Will Power: 'I sent it' to snatch pole position for IndyCar WWTR oval night race
Will Power laid down a 49.9088s qualifying effort with a 180.329mph two-lap average to claim pole for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. The result was Power's fifth pole on the 1.25-mile oval and his 71st overall, extending his record for indy car racing poles. It was the two-time IndyCar champion's first time topping the charts in qualifying since Aug. 2024 at Portland International Raceway.
Power's strategy was simple.

'I sent it a lot,' Power said of his run. 'I knew you would have to. You'd have to try to be flat in (turns) 3 and 4. Which I wasn't quite flat, but very, very close.
'Cool, man. Cool. It's been a while since I've had a pole, so I'm really excited for the Verizon 12 car. Chevy did a great job, good power. Hopefully we can execute in the race. It'd be awesome to get a win here.'
It'll be an all-Team Penske front row, continuing a day of strength for the organization after Josef Newgarden led opening practice. Scott McLaughlin fell just .1515s shy of Power in an earlier run. Newgarden couldn't match his teammates in qualifying, but ended up a strong fifth at session's end.
As qualifying unfolded
The company is looking for its first win of 2025, hoping to break a season-long sweep for Honda drivers Alex Palou and Kyle Kirkwood. Chevrolet will have many frontrunners looking to break through at Gateway. The Bowtie brand claimed the top-five qualifiers on Saturday, with Pato O'Ward, David Malukas and Newgarden capping off the top-five.

Meyer Shank Racing's Marcus Armstrong was quickest among Honda drivers in sixth, followed by teammate Felix Rosenqvist.Colton Herta, Alex Palou and Kirkwood wrapping up the top-10. Honda controls sixth through 11th, with Scott Dixon completing the group.
Championship hopeful ChristianChristian Lundgaard will have ground to make up if he hopes to salvage the weekend. Lundgaard was a disappointing 14th at day's end, clear of teammate Nolan Siegel (20th) but well behind O'Ward and unable to capitalize on a pedestrian run for championship frontrunner Palou.
Rookie Robert Shwartzman was unable to repeat the magic of his shock Indianapolis 500 pole run. The Prema Racing driver suffered a slight bobble during his run and wound up 24th at session's end.
With only one race on the weekend, the field was set based on two-lap averages. Drivers qualified in reverse order of the series' current point standings. The session started later than initially planned, pushed back two hours by lingering storms that dropped light moisture through the morning and early afternoon. Early sunshine gave way to overcast skies as the session went on, dropping the track temp and aiding drivers that qualified later.

Qualifying was preceded by practice for the USAC Silver Crown Series, where a blown motor may also have impacted time trials for some of the session's early qualifiers.

