Nathan Fillion brings chaos and charm as Guy Gardner in Superman and Lanterns
He'll debut the character in James Gunn's Superman, set for release in July 2025, and reprise the role in HBO Max's upcoming series Lanterns.
Known for his long-running voice work as Hal Jordan in animated DC films, Fillion is now bringing a very different kind of Lantern to life one that's louder, ruder, and far more unpredictable.
In recent interviews, Fillion described Guy Gardner as 'the last person you'd want to save you.' He's proud, impulsive, and high-strung, with a tough exterior that often masks insecurity and vulnerability.
Fillion insisted on keeping the character's iconic bowl haircut, fully embracing Gardner's comic-accurate look.
He also revealed that Lanterns features more profanity from him than any role he's played before, signaling a raw, grounded tone for the show.
The Lanterns series will focus on a mystery rooted on Earth and follow John Stewart and Hal Jordan as leads, with Guy Gardner serving as a more chaotic presence in their orbit. Fillion says Gardner clashes with others easily, especially when things aren't going his way.
His version of the character also appears in Peacemaker Season 2, where his personality is expected to collide dramatically with John Cena's no-nonsense antihero.
Fans have already reacted with excitement, praising the casting and Fillion's comedic timing. Gardner is a complicated character equal parts obnoxious and heroic and Fillion seems eager to lean into every extreme.
As DC Studios builds its new connected universe, Gardner's arrival promises to bring an irreverent and combustible energy to the Lantern mythos, balancing humor with conflict in a way that only Fillion can deliver.

Harry Potter TV series confirmed for 10-year HBO Max run with eight-episode first season
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav confirmed the upcoming Harry Potter TV series will run for a decade on HBO Max, exceeding the initially expected seven-season format based on J.K. Rowling's books. Speaking during the company's latest earnings call, Zaslav highlighted the project's long-term vision as production for Season 1 continues in and around London. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027, Collider reported. Early promotional material has already revealed Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Daniel Rigby and Bel Powley as Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. The core trio will feature Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Legendary actors join the Hogwarts staff, including John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Janet McTeer as McGonagall, with other notable roles played by Johnny Flynn, Louise Brealey, Anton Lesser, Luke Thallon, Paul Whitehouse, and Rory Wilmot. Beyond the cast, the production team includes acclaimed Brazilian cinematographer Adriano Goldman, known for The Crown, Andor, and Jane Eyre, who will serve as lead director of photography for Season 1. Goldman confirmed the season will include eight episodes—contrary to earlier rumors of six—with him handling the first two and final two episodes. He described the season as 'monumental,' noting 18 weeks of pre-production were spent building lasting sets for Hogwarts, Privet Drive, and other iconic locations. Zaslav's decade-long commitment has fueled speculation about whether future seasons might split books into multiple parts or include original material. Goldman noted there is 'a prospect of seven seasons,' though his involvement in all remains uncertain. Filming for Season 1 is expected to last 10 months and may also cover portions of Season 2. With its 2027 premiere planned, HBO Max is positioning Harry Potter as a long-term flagship franchise.

John Leguizamo slams Dean Cain over plan to join ICE after Superman reboot controversy
Actor John Leguizamo publicly criticized fellow actor Dean Cain after Cain revealed he plans to be sworn in as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. 'What kind of loser volunteers to be an ICE officer? What a moron,' Leguizamo said in a video posted to Instagram on Friday, adding, 'Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.' His remarks came in response to Cain's recent public statements about joining the agency. Cain, best known for portraying Superman in the 1990s television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has been in the spotlight again following the release of Warner Bros. and DC Studios' Superman reboot in July. Before the film's debut, he criticized director James Gunn for referring to Superman as an 'immigrant' and claimed Hollywood had made the character 'woke.' Speaking on Fox News this week, Cain said he intends to be 'sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP.' He described the move as an act of patriotism, stating, 'The U.S. was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not,' and called joining ICE 'the right thing' to do. Leguizamo, a long-time advocate for Latino representation in entertainment, has previously voiced concerns about underrepresentation. In a 2020 interview with People, he noted that Latinos make up nearly 20% of the U.S. population but account for less than 1% of Hollywood and streaming media stories. Cain's decision comes as ICE undergoes significant changes. In July, Congress approved a budget increase for the agency from $8 billion to roughly $28 billion, making it the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency. This week, ICE also announced the removal of its age limit for applicants, which had previously restricted eligibility to individuals between 21 and 40 years old.

Sabrina Carpenter reveals final ‘Man's Best Friend' vinyl cover with exclusive bonus track
Sabrina Carpenter has revealed the fourth and final alternate cover for her upcoming album Man's Best Friend, just three weeks ahead of its official release. The pop star shared the new artwork on Instagram on Friday (Aug. 8), featuring herself seated confidently at a dinner table in a sparkling blue gown, surrounded by five men in tuxedos. Alongside the visual, Carpenter announced a special vinyl-exclusive bonus track titled 'Such A Funny Way,' available only with this version of the album. 'The final alternate cover for Man's Best Friend features such a special bonus track… available only on vinyl,' she wrote, encouraging fans to preorder the limited-edition signed vinyl. The singer also reminded fans of the countdown to the album's arrival, saying, '3 weeks left!!! Can't wait for it to be yours x.' Man's Best Friend, Carpenter's seventh studio album, has generated significant attention since its announcement in June. Much of the discourse has centered around the album's provocative original cover — a photo of Carpenter on all fours with a man pulling her hair — which sparked debate online and even became a topic of discussion on The View. In response, Carpenter has released several alternative covers, including a black-and-white image of her resting on a man's shoulder and another where she is surrounded by flower bouquets. Earlier this week, Carpenter unveiled the official tracklist for Man's Best Friend, which includes 12 songs. Among them is the chart-topping lead single 'Manchild,' which she performed during her recent headlining set at Lollapalooza in Chicago, where she also shared the stage with Earth, Wind & Fire. All four versions of the album are now available for purchase on Carpenter's official website.
