He was speaking at the Sri Krishna Janmashtami event held at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall on Saturday. The event was organised by the Dakshina Kannada district administration, zilla panchayat, Kannada and Culture Department, Dakshina Kannada District Golla Samaja Seva Sangha, and the Yadava Sabha Karnataka Central Committee. He emphasised that everyone should follow the ideals of Lord Krishna, who was a person of great character and virtues.
Dhananjay Kumble, a professor at SVP Institute of Studies, Mangalore University, said that Lord Krishna never tolerated wickedness or injustice throughout his life. He incarnates to establish righteousness when unrighteousness prevails. He liberates women from the clutches of evil and maintains a special affection for cows throughout his life. Overall, he is renowned for promoting women's liberation and devotion to cows.

Liquor shops closed
As a precautionary measure and to maintain law and order during Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in the district, the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Darshan HV has ordered the closure of all liquor shops, bars, and wine shops in the procession routes till Sunday.

Janmashtami celebrations held with devotional fervour
Sathupalli (Khammam): Markingthe occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, grand celebrations were inaugurated at the Sri Krishna Temple in Bethupalli village on Saturday. Devotees gathered in large numbers to participate in the festivities, which commenced with special rituals and traditional pujas. The temple's chief priest, Srinivasacharyulu, performed the ceremonies and addressed the devotees on the spiritual significance of the day. He stated, 'In every yuga, Lord Srimannarayana incarnates for the welfare of humanity. In the Dwapara Yuga, He took the form of Sri Krishna, annihilated the evil king Kamsa, and gifted the world the essence of life through the Bhagavad Gita. His teachings continue to guide mankind, and He should be seen as an ideal for all.' The temple was decorated with flowers and lights. A specially adorned idol of Lord Krishna in his child form was the centre of attraction, drawing hundreds of devotees. Special bhajans, cultural programs, and offerings marked the beginning of the multi-day celebrations. The event was attended by prominent leaders including Khammam Parliament Convenor Namburi Ramalingeshwar Rao, State Executive Member Ramesh, Matta Prasad, Banoth Vijay, former Mandal President Palakollu Srinivas, Chanti Kakinada Srinivas, Karri Venkateswarlu, Nagaraju, and others.

Tirupati: Gomata is revered as the embodiment of all deities in Vedas and Puranas as narrated in Hindu religious scriptures and safeguarding them with the active participation of devotees shall be taken up in a big way, asserted TTD EO J Syamala Rao. As part of Sri Krishna Janmashtami (Gokulashtami) celebrations, Go Puja Mahotsavam was held at Sri Venkateswara Gosamrakshana Shala in Tirupati on Saturday. The EO emphasised on protection of cows and informed that Gosamrakshana Shala currently shelters 2,789 animals — including 1,827 cows, 962 bulls, 7 elephants, and 5 horses. He said that through Embryo Transfer Technology, developed with Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, 47 superior Sahiwal calves have been produced. With devotees' cooperation, 539 native cows have already been brought to Gosamrakshana Shala. Plans are underway to add another 500 indigenous breeds (Gir, Kankrej, Tharparkar, Red Sindhi) with public participation. With an investment of Rs 12.25 crore, TTD has set up SV Cattle Fodder Production Unit to ensure high-quality balanced feed for native breeds. A committee of Gosala experts advises on cattle health, nutrition, breeding, and welfare. Earlier, the EO performed Gopuja and later devotional cultural programs including Annamacharya Sankeertanas, bhajans, kolatam, and Harikatha continued till evening. The event was presided over by Gosala Director Srinivas. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu, CV & SO Muralikrishna, TTD Ex-officio Member C Divakar Reddy, officials, and large number of devotees took part.
