Bruce Springsteen Says Without Brian Wilson There'd Be No ‘Racing in the Street'

Bruce Springsteen posted a heartfelt tribute to the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, who died at the age of 82.
'Brian Wilson was the most musically inventive voice in all of pop, with an otherworldly ear for harmony,' Springsteen wrote on Instagram. 'He was also the visionary leader of America's greatest band, the Beach Boys. If there'd been no Beach Boys, there would have been no 'Racing In The Street.' Listen to 'Summer's Gone' from the Beach Boys' last album That's Why God Made the Radio and weep. Farewell, Maestro. Nothing but love and a lovely lasting debt from all of us over here on E Street.'

Wilson and Springsteen (who covered the Beach Boys live on a couple of rare occasions, including in 1985) performed onstage together a decade ago, when the latter was a surprise guest at the former's New Jersey concert in 2015, with the pair delivering a medley of Beach Boys hits:
Springsteen's statement echoes the many tributes that have come in following the news of Wilson's death, from Paul McCartney ('I loved him, and was privileged to be around his bright shining light for a little while') to Elton John ('the biggest influence on my songwriting ever'). When Bob Dylan heard about Wilson's death, he 'thought about all the years I've been listening to him and admiring his genius.'
Wilson's family, including his daughter Carnie and cousin/bandmate Mike Love, also wrote tender tributes on social media. There were also tributes from founding Beach Boy Al Jardine, and actor John Stamos, who gigged with the group, off and on, for the past four decades. Others have honored Wilson with renditions of his classics, like Sting's cover of 'God Only Knows.'

Kelly Osbourne's Fiancé Sid Wilson Reveals the Surprising Celebrity Who Inspired Her Unique Engagement Ring

Kelly Osbourne got engaged to Sid Wilson at her dad Ozzy Osbourne's final concert with Black Sabbath on Saturday, July 5 Wilson worked with luxury jewelry brand Mouawad to design a custom engagement ring Mouawad shared a video on Instagram detailing the process with the Slipknot musician — and revealed the surprising celebrity who inspired the ring's unique designSid Wilson is sharing the sentimental meaning behind fiancée Kelly Osbourne's engagement ring. On Monday, July 7, luxury jewelry brand Mouawad, with whom the Slipknot rocker collaborated on the ring's custom design, shared a video on Instagram detailing the process. The clip begins with Wilson, 48, sitting down with Pascal Mouawad to discuss his vision for the sparkler. After sharing that he wanted the ring "to be a special thing, not just something anyone can have," he revealed that he has a special nickname for Kelly, 40: "Honeybee." "And coincidentally, a friend of hers, Joan Rivers, used to call her this," Wilson continued, referring to the late comedian, with whom Kelly co-hosted the E! show Fashion Police from 2010 to 2015. "Joan Rivers used to call her this. It was a nickname she had for her." He added, "I didn't know this. It's like an amazing coincidence. Like, whoa. Meant to be." Wilson then explained that the nickname was because Kelly "would buzz around and, like, spread this good energy around like a bee." He told Pascal he wanted the ring to reflect the sweet nickname, "using honeybees and pollen and diamonds, obviously." The video then cuts to Wilson returning to the jeweler's shop, where the finished ring is unveiled. According to the post's caption, the bespoke piece, which is set in 18K yellow gold, "is adorned with white and yellow diamonds, citrine accents, and crowned with a brilliant round white diamond at its center, a radiant symbol of enduring love." When Wilson got his first look at the ring, he covered his mouth in awe and excitement. "It's blinding! It sparkles! She's going to love that," he exclaimed, telling Pascal, "Dude, it's beautiful. …It's more than perfect. It's a fairy tale." He also joked, "It's going to be so hard to keep it a secret the next five days." With the glittering ring in hand, Wilson popped the question to Kelly at her dad Ozzy Osbourne's final concert with Black Sabbath at England's Villa Park on Saturday, July 5. Kelly shared a video of the surprise moment on Instagram on July 6 with the caption, "Oh and this happened yesterday!" Wilson can be seen getting Kelly's attention, before telling her, "Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world." Ozzy, 76, then interjected, "F--- off, you're not marrying my daughter," prompting Wilson to laugh and then carry on with his proposal. 'Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you," he told his future bride. "So, in front of your family and all of our friends, Kelly, will you marry me?' Kelly, who appeared to be in shock, nodded her head yes and the couple shared a long hug, as friends and family members — including Kelly's mom, Sharon Osbourne, and brother, Jack Osbourne — looked on. The newly engaged couple began dating in January 2022 after first meeting and striking up a friendship in 1999, when Wilson's band was touring with Ozzfest, the music festival founded by Ozzy and Sharon. In May 2022, the pair revealed that they were expecting a baby together. "To say that I am happy does not quite cut it. I am ecstatic!" Kelly wrote on Instagram at the time when she shared the big news with her followers. Wilson and Kelly's son, Sidney, was born at the end of 2022. Kelly later shared during a September 2023 episode of The Osbournes podcast that the pair were loving being parents. "He's the best thing that ever happened to me. The best, he's lovely," she said of their son. "I just love being a mom. It is everything to me." Read the original article on People

