Celtic see £1.5m transfer offer for Danish winger rejected

Go Ahead Eagles have rejected a £1.5million offer from Celtic for Danish winger Jakob Breum.
The Parkhead club are in the market for wide men after selling Nicholas Kuhn to Como for £17m and losing the services of the injured Jota until early next year.
An offer for 21-year-old right sided attacker Breum fell well below the Dutch club's valuation of £5million.
Fighting off interest in Breum and midfielder Oliver Antman club director Jan Willem van Dop spoke of an offer from a 'foreign club' for the former earlier this month. Herald Sport understands the club in question was Celtic.
'The only thing that is going on and as far as we are concerned are the unsuccessful moves,' said Van Dop in an interview with RTTV Oost. 'There has been a bid for Jakob Breum from a foreign club

'We are so far apart there. You have to stand your ground. He may have to realise that it could be very good to stay with us at least until the winter break, just like Oliver Edvardsen.'
Breum moved to the Netherlands from Odense two years ago. Insisting that he had no intention of losing his coveted duo for a 'pittance' Van Dop added: 'We think that Breum and Antman should be allowed to leave for more than six million (£5million). If that doesn't happen with this club, then maybe another one will come. And if not, then we hope that with all the positive feelings they have, they will stay with us and go into Europe. Then we will see during the winter break.'
Celtic also have a long-term interest in Antwerp's Belgian winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha.
Jibril Rekkab has gone on the record saying that the player is open to the idea of joining Celtic, but claimed that negotiations had yet to kick in.

As grounded as he is talented, Oscar Onley has achieved something remarkable over the last three weeks but could probably still stroll along Princes Street unrecognised. The Kelso cyclist has just battled the world's best at the Tour de France and achieved the highest finish by a Scot since the mid-Eighties. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Onley, 22, went wheel to wheel with the likes of Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard across 21 brutal stages and finished in fourth place in the general classification. In doing so he matched the achievement of compatriot Philippa York (then known as Robert Millar) in 1984. 'I'm just enjoying what I'm doing and to be able to be up there with Pogačar and Vingegaard is an honour,' Onley said mid-race as he vied for a stage win alongside the sport's two giants. He was to be denied this year but the Team Picnic PostNL rider can point to a third-place finish in stage seven as a breakthrough moment and there were also a couple of fourth and fifth-place finishes along the way. But it was the way he came through the mountain stages that marked him out as a real contender. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I guess this is a really big moment in my career. I don't really realise it yet but I think just from talking to other riders in the bunch, going forward, we have something to build on and an exciting project for the future,' Onley told CyclingWeekly. He joined local club Kelso Wheelers but also showed an aptitude for cross-country running before committing to cycling. It has proved a wise choice. He is now team leader for Picnic PostNL and his future looks dazzlingly bright. 'We never really had the plan to go for GC [general classification] in the beginning,' Onley told ITV after the race. 'It was more just see how it goes. To be honest, I've never even thought about a top five in the Tour before, so to get it in my first try in GC is quite incredible and I'm excited for the future. 'It gives me a lot of confidence for the upcoming races as well as these are the top guys and in top shape in the biggest race. So if I can do it here then why not in other races? They've handled that really well because I think as soon as you say you are going for GC, there's a lot more attention on you. Celtic transfer need 'heightened' as Nygren clue factored in

The former Parkhead defender had forecast that his old club would need to bring in one more wideman before the closure of the transfer window. But that was with the expectation that new recruit Benjamin Nygren would play on one side. However, after watching the Swede play in central midfield against Ajax, that has forced him into a rethink. Celtic have already sold Nicolas Kuhn in this window and Yang has been linked with an exit, with Brendan Rodgers playing down the chance of him leaving. They've been on the trail of Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Jakob Breum but it remains to be seen if they can get deals done. Mulgrew would like to see both. Read more: "I said last week they need a winger," he told Go Radio. "After playing Ajax you seen Nygren playing as a kind of No8 midfielder. So you are thinking is that where he is going to play? So then you would think they need two wingers. "So I can understand why they wouldn't let Yang go. You can't let a winger go when you've not got any in the building or wingers ready to start and make an impact. "If Nygren is going to play as a No8 in the midfield area - I thought he came as a winger - then you need another two wingers. "So you need to keep a hold of Yang until you get replacements."

Three Celtic bids rejected Celtic have had three bids rejected for Go Ahead Eagles midfielder Jakob Breum, according to reports in the Netherlands. The reports claim Celtic made an initial bid of £1.3million, which was swiftly rejected, and the most recent offer also fell well short of his club's valuation. The 21-year-old, who is under contract until 2027, joined Go Ahead as a left winger from Odense two years ago but was transformed into a central attacking midfield player. The Serbian Under-21 international was linked with the Dons last season but no deal was agreed. According to Sky Sports, Aberdeen have returned to the table with the San Siro giants now considering selling the 21-year-old with a sell-on clause attached. Lazetic has made just two appearances for the Milan first-team and has spent most of his time with the Serie A side's development squad since joining from Red Star Belgrade in 2021. The 6ft 4in striker forward spent last season on loan at TSC back in his homeland, scoring three times in 43 appearances. He has also had loan spells with Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie and Rheindorf Altach in the Austrian Bundesliga. Lazetic is the nephew of Nikola Lazetic, who earned 25 caps for Serbia and Montenegro and is now president of the Serbian FC. Another uncle, Zarko Lazetic, played over 250 games for clubs in Serbia, Greece and Indonesia before becoming a manager. He is currently the boss of Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. The 17-year-old was left out of new manager Thomas Frank's 29-man squad for the pre-season trip to Hong Kong, remaining behind on Sunday as his team-mates departed for the Far East. Moore was left behind as he is expected to leave the club on loan and Rangers have reportedly emerged as favourites for his signature. While Rangers are hoping to sign a teenager from the Premier League, they have lost two others. Newcastle have announced that they have signed 16-year-old Scotland youth internationals Oliver Goodbrand and Alfie Hutchison from Rangers for their Under-18 squad. Defender Goodbrand was a regular for Rangers Under-18s and made his B team debut in a Glasgow Cup win over Partick Thistle. Hutchison, who scored two goals in another Glasgow Cup triumph over Queen's Park, had joined Rangers from Hearts 12 months ago.
