A lot of work has been put into the different targets that still haven't made their way to Anfield yet and once encouragement is offered to negotiate terms, then things could be wrapped up quickly.

The general feeling is that at least one more player will join the Reds, with talks expected to speed up over the next few days, as both clubs recognise that time is running out to get things all finalised.
Guehi to Liverpool is expected to happen
In a video posted to BBC Sport's transfer blog, their senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel gave a positive update on Marc Guehi's future, giving his opinion on whether a move could still take place.
He said: "Liverpool and Crystal Palace have held discussions about a possible £35m deal for Guehi to go to Anfield before the transfer deadline. There is still not agreement, but those talks should accelerate in the next few days, but the success of that deal hinges on whether the chairman Steve Parish sees Liverpool's deal and their valuation of the player as enough to let their captain go.
"It may be that Parish decides that the deal isn't enough, and the fee isn't enough, and it may be more valuable for him to stay until the end of the season and the 12 months until his contract runs out than it would actually to recoup the money. There's a lot to get done in that deal, but there are legs in it, and if I were a betting man, then I'd put money on that deal to get done before the transfer window closes."
As such, there is certainly room for optimism. Despite the fact that the player is still regularly playing for the Eagles, he's still interested in going elsewhere and the clubs are still engaging in talks.
Giovanni Leoni's arrival on Merseyside has been looked at as separate to the Guehi interest, primarily because the players are at different stages in their careers and their development.ace
The Italian is a significant scalp to have secured and he will play a role in Arne Slot's setup throughout the season, but Guehi is a transfer that Liverpool be still be desperate to finalise.
At 25, he's yet to enter the prime of his career and the leadership skills he can offer the team will be huge for the Reds, giving Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate a bit of a breather in defence.
Tactically, Liverpool will feel they can improve their defence straight away, but the addition of Guehi just gives the club more options. He's likely to play a substantial role in the team when he joins.
So even though we're just two weeks away from deadline day, it appears as though everything is being taken care of and in a few days, we'll hopefully get the update that an agreement is in place.

Kia initiates European EV production with the New EV4 model

Kia has commenced the production of its first entirely electric vehicle (EV) designed for the European market, the EV4 hatchback, at the brand's manufacturing hub in Slovakia. Located in Zilina, the facility, known as Kia AutoLand Slovakia, has undergone substantial upgrades to its production lines to accommodate the manufacturing of the vehicle. Switch Auto Insurance and Save Today! Affordable Auto Insurance, Customized for You The Insurance Savings You Expect Great Rates and Award-Winning Service Kia says it has invested €108m to modernise the Zilina plant with new technologies, including an EV battery conveyor system. The EV4 is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) of Hyundai Motor. Customers can choose between two battery sizes: a standard 58.3kWh and a larger 81.4kWh option. In February 2025, the company presented the exterior design of the new EV4 model range, unveiling saloon and hatchback variants. EV4 is equipped with energy features, including vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities. Additionally, it features a lightweight aluminium bonnet and comes in a range of eight exterior colours, with a matte finish. The Zilina plant, which opened its doors in 2004, is a pivotal part of Kia's European strategy. Spanning 2km2, the facility employs approximately 3,700 individuals and is ideally situated to serve major European markets. Alongside the EV4, the plant manufactures other models like the Kia Sportage and Kia XCeed, including their hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The Zilina facility is said to have an annual production capacity of 350,000 vehicles and 540,000 engines. Since its inception, the plant has produced over five million units, contributing to roughly 11% of Kia's worldwide vehicle production, the company noted in a press release. The South Korean automaker has reported a 6.5% increase in revenues to a record Won29.35tn in Q2 of 2025, attributed to robust global demand for its hybrid models, increased average selling prices, and favourable currency exchange rates. Dominant Marquez eager to try something new as MotoGP returns to Hungary

MotoGP returns to Hungary for the first time in 33 years, presenting riders with the challenge of mastering an unfamiliar track -- although Ducati gained an edge on their rivals with an unofficial test. At the start of the month, Ducati took six riders for a test session at the Balaton Park Circuit. They rode Ducati Panigale commercial superbikes, to sidestep rules limiting testing on MotoGP race bikes. "This will be a big help," runaway championship leader Marc Marquez, who rides a factory Ducati said on Thursday. His partner on Ducati's flagship team, Francesco Bagnaia added a condition. "It will be an advantage," said the Italian. "Maybe just for the first day." At 4.08 kilometres (2.54 miles) the Balaton Park Circuit is the second shortest of the 22 tracks in this year's championship. Marquez called it a "stop start" track. "The circuit is not the most difficult one," he said. "It's not a very difficult track to learn because it's small, but I like it." "Everyone will be super close." Bagnaia agreed. "The fight will be intense. We have many hotspots where we can overtake." Marquez said he was happy with the change of pace the circuit brings. "It's a different layout from what we're used to in the World Championship," the Spaniard said. But in 22 races we need to have different layouts." The two Ducati stars have been riding in different directions this season. After rebounding to third overall last season following four injury-hit seasons, Marquez has won the last six Sunday races and nine of 13 this season as he accelerates toward a seventh world title. He said this was a "different version" of Marquez. "2019, for example, was different ... in the way I was fast immediately or the way I pushed the race was more aggressive," the 32-year-old said, adding that this season: "I'm smoother and I'm trying to use more experience." "I'm with the best bike with the best team and it's in my hands to win races and achieve my goal, which is to win world championships." Bagnaia, the world champion in 2023 and 2024, has less confidence in the bikes. Immediately after finishing eighth last week in Austria, he told media he was "running out of patience" with his team. - 'Very strange' - He said Friday that he had patched things up in the pit lane. "When you finish a disaster race like it was in Austria and nervous and angry you arrive to speak to with all the journalists about what is wrong with you, sometimes you make wrong declaration," he said. "I was always super-competitive," he said. "This season finishing eighth, seeing other bikes overtaking me in a very easy way is very strange." Sitting third in the championship, 197 points behind March Marquez and 55 behind the other Marquez brother Alex, who rides for Ducati satellite Gresini, Bagnaia knows he has a problem. "We need to change something. I don't know what. It's clear that I'm always slower than last year. We meed to understand what to do." Lower down the grid, Honda has been forced into an awkward rider about turn. On Wednesday, it announced that the 36-year-old Aleix Espargaro would replace struggling Thai Somkiat Chantra. But when Espargaro turned up at the track on Thursday the team found he had injured his spine in a cycling accident "a few days earlier", so sent him for hospital checks and reinstated Chantra. nb/bde/pb/dmc

Eberechi Eze left out of Crystal Palace team amid reports of imminent Arsenal move

LONDON (AP) — Eberechi Eze was left out of Crystal Palace's team for its Conference League playoff match on Thursday amid reports the England forward is about to join Arsenal. Palace named a close-to-full-strength team against Fredrikstad and Eze was the standout omission, not even included among the substitutes. Widespread reports in the British media said Eze has agreed to a transfer to Arsenal, which has moved late in the summer window for a player who was reportedly close to joining north London rival Tottenham. The 27-year-old Eze will cost an initial 60 million pounds ($80 million), according to the reports, including from the BBC. It would take Arsenal's spending in this summer transfer window to around 250 million pounds ($335 million). Neither Palace nor Arsenal have commented publicly on any potential deal. Eze was a youth-team player with Arsenal before being released as a teenager. He started his professional career at second-tier Queens Park Rangers before moving to Palace in 2020, where he has become one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in the league and a regular in the England squad. He played at last year's European Championship. Last season, Eze scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final as Palace beat Manchester City 1-0 to qualify for European competition for the first time. ___ AP soccer:
