Patrece Dayton Joins WTWO News Team
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — WTWO is proud to announce that veteran journalist Patrece Dayton will be joining our news team part-time, focusing on special reports that matter most to the Wabash Valley.
With nearly 37 years of experience delivering trusted news coverage, Patrece is a familiar face and respected voice in the community. Her deep connection to the region and passion for storytelling have made her a staple in local journalism.
'We're thrilled to welcome Patrece back to local broadcast journalism,' said Tim Sanders, VP/General Manager of WTWO. 'I truly believe she's not finished making an impact—her storytelling is powerful, and we're honored to have her continue that work right here at WTWO.'
While Patrece will be contributing part-time to WTWO, her primary role is with Thrive West Central, where she helps connect residents and communities to services that support growth and well-being.
'I enjoy working for Thrive West Central and I will continue spending the majority of my time getting the word out about the wonderful programs Thrive provides our community,' said Dayton. 'But this part-time reporter position at WTWO will allow me to continue my love of writing and storytelling.'
Patrece is also a proud mother to two adult sons, Mitchell and Grant, who are the love of her life. In her spare time, she enjoys walking with friends, hiking Indiana's beautiful state parks, and spending time outdoors.

Ohio Blvd Project discussion continues
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Dozens of residents attended the Terre Haute City Council Thursday night, as they discussed the proposed Ohio Boulevard Project. Brickyard Estates and Paddock at the Park is a proposed $70 million project. It will include single family homes and multi family units located between Ohio Boulevard and Edgewood Grove. The homes are slated to be part of 93 home subdivision of 1600 square feet and with a price between $350,000 to $400,000. There will also be 11, three story apartment complexes. Many residents voiced they agree with the housing side of the project, but not the apartment side. 'This proposal, the money it will need to be paid back over a 20 year span. And knowing that 20 years from now, think about what those apartments potentially could look like and how they may downgrade and be a detraction from the jewel of Ohio Boulevard and Deming Park,' Resident Heidi Isaia said. Young 4-H kids learn about different career paths
CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The annual Mini 4-H Day Camp took place Thursday at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Kids ages kindergarten through 2nd grade got a taste of what being a 4-H member is like by learning about civic engagement, life skills, and of course, livestock. The camp looks to give kids a jumpstart before they reach the 3rd grade and begin participating in 4-H themselves. Also at the camp today was Duke Energy. Duke gave a presentation that showed kids the equipment they use and how to be safe when working, which 4-H Youth Development Coordinator Natalie Korniak said is a major emphasis on the day. 'One of the things we focus on in 4-H is career readiness, so being ready for different life adventures', Korniak said. 'Part of that is learning about the different trades or different career paths they might have and teaching them from this age all the way through senior year of high school. Hopefully they get lots of different experiences that they will be able to see if they might like to do that someday.' Thrive West Central now offering assistance to new home buyers
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Thrive West Central will now be supplying new home buyers with down payment assistance and affordable mortgage options through its Hoosier Homes program. The announcement was made Thursday during a press conference featuring Terre Haute City and Vigo County officials. Thrive West Central said this is all made possible by a partnership with Club 720, a digital platform that helps assist you during the home buying process. Thrive West Central Director of Housing, Julie Hart, said this new program is a way to build the community by supplying affordable housing. 'If you have a home available, people will come, and that's what we haven't had. So what we're doing, and our ultimate goal, is to increase our population. If we can take a parcel, put a home on it, increase that tax base and bring in that population, we are elevating our community, and basically that is our ultimate goal,' said Hart. The program will provide eligible home buyers in Vigo County up to 5% in down payment assistance and up to 5% for home buyers in Clay, Montgomery, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan and Vermillion County. Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard said financially helping new homeowners will benefit the entire community. 'At first, it was about building homes, and we are still doing that, but now it's about making that home purchase easier for those that may struggle with a down payment, things like that,' said Clinkenbeard.
