Bryce Dallas Howard Claimed A Director Once Insulted Her Dad, Ron Howard, And Threw Water In Her Face
You probably know that the Jurassic World star is also the daughter of award-winning director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code).
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Bryce explained an alleged exchange she had with Danish director Lars von Trier where he tried to use her father's job against her.
Bryce starred in the 2005 drama Manderlay, a direct sequel to Dogville (2003). Bryce had replaced Nicole Kidman as Grace Margaret Mulligan from the first movie.

She said the moment she arrived at the set for Manderlay in Norway, Lars allegedly spoke negatively of her dad in an attempt to upset her. "He started insulting me: 'Your father's a terrible film-maker,'" she remembered. "I went, 'Lars, what are you trying to see?' and he said, 'Your angry face. I don't know what it looks like.'"
Bryce claimed that Lars then threw a glass of water in her face. "So I threw a glass of water in his face. He goes, 'Why did you do that?' and got up and left."
She said she was actually unfazed and actually entertained by the interaction. "That was my introduction to the Lars von Trier experience, but it wasn't like I went to my room and cried or anything. I was sort of delighted by it."

Lars is a director with a reputation for his erratic behavior and even faced several allegations several years back for his behavior on set.
In 2017, Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk posted about her treatment by a Danish director.

When the media connected the dots that Björk starred as Selma Ježková in Lars von Trier's 2000 musical psychological tragedy Dancer in the Dark, Lars came forward and denied the accusations.
Björk posted another statement in the midst of #MeToo social movement, doubling down her claims while still remaining not to directly name the director.
Björk wrote, "After each take the director ran up to me and wrapped his arms around me for a long time in front of all crew or alone and stroked me sometimes for minutes against my wishes," Björk wrote. "While filming in Sweden, he threatened to climb from his room's balcony over to mine in the middle of the night with a clear sexual intention, while his wife was in the room next door."
In November 2017, the Guardian reported that Zentropa, the film studio co-founded by Lars and former CEO Peter Aalbæk Jensen, faced several allegations of "sexual harassment, degradation and bullying," per several Danish news publications. While Lars wasn't named in these allegations, Peter resigned from his CEO position as the accusations poured in.

BBC Radio Scotland's Bryan Burnett to return to airwaves after cancer treatment
BBC Radio Scotland presenter Bryan Burnett will return to the airwaves on Thursday after undergoing cancer treatment. The broadcaster announced in June he would step back from his programme Get It On to receive care for appendix cancer. Fellow presenter Grant Stott, who stepped in during his absence, announced his return to listeners on Tuesday night. He said: 'In what must have been a terrible time for Bryan and his family and close friends, I'm just delighted I was able to help by looking after something that is very precious to Bryan; Get It On and his listeners. 'Getting to do the show over this time has shown me just how close the audience is to Bryan and vice versa. 'I know they will be delighted to get their radio teatime pal back.' Burnett said his treatment had been successful and thanked those who had wished him well throughout his recovery. Commenting on his return, he said: 'I am delighted to be returning to work following successful treatment for appendix cancer. 'Over the past few months I have been focused on my recovery and have been supported by an incredible medical team, my family and friends, and the overwhelming kindness of so many BBC Radio Scotland listeners who have reached out with encouragement and well-wishes. 'Their messages, cards and kindness have meant so much. 'My team at the BBC have also been a huge support and I want to thank Grant Stott, who has been sitting in for me and done such a great job looking after the show. 'My return to work will be gradual to ensure I maintain my health and energy. Cancer has given me a renewed perspective on what matters most and I am excited about the road ahead and grateful for the opportunity to return to doing what I'm passionate about.' Hayley Valentine, director BBC Scotland, said: 'Like the Get it On listeners, everyone at BBC Scotland is delighted to be welcoming Bryan back to the studio following what has been a tough couple of months for him. We look forward to seeing and hearing him back where he belongs.' Stott will share Get it On presenting duties with Bryan during his phased return. Burnett's first Get it On show will be Thursday 14 August 14 6pm to 8pm.

1,600-Year-Old Depiction of Roman Flip-Flops Look So Real It Makes You Want to Wear Them
The ancient estate of Villa Romana del Casale in Sicily is known for featuring some of the most beautiful examples of Roman mosaics preserved in their original location. As if the site wasn't already famous enough, researchers and students have uncovered a mosaic of sandals so modern-looking they could be straight out of a Havaianas commercial. The sandals, part of a larger mosaic decorating the floors of the villa's southern thermal area, consist of two pale flip-flops with slightly elongated big toes and black thongs. All in all, they look incredibly familiar, as if you could kick off your shoes and slip them on yourself. 'These are not simple decorations, but a refined work created by a mosaic craftsman of the 4th century AD,' reads a recent statement in Italian by the autonomous region of Sicily. Along with the 1,600-year-old flip-flop depiction, archaeologists also uncovered a mosaic inscription (whose text is not revealed in the statement) and three columns. These findings 'confirm once again the Villa's extremely high level of artistry and architecture,' the statement continues. The archaeological work included over 40 students and researchers from around the world who participated via the international Summer School of Archaeology ArchLabs (Archaeological heritage in Late Antique and Byzantine Sicily). The recently discovered flip-flops are by no means the first mosaic at Villa Romana del Casale to exhibit beach vibes. One of the most famous mosaics at the villa is often referred to as the 'bikini girls' mosaic. As the nickname suggests, it features a number of women wearing what appear to be bikinis as they pass a ball around, like an ancient version of catch or volleyball. Careful observers, however, will notice that one of the depicted women is carrying weights—which strikingly look like modern five-pound dumbbells—while another prepares to throw a disc. In fact, the ten women are actually participating in athletic competitions, and the mosaic is also called 'le Palestriti,' palestra meaning gym in Italian. As for the flip-flops, they weren't strictly beachwear for the ancient Romans. Sandals were common footwear throughout the ancient Roman world. Interestingly (and uncomfortably), some suggest that unlike the ancient Greeks, the straps on Roman sandals fit between the second and third toes. As the flip-flop mosaic at Villa Romana del Casale doesn't include actual feet, we'll never know how they would have been worn. Ultimately, the recent discovery stands as a reminder that we're not all that different from the people that flip-flopped around that ancient villa over a dozen centuries ago. … unless they really did wear the thong between their second and third toes. That's just weird.

For the past several weeks, both Ozzy Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath have appeared in lofty positions on the charts in the United Kingdom, as listeners in the late rocker's home country mourn his passing and honor his legacy by streaming and buying his biggest hits. As is always the case when such a surge occurs for a sad reason, those tunes have started to decline, especially on the country's rundown of the top rock and metal tracks.
