It marks the latest collaboration between Maini and Mahindra Racing, the only Indian team currently competing at World Championship level in motorsport, as part of the FIA's all-electric racing series.
New Delhi, Jul 1 (PTI) India's Kush Maini was on Tuesday named as one of the drivers for Mahindra Racing at the upcoming ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Rookie Test in Berlin, Germany on July 14.
'Mahindra is a manufacturer I've worked with first-hand a lot over the last 18 months, and I've seen the hard work and development that has gone into improving the team's results on-track.
'It's a great source of pride for me to represent them, and to help them push on and keep that rate of development going.' Earlier this season, Maini, 24, set the benchmark time under the lights in a dedicated Rookie Free Practice session in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, his first taste of the Mahindra M11Electro and Formula E's GEN3 Evo era.
That followed on from Season 10, in which Maini served as Mahindra Racing's official Reserve Driver and also participated in last year's Rookie Test around the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit.
Maini has also impressed in his full-time racing activities in FIA Formula 2. He recently claimed victory on the streets of Monaco, taking his tally to two career victories and seven podium finishes as one of the series' standout names.
Maini will conduct a full day of running at the test, with the team set to confirm its other participating driver in due course.
'The whole point of the Berlin Rookie Test is to encourage and nurture the next generation of potential Formula E stars, and Kush is definitely a talent to watch in that regard,' Mahindra Racing CEO & Team Principal, Frederic Bertrand said.
'We've been very impressed with his performance and attitude on every occasion he's stepped into a Mahindra Racing car so far and look forward to working with him again in Berlin.' PTI ATK DDV

South Africa Thrash India In WCL; de Villiers Stars With 63 And Unbelievable Catch
SA vs IND: South Africa Champions go top of the table with dominant 88-run (DLS) win; India slump to bottom. AB de Villiers showed exactly why he's still revered as one of the most destructive batters in the game, smashing a sensational 30-ball 63 to guide South Africa Champions to a massive 88-run win (DLS method) over India Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2025 at Northampton on Tuesday. His knock, which included three fours and four towering sixes, came after a quiet return against West Indies in the tournament opener. This time, de Villiers was back to his vintage best, attacking from the start and energizing the innings. Strong Support from Smuts, Amla, and Rudolph De Villiers was ably supported by JJ Smuts, who struck 30 off just 17 balls, while Hashim Amla (22) and Jacques Rudolph (24) added vital contributions to help South Africa reach an imposing 208/6 in their 20 overs. Despite efforts from Indian spinners Yusuf Pathan (2/26) and Piyush Chawla (2/31), South Africa's aggressive approach meant India were always under pressure. India Falter in Rain-Hit Chase India's chase never got going. With captain Yuvraj Singh unable to bat due to a fielding injury, the team lost early wickets and struggled to gain momentum. Apart from Stuart Binny's unbeaten 37 off 39 balls, there was little resistance. Suresh Raina (16), Vinay Kumar (13), and Irfan Pathan (10) were the only others to reach double figures as India collapsed to 111/9 in 18.2 overs before rain ended play. The DLS par score was well beyond their reach. De Villiers Adds Magic in the Field To cap off a memorable night, de Villiers also contributed in the field with a sensational relay catch on the boundary, proving he's still sharp and agile despite being retired from international cricket since 2021. South Africa Go Top, India Hit Rock Bottom With this win, South Africa Champions now sit comfortably on top of the points table with two wins in two matches. India Champions, meanwhile, have just one point from two games and are placed at the bottom. The performance reaffirmed South Africa's status as early title contenders, driven by the brilliance of their legendary skipper AB de Villiers.

Harmanpreet Kaur wants India to pass the benchmark before ODI World Cup
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur once again rose to the occasion when it mattered most, producing a masterful century as India sealed a high-scoring 13-run victory over England in the third women's ODI to clinch the series 2-1. But even as she reflected on her 84-ball 102-an innings full of composure and resolve-her gaze was firmly set on a larger ambition: for India to meet and exceed global standards ahead of the 2025 Women's ODI World total of 318 for five was built around Harmanpreet's authoritative knock and a vital 110-run stand with Jemimah Rodrigues, who contributed a fluent 50. Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol chipped in with 45 apiece, while Richa Ghosh's explosive 38 off just 18 balls gave the innings a powerful finish. England, in response, came close but were bowled out for 305 in the final over."In all the matches I wanted to give my best in batting but today's game was very important to us," Harmanpreet said at the post-match presentation. "The plan was to spend some time on the wicket and then see how things go. That really worked for me." Having endured a slow start-she was scoreless for her first ten deliveries-Harmanpreet held her nerve with some quiet self-assurance. "I was just talking to myself: 'I'm not going to lose myself, just be there, be there for the team.'"She reached her hundred in 82 balls, making it the second-fastest ODI century by an Indian woman after Smriti Mandhana's 70-ball effort earlier this year. The knock also saw her become only the third Indian woman to surpass 4,000 runs in ODIs, underscoring her standing as a mainstay of Indian batting over the past while the personal milestone was significant, Harmanpreet was clear that the real work lies ahead."Today was a totally different situation, a different pitch, a different atmosphere," she said. "In home conditions it will be different. But whenever you win, that always gives you a positive mindset and keeps you in a good place."This series will definitely give us a lot of confidence but, again, when we go back, we have to start again from ball one."India's women have often shown flashes of brilliance in recent years, but consistency at the highest level remains a work in progress. Harmanpreet believes the current squad has the depth and fitness to compete with the best, provided they continue to refine their processes and push past old limits."Our team has been working really hard for so many years and this is the time where we are getting that reward," she said. "We only talk about playing good cricket and we know the kind of talent we have. It's about using the right talent at the right time and getting the best out of them."advertisementShe credited the squad's improved fitness and professionalism as key factors in their recent rise."I'm really happy. All the girls are coming up with a positive mindset and working really hard on their fitness. We've understood a lot in the past few years and right now we're just trying to pass that benchmark and put ourselves in a position where people talk seriously about women's cricket."That final point is central to Harmanpreet's long-term vision: not just winning matches, but earning the respect and recognition the team deserves in a country where cricket holds a central place in the national imagination."People back home love cricket. They want us to do well, and we also want to give them something to be proud of," she said.- EndsYou May Also Like

Kranti Goud Creates History, Becomes Youngest Indian Fast Bowler To...
21-year-old fast bowler Kranti Goud etched her name in record books with a sensational six-wicket haul against England. Kranti Goud was the star with the ball for India women as they defeated England by 13 runs in the third and final ODI to clinch the bilateral series 2-1. Goud produced a memorable show, finishing with a six-fer as England were bowled out for 305 in chase of 318 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on Tuesday. Goud finished with career-best bowling figures of 6/52 from 9.5 overs in what was just the fourth ODI of her fledgling international career. At 21 years and 346 days, Goud has become the youngest Indian fast bowler to take five or more wickets in an ODI. She surpassed the record of legendary Jhulan Goswami who achieved the feat at the age of 23 years and 12 days, also against England in December 2005. Overall, she's the second youngest Indian women to record an ODI five-for after Deepti Sharma (18 years 179 days). Goud is the fourth Indian women after Mamatha Maben, Deepti and Jhulan Goswami to pick up a six-wicket haul in ODIs. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
