Ishaan Khatter Opens Up About Reunion With Janhvi Kapoor: 'We Could Lean Onto Each Other...'
Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, who made their Bollywood debut together in Dhadak back in 2018, have reunited after seven years for their upcoming film Homebound. The Neeraj Ghaywan directorial had its world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2025 in May and is also set to be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Dhadak, directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, was a Hindi adaptation of Nagraj Manjule's acclaimed Marathi film Sairat. The film explored issues of casteism and honour killing and went on to perform well at the box office. The much-anticipated spiritual sequel Dhadak 2, starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, is slated for release on August 1.
Now, ahead of Homebound, Ishaan opened up about his experience of working with Janhvi on Dhadak. In an interview with Zoom, the actor reflected on one of the film's most emotional scenes and shared, 'On Dhadak's set, Janhvi and I could lean onto each other."
He further explained, 'My character is going through a lot of conflict. He is trying to be a man for her but he is not able to. He is dealing with his own issues. He has been uprooted from his family. You can see the cracks in him, his vulnerability. He is trying to be supportive, but inevitably he's dealing with his own demons."
In Homebound, Ishaan stars alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa. The story follows two childhood friends—Shoaib Ali (played by Ishaan) and Chandan Kumar (played by Vishal)—who hail from a North Indian village and are determined to break free from the burden of their marginalised identities. However, a series of events leads to internal and external conflicts that test their bond.
While the film has already garnered international attention at Cannes, its theatrical release date is still under wraps. Homebound marks a significant reunion for Ishaan and Janhvi, and fans are excited to see the duo together on screen once again.

Raksha Bandhan 2025: Rakhi from a distance? Here's how to slay a virtual celebration with your long-distance siblings
Just because your sibling or cousin is a thousand kilometres away does not mean you skip the drama, the fights, or the emotional meltdown. Raksha Bandhan is not just about tying a thread, it is a full-blown emotional Bollywood scene. And this year, we are giving it a digital glow-up. Whether your brother is in Toronto or your cousin is buried under work in Bangalore, virtual Rakhi is here to prove that Wi-Fi > geography. How to celebrate Rakhi virtually? Step 1: Schedule that chaos Do not assume your brother will magically be free just because it is Rakhi. Text him, call him, spam the group chat, lock down a time for that video call. Bonus points if you can guilt-trip him into waking up at 6AM in the US. It is tradition, bro. Step 2: DIY Rakhi or Amazon express? Send a physical Rakhi if you are a planner (or your sibling is a softie). But if you are last-minute AF, go the e-Rakhi route. Etsy, Ferns N Petals, or even Canva can help you make something extra cute and custom. And yes, you can send a PDF with sass. Step 3: Swiggy, Zomato, Uber Eats, your Rakhi wingmen No celebration is complete without food. Order their favourite mithai or biryani to land at their doorstep right after your call. It is peak desi sibling love when you fight during the video call and still send rasgullas five minutes later. Step 4: Make it Instagram official Coordinate your outfits. Take screenshots. Add that filmy filter. Post that Story with 'Phoolon Ka Taron Ka' or 'Naach Meri Jaan'. Let the world know your sibling bond is thriving—even through pixels and time zones. Step 5: Game night or watch party? Yes please. After the call, do a Netflix Party, play or drag them into a nostalgic Antakshari sesh. Keep the energy buzzing, because Rakhi is not just about tradition, it is about vibes, chaos, and vibing in chaos. Step 6: The Vibe Check: Long-Distance, Still Strong At the end of the day, it is not about how you celebrate, but that you do. The thread may be digital, but the love is very real. This Raksha Bandhan, show your siblings that even 8,000 miles and three time zones cannot cancel sibling drama. Now go, slay that virtual celebration.
