Aussie coach Cheika seethes on his English farewell
The combative Australian, who coached the Wallabies to the World Cup final at the same venue a decade ago, was frustrated to bow out with a defeat, and vented his irritation about the officiating of the showpiece fixture on Saturday.
Cheika declared the decision to send his Tigers prop Dan Cole to the sin bin as "embarrassing for the game" after a late Emeka Ilione try for Leicester proved not quite enough to drag them to a late victory.

Yet Ilione's score would have given Cheika's team the lead if not for the penalty that Finn Russell put over after Cole had been penalised over a collision with the Scottish star flyhalf.
England prop Cole, in his last game before retirement, was sent to the sin bin, leaving Cheika to fume over both that decision and the earlier card for a high tackle from Leicester captain Julian Montoya.
"I thought we got nothing back from the referee at all and we kept on coming back and turning up," lamented Cheika.
"We scored three tries to two, that tells you something. I'm super proud of the players.
"Two men in the bin - the second one for nothing, really. It is embarrassing for the game that someone goes off for that. I'm allowed to be angry, but I'm over it and happy to accept the result now and get on with the next thing."
It represented an anti-climactic farewell for not just Cheika and Cole, but also Ben Youngs, the highest capped Englishman in international history.
Cheika reckoned he had to hold his tongue in his post-match press conference too as he reflected on the performance of referee Karl Dickson.
"For me personally, if the game is sending players to the sin bin for that, or even penalising…what do I say mate?
"If I say something, I'll get myself in strife and take away from the other team. I just have to beat myself up inside and try and keep as much as I can inside.
"I've got my feelings on the referee's performance but I'll take that up with [head of refereeing] Paul Hull as one last final…banter, let's say."
Cheika, at 58, decided in January not to extend his stay at the club which he's helped rejuvenate in his one season in charge.
Next season, Geoff Parling, the former Leicester and England lock who's been a key assistant to Joe Schmidt with the Wallabies, will take the reins.

For winners Bath, it was the end of a 29-year wait for a Premiership title as they secured a famous treble following their Premiership Cup and European Challenge Cup wins.
Tries by Thomas du Toit and Max Ojomoh had given Bath a healthy lead in the second half, only for Leicester, seeking a record-extending 12th title, to hit back with tries by former Tongan NRL star Solomone Kata and Ilione to set up a nail-biting finale.

It's difficult to put into words. It's kind of every night is the crowd's first night, so every night has kinda got the same energy to it. But it's been truly amazing. I'm not usually short for words, but I can't really answer." Reflecting on the first night in Cardiff, the band's initial gig in nearly two decades, he added: "We're not really a band who kind of have huddles before we go on or anything like that.", reports the Mirror. "I can't speak for anywhere else, but for me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. After about five minutes I was like can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again. "I don't mind telling you my legs went to jelly about halfway through the second song and I could have done with going back. It has been an amazing thing." Noel then shared some warm words about his brother Liam. The duo have made a habit of walking out hand-in-hand for every show in Dublin, Edinburgh, London, their hometown of Wembley, and the opening weekend in Cardiff. Speaking about their on-stage embraces, he said: "We are not those kinda guys. It is great just to be back with Bonehead and Liam and just be doing it again. I guess when it is all said and done we will reflect on it. It's good being back in the band with Liam, I forgot how funny he was!". Commenting on Liam's universally praised vocals, he said: "Liam is smashing it, I am proud of him. Having fronted a band for 16 years I know how hard that is. I couldn't do the stadium thing like he does, I have gotta say man I look at him and think 'good for you mate'." When asked about Knebworth or the end of the tour, Noel responded with a chuckle: "Lets talk about football." He discussed Manchester City's recent victory and expressed his excitement for Oasis' upcoming performance at the River Plate stadium in Argentina this November. He added: "It's the penultimate show, and we've played there a few times before. Without a doubt, Argentina is one of our top five favourite places to perform worldwide. "We are going to Toronto on Friday and then we're in the States for the best part of a month and then Mexico and then back for two more Wembleys. "When it all started there were a few people who I thought would come looking for tickets but after the first gig my phone exploded. Once they had seen it online there was a mad scramble for it." He confessed it was extraordinary to witness countless supporters outside the venues singing along to the performances and remarked: "Something else is happening that we haven't put our fingers on yet." Oasis are touring for the first time in 16 years and have now finished their UK and Ireland dates apart from two additional Wembley performances when they return from America. Tickets became available last year and triggered extraordinary demand. The concerts, which kicked off in Cardiff on July 4, have garnered glowing reviews across the board and generated emotional moments both amongst audiences and on stage.

Fresh blow for Kangaroos as Broncos teammate could join Payne Haas in Test switch
Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters faces the prospect of losing another player for the Ashes after Payne's Haas' defection to Samoa, with fellow Broncos star Kotoni Staggs weighing up a potential Test switch. Staggs played three Tests for Australia in 2023, having previously represented Tonga in 2019 and 2022. But Staggs made it clear last week that he could have a big decision to make about his Test future, despite his full focus being on the rest of Brisbane's NRL season. 'I can either play for Tonga or Australia,' Staggs said. 'I will see how I go for the rest of the season but my main focus is here and trying to win a grand final. Whatever comes after that. I will make a decision.' The Kangaroos' three-Test series begins in October and will see them lock horns with England at three iconic venues - London's Wembley Stadium, Liverpool's Everton Stadium and Headingley in Leeds. Maroons Origin great Chris Close is a huge admirer of Staggs and believes the Broncos centre would be an ideal addition to Walters' Kangaroos squad. 'He is not afraid of anything and he has shown that time and again by the way he throws himself into the contest," Close told News Corp. 'It is a rough and tumble game in England, they have big blokes rumbling up the middle and also out wide but Staggs is not going to be intimidated by any of that. I think he would come into his own at that level. He has a bit of polish about him. He has a good body swerve, he can use his palm and hit the line hard." Walters will be desperate not to lose any more Kangaroos regulars to rival nations, following Haas' defection to Samoa. However, there are reports Maroons stars Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow could also follow suit and turn their backs on Australia ahead of the Ashes. Tabuai-Fidow starred in the centres for the Kangaroos in last year's Pacific Championship triumph and if he were to defect to Samoa as well, it would further improve Staggs' chances of earning a Test call-up for Australia.
