Eastern Football Club on Saturday held on to their Hong Kong FA Cup title, thanks to a brilliant hat-trick by forward Noah Baffoe late in the game.
BC Rangers' Lau Chi-lok opened the scoring early in the final at Mong Kok Stadium, finding the net less than 10 minutes after the match began.
But Baffoe, the 32-year-old Eastern striker who had just been crowned Hong Kong Footballer of the Year, netted three goals in five minutes from the 80th minute to secure a 3-1 comeback for Eastern.
This is the club's seventh FA Cup win in its history.

Palace lose appeal against Europa League demotion
Palace lose appeal against Europa League demotion European football's governing body demoted Crystal Palace last month. Photo: Reuters Crystal Palace's appeal over their demotion from the Europa League to the Uefa Conference League has been rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). The London club, who won last season's FA Cup, fell foul of Uefa's rules governing multi-club ownership. European football's governing body determined that as of March 1, American businessman John Textor had control or influence in Palace and French club Lyon. It means under Uefa rules they are unable to compete in the same European competition and Lyon held on to the Europa League spot by virtue of their higher league position. Palace appealed to Cas last month after Textor agreed to sell his 43 percent stake in the Premier League club to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson. However, that deal was struck well after Uefa's deadline of March 1 for multi-club conflicts to be resolved. "After considering the evidence, the Panel found that John Textor, founder of Eagle Football Holdings, had shares in CPFC and OL and was a Board member with decisive influence over both clubs at the time of Uefa's assessment date," Cas said in a statement. "The Panel considered that the Uefa Regulations are clear and do not provide flexibility to clubs that are non-compliant on the assessment date, as CPFC claimed," it added. Palace, who beat Liverpool on penalties to win the Community Shield after a 2-2 draw at Wembley on Sunday, will enter the Uefa Conference League in the play-off round later this month. Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League, are set to replace Palace in the second-tier Europa League. (AFP)

Crystal Palace humble Liverpool in Community Shield
Crystal Palace humble Liverpool in Community Shield Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi lifts the trophy as he celebrates with teammates after winning the FA Community Shield. Photo: Reuters Crystal Palace beat Premier League champions Liverpool 3-2 on penalties to win the Community Shield after an entertaining 2-2 draw at Wembley on Sunday, with keeper Dean Henderson reprising his penalty-saving heroics from their FA Cup final triumph. Substitute Justin Devenny scored the winning spot kick, after Mohamed Salah skied the Reds' first penalty and Henderson – who saved an Omar Marmoush penalty as Palace won their first major trophy against Manchester City in May – then saved efforts from Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott. "They were 2-1 up, you would think we were out of the game," Henderson said. "The manager said we would get chances in the second half ... and we deserved that in the end." New recruit Hugo Ekitike had put Liverpool ahead inside four minutes after he and record signing Florian Wirtz combined beautifully before the Frenchman produced a superb finish. But Palace deservedly levelled in the 17th minute, Jean-Philippe Mateta sending Alisson the wrong way from the penalty spot after Virgil van Dijk brought down Ismaila Sarr. Close-season signing Jeremie Frimpong restored the Reds' lead, as Liverpool fans marked the death of Portugal forward Diogo Jota with 20 minutes on the clock in honour of his shirt number, sending an attempted cross looping in off the post. "We could have maybe scored the third one in the first 15 to 20 minutes after halftime but we didn't, we kept them alive," Liverpool boss Arne Slot said. Palace's England forward Eberechi Eze tested Alisson with a low shot before the Londoners equalised again with 13 minutes to play, Sarr slotting past the onrushing Alisson. Devenny got the winner in the shootout with an emphatic penalty to give Palace a third victory at Wembley in a row. Palace boss Oliver Glasner said he was "very happy with the squad", though he added that this season's European campaign – with Palace expected to find out on Monday if it will be in the Europa League or Conference League – will increase demands. He revealed that Northern Ireland midfielder Devenny had even volunteered for the pressure penalty. "Justin came (to me and said) 'I'll take it, I'll take the last one'," the Palace manager said, complimenting the 21-year-old's confidence. (Reuters)

Manchester City sign record kit deal with Puma
Manchester City sign record kit deal with Puma City's 10-year contract extension with Puma is among the largest kit partnerships in Premier League history. Photo: Reuters Manchester City have signed a blockbuster new kit deal with Puma worth a reported £1 billion over the next 10 years. City's extension of their contract with Puma ranks as the largest kit manufacturing partnership in Premier League history. Having agreed a £65 million per year deal with the German company in 2019, City's new arrangement is believed to be worth a £100 million per year until 2035, according to British media reports. That figure shatters the £90 million per year deal signed by Manchester United with Adidas in 2023. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are both reported to have kit deals worth in excess of £100 million per year. "We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond the expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons," City Football Group chief executive Ferran Soriano said. "Puma have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we have enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally," he added. Puma chief executive Arthur Hoeld added: "Puma's partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch. Trophies, a perfect stage for our performance products and commercial success were exceptional." City's massive deal comes after the club's first season without major silverware since 2016-17. Pep Guardiola's men finished third in the Premier League after winning the title for the previous four seasons. They also suffered a shock FA Cup final defeat against Crystal Palace and crashed out of the recent Club World Cup in the last 16 against Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. (AFP)
