Punjab: Head granthi slams call for central security forces at Golden Temple
His statement came after Amritsar member of Parliament (MP) Gurjeet Singh Aujla demanded that central government and state government jointly increase security here and Amritsar be declared a 'no-war zone'. One of the threat e-mails were also copied to the Congress MP.
However, Aujla refuted media reports claiming that he had demanded 'deployment of the CISF' at Golden Temple.
Responding to a query during the interaction, Giani Raghbir Singh said the demand for central forces was wrong. 'The Congress has the history of committing excesses against Sikhs. Its government sent forces to attack Sri Darbar Sahib and Akal Takht Sahib. Following this, it massacred thousands Sikhs. It seems this was not enough for it.'
'Staff of the SGPC is efficient enough to ensure security inside Sri Darbar Sahib. Outside it, the administration should perform its duty to provide security to the devotees,' he added.
Other Sikh segments also took serious note of the demand for deployment of the central forces.
SGPC member and former general secretary Kiranjot Kaur said, 'After Operation Bluestar, Sikhs were allowed to enter the Darbar Sahib only after being thoroughly checked. Are political parties trying to create that same atmosphere again? Let the gurdwara remain a gurdwara—keep your politics out of it.'
Former SGPC member and Akal Purakh Ki Fauj chief advocate Jaswinder Singh said, 'What new conspiracy is this? With what authority can such a demand be made without consulting the SGPC? If the SGPC calls Sikhs for security of Darbar Sahib, then the entire Panth will stand here in its support, one after the other.'
Since July 14, the SGPC has received at least six e-mails threatening to blow up the Golden Temple.
The Punjab Police on Friday had detained a 24-year-old software engineer, Shubham Dubey, from Faridabad, Haryana, in connection with the e-mails.
Amritsar commissioner of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said, 'Our investigation is going on. The laptop and other devices recovered from Dubey are full of data. Retrieval of the data is taking time. Secondly, we have got another major lead from another state. Soon we will get a breakthrough in this case.'
Investigators said such threat e-mails were landing across different cities in the country, threatening to target worship places, educational institutes, court complexes, etc.
Source of threat e-mails traced: CM
Chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while in Barnala on Saturday, said the source of the bomb threat e-mails had been traced and the accused will be given exemplary punishment.
Ludhiana MP and Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, who visited Golden Temple on Saturday evening, said the Centre and state governments were not taking cognisance of the e-mails threatening to target the shrine.
He claimed that an e-mail was received even after detention of the Faridabad software engineer. 'This proves that the sender is closely watching the police activity,' he said while addressing the media.

Chidambaram questions Pahalgam terrorists' identity, BJP hits back
As Parliament debates Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, former Union Minister P Chidambaram's recent remarks on the terrorists involved in the killings have kicked up a row. In an interview to The Quint, uploaded on Saturday (July 26), Chidambaram said the Pahalgam attackers 'for all we know could be homegrown terrorists' and 'why do you assume that they came from Pakistan'? He also said that 'there is no evidence' that the terrorists came from Pakistan. To a question on 'what they (government) are trying to hide', Chidambaram said: 'They are hiding the fact. I think. And this is speculation. The CDS hinted at that – that we made tactical mistakes, we restrategised. So, what tactical mistakes were made? What was the re-strategising? Those questions either they (government) are incompetent to answer or they are unwilling to answer… They are unwilling to disclose what the NIA has done all these weeks.' 'Have they identified the terrorists, where they came from? For all we know they could be homegrown terrorists. Why do you assume that they came from Pakistan? There is no evidence of that. They are also hiding the losses,' the Congress leader said in the interview. He said he wrote in a column that in a war, losses occur on both sides. 'I understand that India would have suffered losses. Be upfront. Winston Churchill in World War 2 made a statement every other day. Whatever losses Britain suffered, they made it plain… They (government) are reluctant to admit the losses… I think they think they can put a large shroud on Operation Sindoor.' BJP's national information and technology department in-charge Amit Malviya hit out at Chidambaram over his statement. 'P Chidambaram, former UPA-era Home Minister and the original proponent of the infamous 'saffron terror' theory, covers himself with glory yet again.' Quoting his interview, Malviya said: 'Once again, the Congress rushes to give a clean chit to Pakistan — this time after the Pahalgam terror attack.' 'Why is it that every time our forces confront Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, Congress leaders sound more like Islamabad's defence lawyers than India's Opposition,' asked Malviya. 'When it comes to national security, there should be no ambiguity. But with the Congress, there never is — they always bend over backwards to protect the enemy,' Malviya said on X. Asked about BJP's reaction, Chidambaram said: 'I saw a troll and I have responded to the troll.' In a post on X on Monday, the Congress leader said: 'Trolls are of different kinds and use different tools to spread misinformation. The worst kind is a troll who suppresses the full recorded interview, takes two sentences, mutes some words, and paints the speaker in a black colour!'

