Madani Adopted Village programme: 16 infra projects in Kaiduan completed

PAPAR: More than 1,000 villagers in Mukim Kaiduan are benefitting from 16 infrastructure projects under the Madani Adopted Village (KAM) programme which have been completed. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the projects, launched in May last year with an allocation of RM2.5 million, have now been officially handed over to residents of Kampung Kaiduan, Kampung Bisuang and Kampung Bolotikon, each home to about 350 people, mainly from the B40 income group. 'Many villagers rely on agriculture, with some, especially women, leaving as early as 1am to sell produce at markets like Tamu Kinarut, despite poor roads and flood-prone low-level crossings (LLCs). 'One key project was the construction of a new LLC bridge in Kampung Ulu Kaiduan, ensuring safer access even during floods,' he told reporters after officiating the handover at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kaiduan, Saturday. The KAM initiative aims to bridge urban-rural development gaps by improving access to basic infrastructure such as water, electricity, roads, street lighting, internet connectivity and community facilities. This year, 43 villages have been selected under the programme with RM107 million in total funding. Each participating ministry or agency receives up to RM2.5 million, in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's vision. Among completed projects in Kaiduan are culvert upgrades, new bridges, road works in Kampung Kaiduan and Kampung Bisuang, a suspension bridge to SK Kaiduan, as well as the construction of a surau and multipurpose hall at the school. In Kampung Bolotikon, a sepak takraw court was built, alongside upgrades to the church and community hall. Hill walkways, gravel paths and solar-powered street lights were also installed across all three villages. Armizan said Kaiduan was selected based on criteria, including limited access to basic amenities, with coverage below 50 per cent. 'These projects are expected to greatly enhance quality of life, improve mobility and support religious and socio-economic activities,' he said. For 2024, the Government has allocated RM200 million to expand KAM. Armizan said his Ministry has selected a village in Kedah, with details to be announced soon. 'Completion of these projects doesn't mean our work ends. We'll continue supporting Kaiduan, including socio-economic development beyond physical upgrades,' he added. Civil servants must avoid public rallies, says AG Mohd Dusuki
MACHANG: Civil servants must uphold discipline and avoid participating in public rallies to set a proper example, said Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar. He emphasised that involvement in such gatherings violates the civil service code of conduct, and department heads may take action against offenders. 'Such assemblies actually violate the code of conduct and discipline for civil servants. Perak KPDN aids eCOSS registration at Rahmah MADANI sales
IPOH: The Perak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is stepping up efforts to help the public register for the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (eCOSS) during Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM) events statewide. State KPDN director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail confirmed that officers will be present at every PJRM location to guide residents, particularly senior citizens and persons with disabilities, through the registration process. 'We understand that some individuals may face difficulties registering for this system, but we guarantee that our personnel at each PJRM site will assist them until the registration is successfully completed,' he said. Kamalludin explained that the eCOSS system, currently in its pilot phase, is designed to track subsidised cooking oil purchases by eligible recipients while preventing distribution leakages. On July 23, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali announced plans to expand eCOSS into a mobile app to improve the distribution of 60,000 tonnes of subsidised cooking oil monthly, particularly for the B40 group. The system monitors the entire supply chain, from distribution to end-user purchases, enhancing efficiency and accountability. Kamalludin noted that eCOSS helps detect shortages early and prevents hoarding or misuse. 'The data collected not only helps the government manage supply more effectively, but also ensures transparency and prevents any form of misappropriation in the distribution network,' he said. To date, Perak has recorded RM53,488,905.38 in sales from 983 PJRM events across 24 parliamentary and 59 state constituencies, benefiting 1,227,731 individuals. - Bernama

More Rahmah sales planned
PUTRAJAYA: Higher discounts for items sold at Rahmah sales (PJRM) are among the improvements being planned for the popular government-sponsored event, says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (pic). The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister said such sales will be held more frequently and expanded to more locations, while stocks of items will be increased. Armizan also said more retailers will be brought in as strategic partners, following the Prime Minister's announcement on Wednesday that the initiative will get RM300mil in additional funds. 'We are targeting 20,000 PJRM nationwide this year, covering all 222 parliamentary constituencies, 600 state constituencies and 40 zones in the Federal Territories. 'As of July 22, a total of 12,441 PJRM have been implemented nationwide,' he told reporters after inspecting a Rahmah sales event at the ministry yesterday, Bernama reported. Elaborating on the ministry's plans, Armizan said it will raise the minimum number of stock-keeping units per location to 30 from 20, based on local demand and seasonal needs, such as festive periods. He said more strategic retail partners will be engaged through Mobile, On-Premises and Off-Premises formats, and the sales schedules will be updated on the ministry's website. The ministry is also looking into increasing the quantum of discounts on items sold at these events to more than the current 10 to 30%. Armizan said the ministry will submit a report on this year's PJRM to the Finance Ministry in December to assess the programme's performance and impact on the public. He also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the people-centric initiatives, which were announced on Wednesday. Anwar announced that the PJRM allocation would be doubled to RM600mil this year to increase its frequency, expand coverage across all 600 state constituencies and offer a wider range of goods.
