The San Mateo Police Department responded at 5:58 p.m. to the 100 block of South Humboldt Street on the report of a strong-arm robbery. Officers at the scene noted that the victim had a large bruise over his left eye, among other visible facial injuries. The victim told the responding officers that he recognized three of the suspects and provided their first names.
Following the attack, a San Mateo officer saw a vehicle similar to the reported Honda near El Camino Real and 12th Avenue and conducted a traffic stop, police said. Four individuals inside the vehicle were detained while the victim arrived to identify the suspects as the same as those involved in the robbery.
Police identified the driver as Ever Jacabo-Castro, 21, of Foster City. Two of the three passengers were 17-year-old boys, and the other was a 14-year-old boy, according to authorities. All four were arrested and booked for second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime.

SF SoMA sex shop sued for allegedly selling ‘toxic' mouth gags
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A decades-old sex shop in San Francisco's SoMa (South of Market) neighborhood is being sued for allegedly selling mouth gags laced with toxic chemicals without a clear warning label. A civil case filed on Friday, June 6 by Seven Hills LLP on behalf of Blue Sky Forever says that Mr. S. Leather Co., Incorporated violated a health and safety code for not letting customers know about the dangers of a product called 'The Jaw Master Gag' and the 'harms caused by exposures to di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate ('DEHP'), a toxic chemical found in and on gags manufactured, imported, distributed, sold, and offered for sale.' See court document hereDownload Mr. S Leather is located at 385 8th St. and has been in business since 1979. 'Detectable levels of DEHP are found in and on the gags Defendants manufacture, import, sell and distribute for sale in California,' the suit adds, saying that exposures to DEHP can cause birth defects and other reproductive issues. On its website, Mr. S. Leather states, 'We've been designing and producing exceptional bondage gear as well as leather, neoprene & sports clothing for kinky guys since 1979…When you're ready for the good stuff – Mr. S Leather is a place you'll want to check out.' The court document says the case is actionable, thanks to Proposition 65, and that Mr. S. Leather could face civil penalties of up to $2,500 per day for each violation. 'On October 24, 2003, pursuant to Proposition 65 implementing regulations, the State of California listed DEHP as a chemical known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm,' says the suit. 'DEHP became subject to the 'clear and reasonable warning' requirements one year later, on October 24, 2004.' KRON4 reached out to Mr. S. Leather before the publication of this article and will update this story with a provided statement. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Hit-and-run driver who ran over, seriously injured 5-year-old charged: SF DA
(KRON) — An alleged hit-and-run driver who ran over a 5-year-old girl while she was riding through a San Francisco crosswalk on her bike now faces criminal charges. On May 24 at about 6:14 p.m., 35-year-old Jonathan Lam hit and seriously injured the girl near the intersection of 31st Avenue and Clement Street, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced in a statement Friday. 'The victim, a 5-year old, was riding her bike in the crosswalk with her mother a few steps behind her … when Mr. Lam allegedly turned left onto 31st Avenue running over the victim,' the DA's office said in a statement. Vendor fraudsters scammed Fremont business out of $180K: PD Lam was driving a rented Jeep Wagoneer SUV at the time of the crash and drove away from the scene without stopping, the DA's office said. The 5-year-old girl was taken to the hospital for serious injuries and was in critical condition following the crash. Lam was arrested by San Francisco Police on June 1. Lam faces one count of leaving the scene of an accident with an allegation that the crash resulted in serious injury to the victim. Lam posted $100,000 bail on June 2 and is currently out of custody. ‘Be like Boomer': Oakland teacher mourned at large memorial service
OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — Castlemont High School teacher Marvin Boomer was honored and remembered by family members, students, friends, and city leaders Friday during a large memorial service at Acts Full Gospel Church in Oakland. Boomer was killed in May 28, just two days before his senior students received their diplomas at Castlemont High School's graduation ceremony. Boomer and his girlfriend, Nina, were out on an evening stroll May 28 when a stolen car zoomed through an Oakland neighborhood and crashed into them on a sidewalk, investigators said. Less than a minute before the crash, the teenaged driver was chased by California Highway Patrol officers. The teacher pushed his girlfriend out of the direct path of a car that slammed into Boomer, according to a home surveillance video reviewed by KRON4 and a statement from his family. His family described the act of heroism as 'a final act of love and selflessness,' his family wrote. East Oakland community members were invited to attend the church service, which was also livestreamed by Acts Full Gospel Church. Nina was emotional as she talked about the love of her life. 'I called him 'Mr. Wonderful.' Marvin and I shared something special, it was rare. It was deeply rooted in honesty, intention, and love. We knew everything about each other, not just the easy parts, but the hard truths,' Nina said. She also spoke about the tragedy, and remembered seeing a CHP patrol car racing by. 'We didn't even know what we were walking into. Speeding through neighborhoods, high speed chases through residential neighborhoods, should not be commonplace in the city that I love. I was raised in East Oakland. It's sad to say I lost the love of my life in Oakland. And I'm mad. It was preventable. No one should have to endure this,' Nina said. The math teacher is remembered for taking students under his wings as Castlemont's College and Career Pathways Coach, as well as making 'being smart cool,' friends said. Boomer had recently completed his Ph.D in Educational Research and Policy Analysis. One of the teacher's best friends stood up in the church and said, 'Be like Boomer.' Students said their teacher cared about them, he could turn any bad day around into a good day, and he was always smiling. One Castlemont student said she had promised Boomer that she would return a stuffed bear that she borrowed from school after she graduated. The recent graduate gave the stuffed bear to his family on Friday. 'Dr. Boomer was more than a teacher — he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of strength and inspiration in the halls of Castlemont. His legacy will live on in the school community and in the countless lives he helped shape,' Oakland Unified School District officials wrote. Family members decided to have an open-casket viewing Friday because the teacher had a widespread impact spreading his joy for learning and education. A verified GoFundMe page is raising donations to honor Boomer's legacy. Nina said, 'I am grateful to have known him. I hope you will use his life as a call to action. To smile every day. Use his life as a light to be your best self.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
