Avril Lavigne has thanked her parents for the "sacrifices" they made for her.
The 40-year-old star is currently on her Avril Lavigne: The Greatest Hits tour and after bringing her mom out on stage at New York's Madison Square Garden, she has expressed her gratitude for all the help and support her mother and father have shown over the years.
Sharing a video and photos of her mom on stage, Avril wrote on Instagram: "I brought my Mom up on stage last night !!!!
"Ever since I was a little girl, both my mom and dad saw something in me and encouraged me to practice very hard and pursue my dream of becoming a singer/ musician.
"They made a lot of sacrifices for me and I could not be where I am today without them. Mom thank you for believing in me. I am grateful to both my parents. Thank you for everything, I love you both! [heart emojis] (sic)"
During the New York show, Avril recalled to the audience that her mom had told her "you're going to be a singer one day" after she sang Jesus Loves Me.
She added: "When I was two years old, she knew I was going to be a singer."
Meanwhile, Avril previously laughed off the conspiracy theory that she was replaced by a body double named Melissa after struggling with the pressures of fame.
The Complicated hitmaker insisted the rumours have never bothered her because she knows there are far worse things that people could have said.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she said: "I mean, it's just funny to me. Like, on one end, everyone's like, 'You look the exact same. You haven't aged a day.' But then other people are like, there's a conspiracy theory that I'm not me. Honestly, it's not that bad. It could be worse, right?
"I feel like I got a good one. I don't feel like it's negative. It's nothing creepy! Obviously I am me, it's so dumb!
"I think that they've done that with other artists. I'm not the only one. I think, like, other people have that."

Kristin Cavallari Says She Knew Ex Jay Cutler's New Fiancée Before Their Divorce and Reveals Why 'That Helped' Her

Kristin Cavallari opened up about the aftermath of her 2020 split from Jay Cutler in the June 4 premiere of Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour During a conversation with Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Cavallari revealed that she knew Cutler's fiancée, Samantha Robertson, before the two started dating The Laguna Beach alum also shared that she thinks "divorce can be a really good thing"Kristin Cavallari is reacting to Jay Cutler's engagement. In the June 4th episode of Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, the reality star, 38, reflected on her relationship and divorce from her ex-husband. During a conversation with Kim Zolciak-Biermann before her guest appearance on Cavallari's live show for her Let's Be Honest podcast in Atlanta, the pair bonded over their similar experiences. "I just feel for you," Cavallari told The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, 47, backstage. "It's so hard going through all that." Zolciak-Biermann is in the midst of a tumultuous divorce from the father of her six children Kroy Biermann after 12 years of marriage and three filings since May 2023. Cavallari, who welcomed three kids with Cutler before their split in 2020, explained that she could relate to the stress that public opinion can add to an already difficult time. "Going through something messy in the public, like a divorce, I just know from my own personal experience, there's always a certain narrative that's out there," the Laguna Beach star said in a confessional. "And if someone wants to clear the air or give their perspective, I'm happy to give that platform for it." When Zolciak-Biermann expressed worry about her ex introducing their kids to a new partner in the future, Cavallari shared how she is navigating her feelings about Cutler's fiancée Samantha Robertson. "I knew her before [the divorce]," she revealed. 'So I think that helped because I could sort of envision their dynamic." Cavallari also opened up about the aftermath of her divorce, noting that 'I do not believe in staying together for the kids.' 'You have to have dark times to get to the good times,' she said. 'Divorce can be a really good thing.' "I think deep down I knew," she admitted of the breakup later in the episode. "I was very unhappy at that point in my life and really stressed out. My kids were young, so it's not like they were seeing headlines or anything. But now my kids are 12, 10 and 9 and that's my priority right now." In the years since their separation, Cavallari has voiced her support for Cutler's romantic pursuits. During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast in August 2022 — a year before the former NFL player started dating Robertson — she even said, 'I hope that he finds someone.' "I mean, I want him happy,' Cavallari explained. 'My kids benefit from that, you know. So I hope that he gets remarried. I mean, I really do."
