Knebworth 2024 hint as Oasis star Noel Gallagher heaps praise on brother Liam

Yahoo14 hours ago
Noel Gallagher has given his inaugural interview since the commencement of the Oasis reunion tour, lauding his brother Liam for "smashing it" while confessing that his own legs "turned to jelly" on the opening night.
He remained tight-lipped when questioned about the likelihood of the band performing at Knebworth next year, a milestone concert that many fans are eagerly anticipating and now hope might be possible.
The 58 year old guitarist and Oasis songwriter chatted with his mates Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent on TalkSport about his favourite football team, Manchester City, before the conversation shifted to the monumental tour. This follows after Peggy Gallagher was spotted with a big star at an Oasis gig as she finally gets to see her sons' reunion tour.

Regarding the reunion with Liam, Noel expressed: "I've been completely blown away. It's difficult to put into words. It's kind of every night is the crowd's first night, so every night has kinda got the same energy to it. But it's been truly amazing. I'm not usually short for words, but I can't really answer."
Reflecting on the first night in Cardiff, the band's initial gig in nearly two decades, he added: "We're not really a band who kind of have huddles before we go on or anything like that.", reports the Mirror.
"I can't speak for anywhere else, but for me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. After about five minutes I was like can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again.
"I don't mind telling you my legs went to jelly about halfway through the second song and I could have done with going back. It has been an amazing thing."
Noel then shared some warm words about his brother Liam. The duo have made a habit of walking out hand-in-hand for every show in Dublin, Edinburgh, London, their hometown of Wembley, and the opening weekend in Cardiff.
Speaking about their on-stage embraces, he said: "We are not those kinda guys. It is great just to be back with Bonehead and Liam and just be doing it again. I guess when it is all said and done we will reflect on it. It's good being back in the band with Liam, I forgot how funny he was!".
Commenting on Liam's universally praised vocals, he said: "Liam is smashing it, I am proud of him. Having fronted a band for 16 years I know how hard that is. I couldn't do the stadium thing like he does, I have gotta say man I look at him and think 'good for you mate'."
When asked about Knebworth or the end of the tour, Noel responded with a chuckle: "Lets talk about football."
He discussed Manchester City's recent victory and expressed his excitement for Oasis' upcoming performance at the River Plate stadium in Argentina this November.
He added: "It's the penultimate show, and we've played there a few times before. Without a doubt, Argentina is one of our top five favourite places to perform worldwide.
"We are going to Toronto on Friday and then we're in the States for the best part of a month and then Mexico and then back for two more Wembleys.
"When it all started there were a few people who I thought would come looking for tickets but after the first gig my phone exploded. Once they had seen it online there was a mad scramble for it."
He confessed it was extraordinary to witness countless supporters outside the venues singing along to the performances and remarked: "Something else is happening that we haven't put our fingers on yet."
Oasis are touring for the first time in 16 years and have now finished their UK and Ireland dates apart from two additional Wembley performances when they return from America.
Tickets became available last year and triggered extraordinary demand.
The concerts, which kicked off in Cardiff on July 4, have garnered glowing reviews across the board and generated emotional moments both amongst audiences and on stage.

Shearer accuses Isak of pouring 'flames on fire' of Newcastle row

Newcastle great Alan Shearer has accused wantaway striker Alexander Isak of pouring "flames on the fire" of his row with the Magpies by accusing the club of breaking promises. The Sweden international, who was the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League last season, has not featured for Newcastle in pre-season or their opening game of the campaign, a goalless draw away at Aston Villa last Saturday. Liverpool have reportedly had a £110 million bid ($149 million) rejected for the 25-year-old, with Newcastle holding out for a British transfer record fee of up to £150 million. Isak released a statement on Tuesday after deciding not to appear at the Professional Footballers' Association awards event despite being selected in the Premier League 2024/25 team of the year. "The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time," said Isak, with the 25-year-old adding: "When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue." But former Newcastle captain and manager Shearer, speaking to Betfair, labelled the current situation an "absolute mess" as he accused Isak's agent, Vlado Lemic, of failing his client. "If I was him, I'd get his agent in a room and sack him on the spot immediately, because he is meant to be giving him the advice to sign that six-year deal and there's no get out clause," Shearer said. "I mean, it's ridiculous. And to take anyone's word in football... it's nonsensical to say that someone said, 'Oh, I'll be able to get out at the end of the season'. Really? I mean, come on." - 'Wrong way' - The ex-England striker added: "I've always said there are two sides to every story, but my feelings are exactly the same: he's gone about it in the wrong way. "I just think even releasing this statement last night has thrown flames onto the fire, which he didn't need to do... It doesn't benefit anyone." According to reports, Isak had been promised an improved contract only for Newcastle to hold off due to pressures of meeting financial sustainability rules. Newcastle issued a statement late Tuesday saying while they were saddened by Isak's comments, they could yet welcome him back into the squad. "No commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer," said the statement. "We want to keep our best players... Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates." Isak has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances since joining from Real Sociedad in 2022, including the winner against Liverpool in the League Cup final earlier this year that ended Newcastle's 70-year wait to win a domestic trophy. Liverpool have already spent around £300 million overhauling a squad that romped to the Premier League title last season. But they have also recouped over £200 million in sales and are still in the market for attacking options after the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez and tragic death of Diogo Jota. Any deal is unlikely to be done before the two clubs face off in their next Premier League game on Monday at St James' Park. jdg/bsp/mw