Sting forced to cancel concert over severe weather

Sting has been forced to cancel a concert due to severe weather conditions. On Monday, the British musician took to Instagram to explain that he had cancelled his show in Italy the previous night due to "dangerous" weather conditions. Sting was scheduled to perform in the Parco Ragazzi del '99 park in Bassano del Grappa, a city in north-east Italy, as part of his ongoing Sting 3.0 tour. However, the show was abruptly cancelled due to severe thunderstorm warnings. "The mayor of Bassano del Grappa wisely said it would have been too dangerous for the performance to take place with the possibility of lightning and extremely high winds last night," the 73-year-old wrote in the post. He continued, "The safety of my audience, band and crew is paramount. I promise we will return as soon as we can." The news comes weeks after the Every Breath You Take singer was forced to delay one of his shows in the U.K. after The Christians' drummer, Lionel Duke, suffered a cardiac arrest on stage. The incident occurred while the band was opening for Sting in Liverpool, England. Following the collapse, a privacy screen was erected on stage, and medics attended to Lionel. Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, later addressed the audience, stating that the drummer was recovering in the hospital. Sting kicked off his tour on 25 May 2024 and is set to perform in Rome, Italy on Monday, followed by a performance in Udine on Wednesday.

Kelly Osbourne shares father Ozzy Osbourne's funny reaction to her proposal

Kelly Osbourne is sharing the quick jab by her father that cracked up the crowd at her engagement over the weekend. Slipknot musician Sid Wilson proposed to the TV personality at the Back to the Beginning concert on Saturday, which featured final performances from the original Black Sabbath lineup and Kelly Osbourne's famous father, Ozzy Osbourne. In a video Kelly Osbourne shared to Instagram on Sunday, Wilson tells her, "You know I love you more than anything in the world." Before Wilson gets down on one knee, however, Ozzy Osbourne, sitting in the background, exclaims, "F--- off, you're not marrying my daughter," prompting laughter from those in the room, including Wilson. Wilson then turns to Kelly Osbourne again, saying, "Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you. In front of your family and all of my friends, Kelly, will you marry me?" Wilson then pulls out a ring, and Kelly Osbourne nods enthusiastically. After Wilson slides the ring onto her finger, Kelly Osbourne jumps to embrace him, as the crowd around them cheers and applauds. In the video's caption, Kelly Osbourne wrote simply, "Oh and this happened yesterday!" In a follow-up post, which featured a snapshot of the moment Wilson proposed, as well as both Kelly Osbourne's and Ozzy Osbourne's surprised reactions, she added, "I think this picture says it all!" Kelly Osbourne confirmed in 2022 that she and Wilson were dating, calling him her soulmate. The couple share one son. The Back to the Beginning concert on Saturday saw the original members of Black Sabbath -- Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward -- reunite for one final performance. The concert spanned 10 hours and also marked the last live show of Ozzy's Osbourne's career. Ozzy Osbourne, who has not played a full concert for nearly seven years due to a variety of health issues, took the stage while seated in a throne for a five-song solo set, performing "I Don't Know," "Mr. Crowley," "Suicide Solution," "Mama, I'm Coming Home" and "Crazy Train." Actor Jason Momoa hosted the day, which also featured 14 supporting acts including Mastodon, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Gojira, Slayer, Pantera, Guns N' Roses and Metallica, as well as Jack Black and supergroups led by Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello. AC/DC's Brian Johnson and Angus Young, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Elton John, Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst and Korn's Jonathan Davis were among those who sent in video messages for the event.
