More about BTS
After over a year of service, BTS members RM and V were officially discharged from the South Korean military last week. The following day, Jimin and Jung Kook also completed their enlistment, wrapping up their duties and marking the end of a chapter that began in December 2023, when all four members enlisted around the same time.
Among the group, six members served active duty in the army. SUGA, however, carried out his mandatory service as a social service agent, an alternative system assigned due to health reasons—specifically, a shoulder surgery he underwent prior to enlistment.

NBA ambassador Suga of BTS is back after completing South Korea's mandatory military service
Suga (Image via Getty Images) NBA Global ambassador, Suga of BTS, aka Min Yoongi, has finally completed his mandatory service, which every able-bodied male has to undergo in South Korea. The official handle of the NBA on X (formerly Twitter), along with thousands of BTS fans, took the opportunity to welcome him back after more than 18 months of being away. They also hinted at future schedules that will see Suga courtside for some games, possibly by next season. NBA welcomes Suga of BTS back after completing mandatory military service BTS is finally back as all seven members have completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. The world-famous K-Pop group went on hiatus because of their military duties back in December 2022, when their eldest member Jin became the first to enlist. After that, every member left to join the army and complete their service to the country. With Suga back, all seven members have successfully completed their service and will be back inside the recording studio in no time. "With pride and excitement, we welcome NBA Ambassador SUGA back! 🇰🇷✨ The journey continues, and we look forward to cheering with you at games very soon. Stay tuned for more! 🏀 #SUGAxNBA #BTS #WelcomeBack #NBAAmbassador" The NBA also took this opportunity to welcome their global ambassador, Suga, back from service with a simple tweet, and an Instagram story saying - 'Welcome back @agustd.' Unlike the rest of his BTS brothers, Suga did not join the military, but was part of what is known as Special Services in South Korea. It was because of a shoulder injury he sustained years ago, which is also the reason his service was longer compared to the rest of the members. But now, with him being the last member to come back, BTS has finally reunited. Their company, HYBE, and their label Big Hit Music released a statement welcoming the rapper and letting the fans know that he is back safe and sound. And fans are no doubt, overjoyed. "We confirm that Suga effectively completed his alternative service on June 18 by using his remaining leave. His official discharge date is June 21." All seven members of the K-Pop group were last seen at a concert of BTS's J-Hope in Seoul on June 13, which was also their 12th anniversary since debut. BTS is set to make their comeback early next year and commence on a world tour soon after.
