Costumes From ‘A Room With a View,' ‘Out of Africa' to Be Displayed at the Fashion and Textile Museum
ALL ABOUT THE COSTUMES: This fall the Fashion and Textile Museum in London will be spotlighting the work of Cosprop, a costumier in north London that's been behind the costumes of 'A Room With a View,' 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Mrs Harris Goes to Paris.'
'Costume Couture' will open on Sept. 26 and run until spring 2026.

The exhibition will also include costumes from television series such as 'Downtown Abbey' and 'Peaky Blinders.'
Cosprop has been dressing the screen since 1965. The business was founded by costume designer John Bright, who has been nominated six times for an Oscar and picked up the award in 1987 for his work on 'A Room With a View' starring Helena Bonham Carter.
The museum will exhibit rich costumes, from a belted wedding suit and embroidered silk hat worn by Meryl Streep in 'Out of Africa'; the romantic costumes of 'Pirates of the Caribbean'; the sharp tailoring of 'Peaky Blinders,' and Cate Blanchett's velvet robes from 'Elizabeth.'
'There's a lot of fantasy in the story, but not in the costumes. We want these clothes to look like they've been slept in and worn forever. Aging and dyeing for a period film are absolutely vital,' said Penny Rose, the costume designer behind 'Evita,' 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.'
At Cosprop, Bright has put a real focus on the fabrics used with the use of natural wools, silks, cottons, muslins and satins.
The exhibition will chart the importance of costume design for film narratives.
In the 1996 film 'The Portrait of a Lady' starring Nicole Kidman, her clothes signify her oppression as she goes from being a young American heiress to an oppressed aristocrat.
Bright's work in costume design has always dabbled in period dramas. He's also worked on 'Onegin' starring Ralph Fiennes and 'Maurice,' which was directed by James Ivory, a longtime collaborator of the costume designer.

Stephen Graham, who co-created, co-wrote and stars in the critically acclaimed Netflix series 'Adolescence,' hopes that the show sparks conversations at home. 'When me and Jack (co-creator, Jack Thorne) started talking about this and writing and creating it, we wanted there to be conversations between parents and children,' he told The Post exclusively at the Gotham Television Awards on Monday, June 2. London's Lord Mayor, Sadiq Khan, recently praised the show for highlighting the 'epidemic of violence against women and girls' in the United Kingdom. 'I read an article in the newspaper, which was about a young boy who had stabbed a young girl to death. And … I was stunned by what I was reading,' he said in March, per NPR. You go through a lot of different things, physically, mentally, and even spiritually in the greater scheme of things,' the actor shared. 'My main question was why: Why is this happening?' Graham continued, 'There's a wonderful saying, which is, it takes a village to raise a child. And within that kind of complexity … it's kind of like, maybe we're all accountable. Sabrina Carpenter's ‘Manchild' Lyrics Seem to Be Savage Message to Ex Barry Keoghan
Sabrina Carpenter is making an early bid for song of the summer with the release of her new single 'Manchild.' Leading up to its release, fans wondered whether Carpenter's lyrics were aimed at her ex Barry Keoghan given the track name and promo language (specifically her announcement post saying, 'this one's about you!!'). The song doesn't explicitly call Keoghan out by name, but it generally alludes to the annoyance of having to deal with an immature man. Meet Steve Jobs' youngest daughter, Eve Jobs, an equestrian and model making a name for herself outside Silicon Valley
Eve Jobs, the youngest child of Steve Jobs and Laurene Powell-Jobs, was born in 1998. Jobs, 26, has three older siblings named Reed, Erin, and Lisa. She was 13 when their father died in October 2011. In high school, Jobs balanced equestrian sports in Florida with applying to colleges and attending high school in California. Jobs said her school allowed her to make up for missed classes through Upper Echelon Academy, a tutoring program based in Wellington, Florida. "It took me a long time to figure out how to balance friends, school, and riding, but through the years I figured out the best way to make it all work is to prioritize what is most important to you," Jobs said in a 2016 interview with Upper Echelon Academy. The interview has since been removed from Upper Echelon Academy's website, but an archived version is still available online. Jobs graduated from Stanford University in 2021, the same school where her parents met. Jobs is an accomplished equestrian who once hoped to compete in the Olympics. When it comes to the future, Isaacson wrote that Steve Jobs joked that he could envision her running Apple or becoming president of the United States.