Home Minister should take responsibility for Pahalgam attack: Congress' Gaurav Gogoi
New Delhi, July 28 (UNI) Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi today asserted that Home Minister Amit Shah should be held accountable for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and cannot deflect responsibility onto J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Speaking during the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Gogoi said: "The Home Minister comes and says that everything is well arranged. The backbone of terrorism has been broken. Yet, Uri happens, Pulwama happens, and Pahalgam happens. In the end, who takes responsibility? The Lieutenant Governor of J&K? No. If responsibility has to be taken, then Hon'ble Home Minister, it is you who must take the responsibility." He also said that all the blame for the Pahalgam attack was placed on the tour operator, with the claim that the operator took tourists to Pahalgam without permission and without informing the government. He questioned this logic of "evading responsibility", asking how such an argument could be justified. He further pointed out that 100 days have passed since the Pahalgam attack, yet the four terrorists involved have not been apprehended. The terrorists came, were given shelter, carried out an attack in Pahalgam for an hour, and escaped—yet not a single one has been caught. Mr. Gogoi said, 'Those who gave shelter to the terrorists have not been caught, those who supplied them with weapons have not been caught, and those who helped them escape safely after the attack have also not been apprehended. The government has drones, Pegasus, and the Central Reserve Police Force—so why, Home Minister, have the terrorists and their accomplices still not been captured?' He said that in Pahalgam, terrorists fired at unarmed tourists for an hour, and no one came to their aid. Even the ambulance took an hour to reach the scene. 'Who will answer these questions?' he asked. Gogoi further alleged that the central government is so arrogant that no matter how serious its mistakes are, no one is allowed to question it. He said, "At the time of the Pahalgam attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Saudi Arabia and completed all his scheduled programs there. After returning to India, he did not visit Pahalgam but instead went to Bihar to deliver an election speech. If anyone went to Pahalgam, it was our leader Rahul Gandhi. It would have been much better if he had gone to Pahalgam." The Congress Deputy Leader said, "The phrase "we will strike inside their territory" has been heard often—first after the 2016 terrorist attack, and again after the Pahalgam attack. Now, he said, it is being claimed that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing, which implies that Pakistan will carry out another terrorist attack, and then there will be another response under Operation Sindoor". He further stated that after the ceasefire, it was said, 'Our objective was not war; our objective was not to capture Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.' He questioned, 'If we are not going to take Pakistan-occupied Kashmir now, then when will we?' Gogoi also demanded when the whole Opposition and the country was with the Government then why did the ceasefire happen. "The entire country and the Opposition were with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but on the evening of May 10, news of a ceasefire emerged. In such a situation, Narendra Modi should explain- Why did this ceasefire happen? When Pakistan was ready to kneel, why did you stop? and Who did you bow to, who did you surrender to?" Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh while participating in the discussion slammed Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi saying that the Jorhat MP failed to acknowledge the sacrifices of Indian soldiers. He also accused the UPA for rise in terrorism in the country. Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee raised concerns over the ceasefire decision. He also criticised the Prime Minister for remaining silent on US President Donald Trump's repeated assertions about playing a role in ending the India-Pakistan conflict. 'Why was a ceasefire declared under pressure from the American President?' he questioned. UNI RBE RN

'DEAL REJECTED': Saudi's Palestine Roar Shakes UN, MBS Crushes Israeli Hopes
Shashi Tharoor May Keep 'Maunvrat' During Op Sindoor Debate. Rift With Cong or Strategic Silence? Will Shashi Tharoor speak in Parliament during the Operation Sindoor, Pahalgam attack discussion? The Congress MP triggered more rumours by saying he will maintain 'maunvrat', or silence, in Parliament. As the Lok Sabha debates Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack, Tharoor, known for backing the Centre's muscular foreign policy, has chosen a vow of silence. Sources say the Congress high command reached out to him to speak, but he refused. Is it political defiance? Or a quiet protest against a party that's increasingly uncomfortable with his support for PM Modi's stand on Pakistan? Tharoor was earlier picked to lead an all-party delegation on Operation Sindoor and faced heat from within Congress ever since. His refusal to toe the party line, and praise for India's military, is adding to speculation about a growing rift.#shashitharoor #operationsindoor #maunvrat #congressrift #modiforeignpolicy #parliamentdebate #indiafirst #pahalgamattack #bjpvscongress #tharoorsilence #nationalsecurity #rahulgandhi #pmmodi #indianpolitics #toi #toibharat #bharat #trending #breakingnews #indianews 30.6K views | 13 hours ago