'Cars blowing up just before we go and qualify is really a shame for us,' Conor Daly told Frontstretch after an early run. 'I like to turn in really late into (turns) 3 and 4. That's exactly where the oil dry is, and a bunch of sand. Our safety team does a great job doing that, but it's still slick.'
It'll be a late evening for the IndyCar field. The 27 competitors will return to the racing surface for final practice at 8:15 p.m. ET. Sunday's race is slated to go live on FOX at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Enterprise is one of the largest car rental companies in the world, with more than 9,500 branch offices in nearly 100 countries, according to its website . You can rent anything from a practical SUV to a luxury vehicle for just a weekend or up to a long-term rental. Despite its general reputation for good service, some customers have reported issues like overbooking, lack of vehicle availability, unnecessary upselling, and bad communication. And Staś is here to add another glaring issue to the list. 'What rental place gives you a car with a registration expired?' Staś said. In the background, you could see that there was a cop car pulled up behind him. 'Hertz would NEVER,' he added in the caption. Though commenters assured him that Hertz would do him just as dirty or worse. Can You Auto-Renew Vehicle Registration? Some commenters mentioned that it may be the case that the registration had automatically renewed, but that the car just didn't have the updated sticker on it. While the manager at Enterprise assured her that the issue would be taken care of, a couple of months later, she got mail letting her know her license would be suspended if the ticket went unpaid. Corporate then said they'd take care of it, yet a few months later, the woman was pulled over and informed that her license was suspended over the ticket. 'I apparently got a court date that I didn't get in the mail, so I had missed that and got a failure to appear and got a warrant,' she told the television station. Between a lawyer, fees, and court costs, the Enterprise issue ended up costing Bell $3,000 and more than a year of headaches. Commenters React to the Enterprise Headache Several people in the comment section shared their own similar horror stories. 'Enterprise gave me a car they reported stolen the previous day and I was pulled over at gun point. Still suing,' a person shared. 'Enterprise is also known to scam people by claiming damages when there is none,' another alleged. There have been disputed claims of this nature in the past. 'Yep they did the same thing to me! Half way to our vacation, and stopped for gas and noticed it. Called the local office and they said they would take care of the ticket if we got one!' a commenter wrote. How can you beat the heat this summer? According to one driver, if you have a sunroof in your car, all you need is a roll of aluminum foil or a sunshade. TikTok user @ilovemegapixels shared a quick car hack that's catching attention online. 'A little tip for ya,' he said in a video, before sliding open his sunroof to reveal what looked like a foil sunshade tucked inside. The goal? Blocking out the sun and keeping your car from turning into an oven. 'Makes a HUGE difference,' he said in the text overlay of his clip, adding in the comments he's used the trick on multiple cars with great results. As of Saturday, the clip had racked up more than 253,900 views. Is This Legit? It appears to be—and it's not just sunroofs where foil can help block the sun. According to at least one woman on Facebook, the hack works for home windows too. Another blogger DIY-ed an insulated panel for his car's glass roof, similar to @ilovemegapixels. Living in Arizona, where summer temps can hit 115 degrees Fahrenheit, he said his homemade insulator made a dramatic difference. 'I basically put foil home insulation I had lying around from a project and a small ironing mat,' he wrote. 'You can't see the foil backing from the outside of the car. I just take it down when summer's over and use the factory fabric cover.' According to him, the results were clear: 'When I did a before and after with my infrared thermometer, it dropped the temp on the inside roof like 30 degrees. Just much more pleasant to drive in the summer. I'm personally not a fan of glass roofs.' How Does This Sunroof Foil Hack Work? Aluminum foil does reflect a significant amount of sunlight, which can help lower interior temperatures. Placing it over a sunroof can reduce heat buildup inside a car and slow down how much heat enters overall. That said, it's not as effective as a proper sunshade and may carry some risks—like theft or vandalism—especially if the windows are left slightly cracked. Another option, according to Garage Living , is a windshield sunshade. They're less discreet, often folding up in awkward accordion-style panels and featuring that unmistakable reflective foil finish. But they work. Some high-end shades even use heat-absorbing materials designed to block thermal and ultraviolet rays more efficiently. If you've got the budget— and your state allows it —tinted windows are also worth considering. A quality tint can block a good chunk of UV rays and help keep the cabin cooler. Detry was right near the top of the leaderboard for much of yesterday's second round, until a truly horrible finish saw him make three double bogeys on the last five holes. But he three-putted for bogey and dropped to 3 over, six shots off Sam Burns' lead. The first hole is getting a lot of players today. It looks tame enough, but we all know it's not. Imagn Images Just when it looked like Scottie Scheffler had a little momentum, he missed a four-foot par putt on the eighth hole. That one certainly could hurt when we look back on it. Imagn Images Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy finish up their rounds without much going on during moving day. Schauffele shot a 1-over 71 and is at 7 over for the tournament. McIlroy shoots a 4-over 74 and is at 10 over. Brooks Koepka's opening tee shot leaks left and looks as though it's headed for the really juicy stuff, only to come down in the first cut. Fortunate. Less fortunate for Koepka is the fact the pin is placed in the middle of the green today, which will make his approach shot more tricky than it would have been Thursday or Friday. Brooks Koepka's putter might have cooled off a bit yesterday, but he will start his round today just five shots off the pace. In Round 1, despite missing seven greens in regulation, Koepka was able to successfully get up and down five times. Friday, he was just 2-for-9 scrambling, leading to a round with eight bogeys. Koepka trailed by multiple strokes entering the third round in three of his five major championship victories. Brooks Koepka is making his way to the first tee. He's playing alongside Si Woo Kim. Getty Images Englishman Matt Wallace is currently -3 for the day, without a single bogey on his scorecard. That means he's +3 for the tournament with five holes left to play today. Wallace has one PGA Tour victory on his record, at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic in 2023. His best finish at a major came four years before that, when he enjoyed a share of third at the PGA Championship. But if he can maybe make another birdie or two before heading to the clubhouse he could well find himself in the mix tomorrow.
