Actor Alfie Wise — longtime costar of Burt Reynolds — dead at 82
Wise, who retired from acting in 2000, died of natural causes at Palm Beach, Florida's Thomas H. Corey Veteran Affairs Medical Center, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wise was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 17, 1942, to parents Ralph Sr. and Miss Wise. He attended Keith Junior High School and Altoona Area High School, graduating in 1960.

Wise then graduated from Pennsylvania State University from 1960 to 1964.
After college, Wise went on to serve in the U.S. Navy for four years before making his acting debut in ABC's 1972 TV movie, 'Call Her Mom,' and an episode of CBS's 'The Sandy Duncan Show.'

Early on in his acting career, Wise starred alongside Charles Nelson Reilly in the 1975 children's show 'Uncle Croc's Block,' portraying Mr. Rabbit Ears.
He also teamed up with Lou Ferringo as a paramedic team duo in the 1983 ABC series 'Trauma Center,' which starred James Naughton, Wendie Malick, and Dorian Harewood.

Wise's collaboration with late Burt Reynolds (who died in 2018) helped create 10 action-packed movies, including 1977's 'Smokey and the Bandit' and 1981's 'The Cannonball Run.'

Throughout the years, Wise has become well known for his roles in the 1978 movie 'The Spy Who Laughed at Danger,' 1977's 'Smokey and the Bandit,' and 1981's 'The Cannonball Run.'

The late actor's latest credit was 'S Club 7 in Miami,' a CBBC sitcom in 1999 following the English pop group, S Club 7.
'Sad to have heard my Pal Alfie Wise passed away,' wrote 'S Club 7' casting director Lori Wyman in an Instagram tribute. 'Funny, talented guy!'

After retiring from the entertainment industry, Wise became a real estate agent in Florida.
'We are deeply saddened to share that our agent, Alfie Wise, has passed away,' wrote Donohue Real Estate in a July 30 Facebook post. 'Whenever there was a company get-together, Alfie was always there, smiling and chatting with everyone… We will greatly miss Alfie's sense of humor, positive attitude, and charming personality.'

Just pull the plug already. It's time. In fact, it's past time. The body is barely breathing. Yes, 'The Howard Stern Show' on SiriusXM is reportedly limping toward its final destination. The former shock jock's $500 million contract, which he signed in 2020, is up in the fall; according to the US Sun, there's a good chance he'll be offered less money than he wants to renew. While there's no official confirmation the show will end, it should go the way of Stephen Colbert's farce of a late-night show. 6 In October 2024, Howard Stern interviewed presidential hopeful Kamala Harris and took 'Saturday Night Live' to task for making a few jokes at her expense. @sternshow/X This isn't dancing on the grave of someone's career.
