Inter Milan & Argentina Starlet Declares ‘FIFA Club World Cup Helped Me A Lot, Vieira Convinced Me To Join Genoa'

Valentin Carboni says the Club World Cup with Inter Milan 'helped' him, while Patrick Vieira was key in convincing him to join Genoa.
The 20-year-old spoke to Ligurian newspaper Il Secolo XIX, via FCInter1908, in an interview in today's print edition.
It has been a busy summer for attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni.
The Argentine had spent the majority of last season on the sidelines recovering from a knee injury that he'd suffered in the fall.
However, Carboni was part of the Inter squad at the Club World Cup this summer.
And the young attacking midfielder got his share of playing time at that tournament.
Not only that, Carboni enjoyed something of a star turn. The 20-year-old came off the bench to score Inter's stoppage time winner in a group stage match against Urawa Red Diamonds.
Now, Carboni has joined Genoa on loan. He will hope that this spell with the Grifone provides him with the platform to play regularly in Serie A and really hit his stride.

Valentin Carboni descried his goal against Urawa Reds as 'liberating.'
'I was just coming back after a few months,' the Argentine noted. 'That tournament was important for me.'
Carboni called it 'a perfect comeback.' He aded that 'I'll use it as a starting point.'
Then, the 20-year-old said that 'I'm feeling good physically.'
'I've joined up with [Genoa] a bit late, but I started working with the group. They're slowly getting me back to the best shape possible.'
Meanwhile, Carboni commented that he 'already knew there was interest' from Genoa.
'But with the injury at Marseille, I wasn't playing.'
'The Club World Cup with Inter was a chance for me to show that I had recovered,' added the Argentine.
And as far as joining Genoa, Carboni said that 'The fans, the stadium, an Vieira calling me convinced me.'

Milan Mayor On AC Milan & Inter Purchasing San Siro: 'September Decisive, Sale Of Stadium A Personal Objective'

Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has confirmed that September will be a decisive month in the potential sale of San Siro. Speaking to RTL 102.5 via FCInterNewsit, he revisited the long-standing issue surrounding the sale of the iconic stadium. Of course, it's not just about the venue. AC Milan and Inter have been persistent in their effort to buy San Siro and the surrounding areas. However, the process has not gone as smoothly as the Serie A giants had hoped. Indeed, bureaucratic hurdles and political debates have significantly slowed down the progress. Meanwhile, the Milan clubs remain unfazed, looking to complete the purchase next month. Furthermore, Beppe Sala has made this project a personal mission. Though the sale is beyond his control, Sala wants Milan and Inter to succeed in their ambition to build a new stadium. He views the clubs' joint project as a necessity, especially with the 2032 UEFA European Championship on the horizon. Indeed, Italy will co-host the tournament, with San Siro at risk of being omitted as a host venue. Needless to say, it would be a disaster. (Photo by) 'We'll see what happens in September,' Sala said. 'We must go through the City Council because they must approve transactions involving public property. 'San Siro is one of my goals – not the most important, of course – but I've been working on this for years, also out of personal dignity. 'At first, we considered a lease agreement, then we explored renovation, and now we're pursuing a sale,' he continued. 'Out of personal dignity, I want to carry this initiative forward, but it must be approved by the Council. 'From my point of view, I want a clear conscience – I want to do my job to the end. Then we'll see if politics will follow this path. 'What I've noticed – as someone who has always traveled a lot and remains very curious about what's happening around the world – is that major cities usually have new stadiums. 'San Siro isn't new, and I'll stop here because I know this will spark controversy. 'But modern times must push for change. 'Milan is a city of change, so I vote in favor and will vote in favor because I too vote in the City Council. 'Then we'll see what happens.'

Leoni targeted by Liverpool as interest in young talent grows

Liverpool are the latest club to focus on Parma defender Giovanni Leoni, who has been given a €40m price tag amid Tottenham, Inter and Milan interest. The centre-back is only 18 years old and has just 17 Serie A appearances under his belt, scoring one goal, but already made a big impression. Considered one of the brightest young talents in Italian football, he has been linked with Inter and Milan throughout the summer. They were unprepared to pay the €40m asking price set by Parma, needing first to make sales before raising those kinds of funds for a teenager. According to The Times newspaper, Leoni is one of the young centre-backs that Liverpool are keeping tabs on, along with Crystal Palace player Marc Guehi. He had already been associated with a potential swoop from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. A product of the Padova youth academy, Leoni moved to Sampdoria in February 2024 and then was sold to Parma a few months later for €4.8m plus add-ons and a 10 per cent cut of the future transfer fee.

(Photo by Pier) Keen to join Inter after an exhausting summer, Lookman is pressuring Atalanta to sanction his departure. After removing all social media posts linking him with La Dea, he has taken more drastic measures. Indeed, the Nigerian is refusing to train with the team as he hopes to seal his move to San Siro as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Inter and Atalanta are unable to find common ground. La Dea's €50 million asking price has proved too steep for Inter, who are unwilling to offer over €45 million.
