Capitals will look to regain rhythm against a lacklustre Sunrisers
Having entered the season as one of the title favourites, failure on all fronts has reduced Sunrisers Hyderabad to an also-ran in IPL 2025.
While some convoluted mathematics keep the side in contention for the playoffs, Sunrisers have long lost control over their destiny coming into the clash with Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Monday.
When these two teams met in Visakhapatnam at the end of March, Mitchell Starc wreaked havoc. Sunrisers were four wickets down inside the PowerPlay and were staring at an embarrassingly low score until Aniket Verma announced his arrival with an exquisite knock (74, 41b, 5x4, 6x6), which, in the end, went in vain.
SRH breached the 200-run mark six times last season, but this time, it has done so just twice (vs Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings). Its 300-run ambitions have been reduced to dust. With a bowling unit that has largely lacked zing, the team has folded without much of a fight more often than not.
Capitals, too, have seen their form stutter in recent weeks. Having won their first four matches and topping the table then, they have won just two of the last six games, one via a Super Over. DC will look to regain rhythm heading into the season's business end.
Axar Patel has seemingly recovered from the injury he picked up against the Kolkata Knight Riders a few days ago. His return to full fitness will boost the side heading into this must-win contest.

'5 wickets in 5 balls': Digvesh Rathi does it again; Sanjiv Goenka can't keep calm
Digvesh Rathi (Image credit: BCCI/IPL) NEW DELHI: Just like every IPL season throws up young talents with remarkable abilities with both bat and ball, IPL 2025 too unearthed future stars for Indian cricket. Among them was mystery spinner Digvesh Rathi, who made a name for himself with an impressive showing for the Lucknow Super Giants. Rathi played 13 matches and picked up 14 wickets, impressing with his control over the run flow and his knack for striking at crucial moments. Following his breakout IPL season, Rathi has continued to dominate at the local level. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! In a video shared by the official X handle of LSG and team owner Sanjiv Goenka, Rathi is seen achieving a rare feat — picking up five wickets in five balls. "Digvesh Rathi. 5 stars," LSG's X handle wrote while posting the clip. "Stumbled upon this clip of Digvesh Rathi taking 5 in 5 in a local T20 game. Just a glimpse of the talent that made him a breakout star for @LucknowIPL in IPL 2025," Goenka posted on his X account. Rathi claimed a total of seven wickets in the match, including a sensational spell of five consecutive dismissals. While the name of the league isn't mentioned, Goenka's post confirms that it occurred during a local T20 match. Lobo Predicted It, Again: South Africa's Historic WTC Win vs Australia In the video, the batting side is already in trouble, needing 113 runs from 36 balls. Rathi tightens the screws further, using his deceptive googlies to dismantle the batting lineup — four batters were bowled, and the fifth was trapped LBW. Apart from his wicket-taking prowess, Rathi grabbed headlines for his 'notebook celebration' after dismissing batters. The unique gesture, however, came at a cost — he was slapped with hefty fines during the tournament for it.

Time for Jofra Archer to repay England's investment: Stuart Broad
It is probably time for fast bowler Jofra Archer to repay the investment that England cricket has put in him, said former cricketer Stuart Broad ahead of the Test series against who rose to popularity in 2019 for his exceptional fast bowling, has had his career marred with injuries. Archer showed promise by returning to action in the 2023 season, and then played most games in the Champions Trophy 2025 and the Indian Premier League as bowled in 12 matches of the IPL 2025, picking up 11 wickets. The speedster bowled some exceptional spells in the powerplay, wrecking the top orders. As England ready themselves for their home summer against India, Broad pointed out that the management has taken care of Archer over the last two years during his absence from the team, and it is probably time for the pacer to repay that trust. 'I'm assuming England have had him on a red-ball contract for a few years since he last made an impact,' Broad told the PA news agency. 'They'll be wanting to get some repayment out of that.'I'm sure he'll play a part at some stage if he's fit. It will just be making sure his body is hard enough to be able to do the job.'advertisementArcher has not played Test cricket since 2021. Incidentally, his last Test match was against India in 2021, when the side toured in the subcontinent for a 4-match series. Broad said that there is still no clarity about the fast bowler's fitness and it would not be known till Archer plays a Test match.'That is a really, really difficult question to answer because you can only really get match fit for a Test match by playing red-ball cricket. It will be a huge gamble. If we see him in whites for England this summer, there will be a lot of people chewing fingernails and praying a bone doesn't crack,' Broad Archer Fully Fit for Test Cricket? For someone who rose to prominence at the Ashes, Archer has played only 13 Test matches in nearly 6 years. Broad said that bowling 4 overs in the IPL was very different from bowling in a Test match and wagered that Archer was still not fit enough to bowl with the red ball, where pacers are needed to bowl 15–20 overs in a single day.'He didn't look match fit at the Champions Trophy. He bowled three or four nice overs and then struggled. He seemed to develop more of a match intensity at the IPL, which is mentally taxing but you're only bowling four overs,' Broad you come into Test match cricket and suddenly your distance is 50 km over five days, it's a completely different question,' he has been excluded from England's squad in the 1st Test match. He is expected to be in the running for the 2nd match, which starts on July Watch

Harbhajan passes verdict on Shardul Thakur vs Nitish Kumar Reddy selection battle for ENG Tests: ‘I am sure Gambhir…'
India has never been reliant on Shardul Thakur as a fast bowling all-rounder, especially with the 33-year-old being highly inconsistent in the batting department. But he recently proved his mettle during the intra-squad warm-up ahead of the England Tests with a century and was also among the wicket-takers. Lately, the Indian team has also used Nitish Kumar Reddy as a fast-bowling all-rounder and the SRH player has been a success. But his poor IPL 2025 form has cast question marks over his selection for the first Test. Speaking to PTI, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh gave his backing to Shardul, and felt that he holds an edge over Reddy for the fast bowling all-rounder slot in the team. 'India needs a bowler who can bat a bit. India have got a batting till No. 7, and at No. 8, you need to see who can bowl and get those wickets for you and bat a bit. Not someone who bats and bowls a little bit,' he said. 'That's where Shardul will have an edge on Nitish Reddy in my view. Nitish is a proper batsman who can definitely bowl. But we have not seen him bowling in the IPL much… 'Gautam (Gambhir) is there. He is a very capable coach. And I am sure he will take the right decision,' he added. Nitish featured in all five Tests in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and also got a ton at the MCG. Meanwhile, Shardul last represented India in a Test match in December 2023. He has registered 31 wickets in 11 Tests and has also bagged 331 runs. During the intra-squad match, Shardul smacked 122 runs off 68 balls, and also became the second India A player after Sarfaraz Khan to get a ton against the senior Indian team at Beckenham. Meanwhile, chief selector Ajit agarkar and BCCI's Centre of Excellence head VVS Laxman were in attendance as he got his ton.
