Delhi Metro: Travellers can now buy tickets directly from Uber App — Check details
Uber India announced on Monday, 19 May 2025, that they are collaborating with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation using the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), reported the news agency PTI. Delhi will become the first city for Uber to roll out this service.
Uber, a cab-hailing services firm, is now offering travellers the option to book Delhi Metro tickets at a 50 per cent discount.
'Good news riders! You can now book your Delhi Metro tickets at a 50% discount directly in the Uber app. No more long queues or tokens, just tap, pay, and scan your QR code at the gate,' said Uber in a promotional email, checked by Mint.
'And since all Delhiites love a good deal, you get 50% off on your ticket!' they said.
Starting today, Uber users in Delhi can now plan their metro rides by purchasing their QR-based tickets from the Uber app. This also gives travellers access to real-time transit information of their commute, according to the agency report.
Uber also said that there will be three other cities across India to have the same service like in Delhi in the year 2025, as per the report.
This comes after Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi's visit to India in 2024, where he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate with ONDC to advance the reach and impact of India's digital public goods.
'India has taken an impressive leap in building population scale technology through its Digital Public Infrastructure like ONDC and we are thrilled to integrate with them to bring metro ticketing to the Uber app, bringing us one step closer to our vision of being a one-stop shop for mobility needs,' said Praveen Neppalli Naga, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Uber.
Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO at ONDC, told the news agency, 'Uber's joining of the ONDC Network marks a significant step in expanding access to trusted, interoperable digital infrastructure in India. As a global platform, Uber's initial enablement of metro ticketing and logistics unlocks new possibilities - from seamless multimodal journeys to unifying a fragmented logistics ecosystem.'
Uber said it will soon launch B2B Logistics via the ONDC network, a solution that will allow businesses to request on-demand logistics from Uber's delivery network, without needing their own fleet.
Uber said the service will initially facilitate food deliveries, with its underlying technology designed to scale to sectors such as e-commerce, grocery, pharmacy, and healthcare logistics.
"By integrating with ONDC, Uber will be accessible to a wide ecosystem of sellers and platforms, empowering businesses of all sizes to reach more customers efficiently through a plug-and-play logistics layer," Uber said. (ANI)

New Delhi: Good news for Delhiites as DTC is likely to once again start its interstate bus services soon. According to the reports, 100 electronic buses will run on 17 routes. These buses will not only connect some of the major cities of the neighbouring states but will also enhance Delhi's connectivity with major religious sites. Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh took this key decision during the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) board meeting held on Friday. The meeting was attended by the Transport Commissioner, the DTC Chairman, and other board member officials. 100 type-3 Electronic Buses to Run During the meeting, the board informed the Transport Minister that 100 new Type-3 electric interstate buses will be operated under DTC. These buses will run on 17 routes of the neighbouring states, which will include several religious sites. The Transport Minister said that this initiative is in line with the Delhi government's 'Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra' and the 'Green Delhi, Clean Delhi' vision. It is important to note that these DTC buses will be run by the current drivers. This will allow full utilization of the existing workforce. These interstate electric buses will also contribute to keeping the environment clean in neighboring states. During the meeting, the board members also presented a plan to the minister to increase DTC's non-fare revenue through advertisements in order to boost its overall income. Officials claimed that this initiative could potentially generate around ₹5 crore annually for DTC through advertisements. Under this plan, advertisements will be placed not only inside and outside the buses but also at bus depots, bus terminals, and bus stops.

Delhi Metro achieves tunnelling breakthrough on Golden Line corridor
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has achieved a major construction milestone with a successful tunnelling breakthrough at Tughlakabad Railway Colony station on the upcoming Golden Line, part of Phase 4 of the metro to a DMRC statement, the tunnel connects Maa Anandmayee Marg to Tughlakabad Railway Colony on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor. The breakthrough was achieved by a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) after completing a 792-metre stretch in the presence of Delhi Health and Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, DMRC Managing Director Dr Vikas Kumar and other senior officials, it said. advertisementThe corporation said TBMs are designed to bore through various soil and rock layers, while minimising disruption to the surface. They are especially effective in urban settings and have been used extensively in previous metro phases. DMRC said the tunnel, located at an average depth of 18 metres, is one of two parallel tunnels being built for up and down movement on the corridor. The breakthrough on the second tunnel is expected by July 2025.A total of 566 tunnel rings, each with an inner diameter of 5.8 metres, were installed using the Earth Pressure Balancing Method (EPBM), the statement said.
