Sabrina Carpenter's ‘Manchild' Lyrics Seem to Be Savage Message to Ex Barry Keoghan
The song doesn't explicitly call Keoghan out by name, but it generally alludes to the annoyance of having to deal with an immature man. The chorus goes, 'Man-child / Why you always come a-running to me? / Fuck my life / Won't you let an innocent woman be?'
Keoghan and Carpenter first sparked romantic rumors in late 2023 before going public with their relationship in February 2024. Their relationship included a Met Gala date and Keoghan starring in Carpenter's music video for 'Please Please Please.'
Those lyrics seemed to have a message for him too, with her singing: 'I heard that you're an actor / So act like a stand up guy / Whatever devil's inside you / Don't let him out tonight / I tell them it's just your culture / And everyone rolls their eyes / Yeah I know / All I'm asking baby / Please please please don't prove I'm right / Please please please / Don't bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice / Heartbreak is one thing / My ego's another / I beg you don't embarrass me / Mother fucker ahhh / Please please please.'
Sadly, their love story didn't last and fizzled out in December 2024. A source told Entertainment Tonight, 'Things didn't end well, and they are taking space from each other. Sabrina and Barry are definitely broken up right now. Sabrina isn't sad over the breakup and is staying busy and distracted.'
The insider added that 'Sabrina is figuring out what she wants and is focused on her career.'
Carpenter hasn't dated anyone publicly since Keoghan—but chances are she has plenty of private stories to draw inspiration from, too.
Whether Keoghan or someone else is her muse, the star isn't likely to share the subject of 'Manchild.' She told W magazine last year that she doesn't want to put her love life up for public consumption. 'I get why people are interested,' she conceded. 'But they can listen to my album and decide for themselves what the songs are about.'
'Manchild' offers fans an opportunity to do just that. Listen to the song below and read the lyrics, courtesy of Genius:

Sophie Cunningham Could Receive Another WNBA Fine After Latest Remarks
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. By now, one would think Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham would have learned her lesson about public criticism of WNBA officials. Twice already this season Cunningham has been fined by the league for disparaging remarks against its refs. The first incident happened roughly two weeks ago when she posted a TikTok video on July 18 where she was lip-synching Sabrina Carpenter's song "Manchild," specifically mouthing the words "Stupid, or is it, slow? Or maybe, useless?" with the caption "@ some refs" across the screen. That incident cost her $500. More WNBA: Angel Reese Sends Cryptic 3-Word Message Before Sky vs Sun The second time came a little over a week ago when she, again, ripped on the refs for the inconsistency of their foul calls on the debut episode of her "Show Me Something" podcast, which she co-hosts with "Summer House" star West Wilson, which led to a $1,500 fine. Sophie Cunningham #8 of the Indiana Fever reacts to a three-point shot ahead of Satou Sabally #0 of the Phoenix Mercury during the second half of the WNBA game at PHX Arena on August 07, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Mercury defeated the Fever 95-60. More"I'm not saying that your job is easy, but when it is a simple call right in front of your face multiple times, what are you doing?" Cunningham asked. "They're just so inconsistent, like that's one thing. If you're on the other team, and you're going to be fouling the [expletive] out of me, cool. But let me do it to you. "I think players across the league, and new fans across the country are like, what is going on with the refs? And I'm like, 'I don't know.' And you fining me $500 is not going to do [expletive]." More WNBA: Fever Coach Stephanie White Gives Major Caitlin Clark Injury Update And now Cunningham is back on her podcast, yet again, putting WNBA officials on blast for what she perceived as favoritism of Dallas Stars rookie star Paige Bueckers in Tuesday's 81-80 win over the Fever. Sophie Cunningham RIPS WNBA REFS over Paige Bueckers special whistle😬 'Those refs were given her every freaking whistle last night' 'To get the treatment she got last night was crazy' — Jmac| Ball Up 🏀| WNBA & NBA | (@Gameis_gameLFG) August 13, 2025 "I love Paige to death — do not get me wrong, I think she's a hell of a player and like I would love to play with her one day — but those refs were giving her every [expletive] whistle last night," Cunningham said. More WNBA: Fever Coach Stephanie White Gives Major Caitlin Clark Injury Update "Like, you literally couldn't touch her, and that [expletive] is so annoying to me. And if you're going to do that, give it to our guards. We know she's a good rookie and she's going to get some whistles, but like to get the treatment she got last night, was crazy." While it's not guaranteed that Cunningham will be fined a third time, it's a safe bet considering how strict the WNBA is with its crackdown on being critical of its officials. Interestingly enough, Bueckers only attempted four free throws in Tuesday's contest (she made all four), and she finished with 16 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and two steals in 35 minutes. The Real Reason Taylor Swift Waited to Announce Her Album on Travis Kelce's Podcast
THE RUNDOWN Taylor Swift has announced her albums in various ways over the years, from posting on social media to slipping it into a speech at the Grammys. For her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl, Swift dropped the news in the most meaningful place yet: on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast, New Heights. A source told Entertainment Tonight this choice was deliberate: 'She wanted to save the news of her album for his podcast as a way of supporting Travis and his platform—just as he's always championed her.'Two years into dating, 'Taylor feels completely at ease with Travis,' the insider added. 'They see each other as true partners in every sense. With Travis, Taylor can be her unfiltered self and never feels the need to put on a performance. She's excited for fans to see what she has in store on New Heights.' The episode airs tonight at 7 P.M. ET. Earlier this week, GQ ran its cover story with Kelce, where he spoke about their relationship and how much he enjoys supporting her onstage and off. 'I get to be the plus one,' he said. 'I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan. I'm a fan of music. I'm a fan of art. And it's so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field…. I feel that same enjoyment every time she comes to my shows.' He added that Swift is a huge supporter of him, too: 'I sort of made her a football fan. She is the most engulfed fan now. She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short—all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.' 'I hadn't experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions,' he admitted. 'That was very relatable, seeing how exhausted she would get after shows. She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I've seen what she goes through. I've seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it's mind-blowing.'

Katy Perry And Justin Trudeau Relationship Update
Wake up, babe — there's new reports on the strangest celeb relationship of the year. At the end of last month, Bingo cards across North America were decimated by photos of Katy Perry — who, in case you forgot, is newly split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom — out to dinner with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Since then, there have been reports that Justin is "figuring out his life" (pretty relatable!) after being the literal Prime Minister of Canada (OK, maybe not)... While Orlando, cheeky devil that he is, showed his seeming approval towards a joke making light of the emergent and deeply weird situation. Now, Entertainment Tonight has new reports on the situation at hand — and it certainly seems like these crazy kids are giving it a go, albeit very casually. A source tells the publication about Katy and Justin, 'They're just having fun and getting to know each other. Justin is charismatic and has great energy, which is exactly what Katy wants and needs at the moment. For now, things are just casual.' Perhaps unsurprisingly, it does sound like things are less good when it comes to Katy and Orlando. The source also claims that the exes 'still aren't great' and that 'their relationship is a bit awkward and strained.' Makes sense, if true! We've reached out to Katy and Orlando's people for further comment — and if we hear anything back, you'll be the first to know.
