Four-star prospect Maximo Adams agrees to Longhorns visit
While the Longhorns' 2026 class would get a boost with Adams in the mix, they do face competition. He is also set to visit Kentucky, Michigan State, Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke. The interest from some of the top programs comes as no surprise after the numbers he has put up.
During his junior season at Sierra Canyon School, Adams helped lead the Trailblazers to the program's first state title since 2019. He has also shined infront scouts at national showcases. Those showcases include the annual Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas and the EYBL circuit in the spring and summer.
Currently, the California native is ranked as the 40th best prospect in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the 17th-best small forward. Those rankings are partly why Adams has seen his stock skyrocket over the last few months.
With a final decision still months away, Adams will be a prospect to watch. He has drawn the attention of some of the best programs in the nation. That list could continue to grow the longer his recruitment stays open. Texas is hoping to be in the mix until the end.
If the Longhorns can add Adams, they would get one of the most talented scorers in the 2026 class who still has room to grow at the college level.

CBS names Texas defensive duo to preseason All-American team
Anthony Hill Jr. and Colin Simmons have been placed on the preseason All-American team for CBS Sports. This honor joins a number of others for the defensive duo for the Longhorns. Preseason All-American teams continue to pour out from around the country and every single one of them has featured a Longhorn. CBS Sports take was no different, giving love to a pair of Texas players that are set to have incredible years in 2025, Anthony Hill Jr. and Colin Simmons. Both have made other preseason All-American teams and will continue to be listed in these groups going forward. Anthony Hill Jr being on the team comes as no surprise, considering he is coming off an All-American year in 2024. Hill has been placed on the Bednarik, Butkus and other watchlists heading into this season, and is expected to be one of the best LBs in the country this year. He amassed 113 tackles, 8 sacks, 4 FFs and an INT last year, and he hopes to build off of that. He will almost assuredly be on a number of All-American teams by the end of the year as well. Colin Simmons is the newer addition to this type of company, but he is becoming accustomed very quickly. He is on the Bednarik watchlist and a number of other preseason All-American teams this year. The very talented sophomore comes off a year where he totaled 48 tackles, 9 sacks, 3 FFs and an INT. He has his eyes set on some lofty goals this year, and if he can reach those goals, he will be a shoe in for the All-American teams at the end of the year. Texas has as much hype as anyone in the country heading into the season. Arch Manning takes much of that attention, but the defensive talent on this team is very clear, with Hill and Simmons leading the way. Michael Taaffe was left off this list, as did Malik Muhammad, both of which have been featured on other teams. Regardless, the Texas defense is getting plenty of recognition heading into a massive year for the Horns.
