Authentic said it will expand the Guess business into new categories and territories, and reactivate its archives. 'Guess' international scale and market strength create a runway to accelerate Authentic's growth around the world,' said Matt Maddox, president of Authentic. 'This acquisition expands our presence in existing markets, opens doors to new ones and builds on a brand platform with a proven record of success.' Founded in 1981 in Los Angeles, Guess became famous for its slim, stonewashed jeans and marketing campaigns overseen by Paul Marciano that featured 'Guess Girls,' who in the past have included the likes of Claudia Schiffer and Anna Nicole Smith. Today it operates in about 100 countries through a global retail and licensing network that includes 1,600 stores globally, of which over 1,000 are directly managed. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, is expected to close in the fourth quarter. WHP Global submitted a non-binding $13 a share bid to acquire Guess in March. Michigan Lands Commitment From Top RB Prospect Savion Hiter
The Michigan Wolverines are already having a better week than their last one, as they secured a 2026 commitment from five-star running back prospect Savion Hiter. Hiter announced his commitment to Michigan at his high school, Louisa County High in Virginia. He chose the Wolverines over Tennessee, Georgia and Michigan's chief rival, Ohio State. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and running backs coach Tony Alford – who was previously Ohio State's running back coach from 2015-23 – were "instrumental" in getting Hiter to commit to Michigan instead of Tennessee, according to ESPN. The 5-foot-11 back weighs in at 200 pounds and is the No. 1 running back prospect in the country, as well as the top player in Virginia, according to 247Sports. Hiter is viewed as a potential NFL player who thrives while running inside or outside, per 247Sports. As he heads into his senior season at Louisa County High School, Hiter has already proven to be a force in the backfield. He rushed for 1,698 yards and 26 rushing touchdowns on 156 carries in the 2024 season with another 199 receiving yards on top of that, following a transfer from Woodberry Forest High School, where he played in 2023.