Chuck's: famed smashburger joint to open first permanent London site

Smash burger joints are opening as quickly as New York pizzerias in London and next in line is Chuck's, a US import with a sturdy reputation. After a series of pop-ups and residencies, Chuck's will open permanently at Carousel's adjoining cocktail bar No. 23 in early September. The premise is simple: 'a single, crisp-beyond-crisp patty, cheddar, pickles, white onion and signature house sauce, all hugged by a pillow-soft potato roll'. The brand says it does away with 'gimmicks' and 'faff', instead employing a less is more approach. Founder Chuck George said there are 'no compromises, just a flawless formula'. He said: 'If you told me there'd be a Chuck's in London three years ago, I wouldn't have believed you, but here we are. I'm thrilled to be joining Ed and Ollie as co-inspirators [sic] in a permanent Chuck's set within the townhouse walls of No. 23. Burgers and fries are coming this September.' Chuck George was born raised in Virginia, US, by a Filipino-American mother and an American father, and an announcement sent to the Standard said his diverse heritage informs his cooking. He started his career in New York City with the Silkstone group, working alongside the likes of Phil Winser of Public House (The Pelican, The Bull Charlbury and The Hero) at venues like The Fat Radish and The Leadbelly. He launched his first restaurant in Milan in 2022 and quickly garnered a dedicated following thanks to his 'no modifications' approach. Later came branches in Paris, Rome, and Madrid. In London, the same burgers will be served alongside Carousel's existing list of cocktails, as well as wines and lagers. Chuck's fish sauce wings and chicken burger will arrive on the menu later on. Ed Templeton, co-founder of Carousel, said: 'Chuck instantly became part of the Carousel family when he first popped up with us last summer. We're beyond happy that he's joining us full time, and No. 23 really is the perfect fit. Who doesn't want a peerless smashburger with their spicy marg?" 23 Charlotte Street, W1T 1RW, @chucksnyc

Ivan Zazzaroni Weighs In On Rumors Linking Marseille Midfielder With Inter Milan Move: 'A Profile They Like A Lot'

Ivan Zazzaroni has taken stock of recent rumors linking Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot with a move to Inter Milan. According to Zazzaroni via FCInterNews, the San Siro giants appreciate the Frenchman's qualities. Despite failing to sign Adrien Rabiot as a free agent last summer, Inter could land the 30-year-old now. Indeed, the former Juventus star is keen to leave Stade Velodrome after falling out with several teammates. Furthermore, his mother-agent, Veronique, has already started offering his services to other European clubs. (Photo by Isabella BONOTTO / AFP) (Photo by ISABELLA BONOTTO/AFP via Getty Images) Veronique has contacted Inter, among other teams, to gauge their interest and explore the possibility of a deal. In the meantime, the Serie A runners-up are on the lookout for a new midfielder. After failing to land Manu Kone, they've started exploring other options. Meanwhile, Zazzaroni believes the Nerazzurri may be enthusiastic about signing the French ace. 'Adrien must leave Marseille after a quarrel with some teammates,' he claimed. 'He's a profile Inter like a lot, though the club hasn't yet spoken with the player's mother. 'Careful, we're only at the level of suggestion here… PS. Rabiot's mother isn't answering anyone.' Rabiot possesses an undeniable quality, not to mention a wealth of experience in Serie A. However, he is already 30 years old, which doesn't comply with Oaktree's new transfer policy. Therefore, it's hard to predict what's going to happen.
