According to US government data submitted in early 2025, Google is paying high to top tech talent in fields like AI, research, and hardware development. The base salary range for software engineers at Google lies between $109,180 and $340,000 (roughly Rs 91 lakh to Rs 2.9 crore). These figures don't include bonuses or equity which means the total package might be higher. Technical roles Salaries at Google: Hardware Engineers : $130,000–$284,000

Mechanised paddy transplanting gains in popularity

1 2 Udupi: A quiet revolution is transforming the district's fields. The mechanised paddy transplanting that began in 2013 as a modest experiment on just 500 acres has now expanded to over 15,000 acres. This method has not only changed how rice is grown in the district, but is also creating a new breed of rural entrepreneurs, said Shankar M, associate professor at the Zonal Agricultural and Horticultural Research Station in Brahmavar. The total area dedicated to paddy cultivation in Udupi is about 30,000–35,000 hectares. He said that the mechanised method using paddy trays is rapidly replacing the labour-intensive traditional transplanting system. "Earlier, seeds were sown directly and manually transplanted after 30 days. In the improved method, saplings are grown in trays and are ready in 16-18 days for machine transplanting," he said. Each acre requires about 80 trays of seedlings. The tray resembles a mat, making it easy to handle, transport, and maintain. It is also cost-effective and space-efficient, major factors contributing to its growing popularity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Heads Turn as Walgreens Shoppers Discover 87¢ ED Pills fridayplans Learn More Undo Shankar said farmers can buy each tray for Rs 60–Rs 70 in the market, but the Agricultural Research Station, Brahmavar, offers it at Rs 53, currently supporting mechanised cultivation on around 300–400 acres in and around the area. "What is fuelling the shift is not just convenience, but for agri-entrepreneurs, it is an opportunity. The model has become a seasonal business success for three months. Entrepreneurs cultivating around 200 acres for three months earn nearly Rs 10 lakh, with profits touching Rs 5 lakh," Shankar said. Many trained at the Brahmavar station have now scaled up independently. Ramesh from Kota manages about 500 acres; Navaneeth Shetty from the Vidhathri FPO, 600–800 acres; Jayalakshmi Hegde from Perdoor, 200–300 acres; Padmanabha Kini from Gavali, 500–600 acres; Raghu Madhyasta from Saligrama, 200 acres. Others like Suresh Nayak from Hiriyadka, Rikesh Kadekar from Kadekar, Prakash from Moodubettu, Anand from Karkada and Raghavendra from Halady are also thriving in this space. Meanwhile, Prakash Moodubettu and Ramesh from Kota have gone a step further; they handle the entire cultivation process, from sowing to harvesting, completely through mechanisation.

DDA schedules meeting for auction of Rohini warehouse land parcel

New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has scheduled a meeting with potential buyers interested in the auction of a 23-acre land parcel in Rohini, Sector 36, earmarked for extensive warehousing operations, on Wednesday. The property will be available through an annual licensing fee arrangement of Rs 17.4 crore. While DDA previously auctioned land for warehouses, this initiative represents their first foray into developing a large-scale warehousing complex. With this, DDA intends to establish facilities that will discourage individuals from buying warehouse properties in NCR regions. The property will be leased for a duration of 33 years, with the licensee bearing responsibility for development, financing, operations, and maintenance of the project as stipulated in the licence deed. "The meeting has been called to discuss the queries as we are keen to roll out the plan in a time-bound manner," said a DDA official. According to the plan, upon the termination or expiry of the licence period in accordance with the provisions of this deed, the concessionaire will need to transfer the land to the authority. "The total land will be 23.2 acres, spreading across two plots with Plot-A measuring 10.43 acres and Plot-B measuring 12.73 acres. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo The concessionaire will be given 24 months, starting from the appointed date, to construct the complex," stated DDA's proposal. In procuring various approvals and clearances required for the project to the extent feasible, DDA will provide reasonable support. It is surrounded by residential areas with a mix of plotted development, group housing projects, DDA housing complexes, etc.," stated DDA proposal, adding that it is also close to some medical facilities like Maharishi Valmiki Hospital, Devansh Hospital, among others. |

Demand for premium liquor records 32% growth in state

1 2 Lucknow: Demand for premium liquor in Uttar Pradesh is showing a consistent upward trend. According to a recent report by ISWAI (International Spirits and Wines Association of India), demand for the imported category witnessed a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32% between 2019 and 2024. In contrast, the economy and medium segments recorded growth of 4 and 7% in the same period. The country liquor, however, continues to dominate the sector, with 65% of the market share. The report indicates that India is the fourth-largest market for alcoholic beverages in the world, trailing behind China, US and Japan. While the market value of the alcoholic beverages industry in the country is pegged at around Rs 4.97 lakh crore, that of Uttar Pradesh is estimated to be Rs 56,000 crore (in FY 2023-24). The state generated Rs 45,570 crore as excise duty in the 2023-24 financial year. The report, which was released on July 9 during the excise investors summit in Lucknow, shows a gradual premiumisation in consumer preference and growing economic prosperity across the key cities of the state. "Alcoholic beverage industry, through its linkages with agriculture, manufacturing, retail, tourism and hospitality, is emerging as a vital enabler for UP's economic growth," said excise commissioner Adarsh Singh. ISWAI regional director Parvinder Singh said: "Consumers in UP are shifting their preferences towards high-quality and premium categories of liquor. Considerable potential exists for further premiumisation in the sector, and the state can generate increased revenue by leveraging premium and higher-taxed segments." According to the report, the demand for spirits (whisky, vodka, rum, brandy and gin) increased from 23,177 crates in FY 2022-23 to 24,030 in FY 2023-24 (one crate contains 12 bottles, each having 750 ml of alcohol). The highest growth was witnessed for imported products in the corresponding period. Country liquor accounts for 65% of the demand, followed by beer (19%) while IMFL accounts for the remaining 16%. In terms of revenue, sales of country liquor brands account for 52%, IMFL 34% while beer accounts for 14%.
