Coronation Street legend to stage TV return just weeks after exit
Coronation Street's Colson Smith is very busy following his departure from the soap.
Colson played Craig Tinker from 2011-2025. The character was killed a few weeks ago while on duty as a police officer.
'Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025,' he wrote on Instagram earlier this year, confirming his departure.
'I've loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street.
'I've learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I'm excited to play out the exit story for our Craigy. For me, this is the end of the beginning.
'I genuinely can't wait to see what chapter two has in store for me.'
Chapter two for Colson, so far, involves popular TV gameshows. The star previously revealed on the podcast On The Sofa that he will appear on Celebrity Mastermind soon, but he's also set to add another tense quiz show to his list.
Colson confirmed in a chat with his co-stars, friends and fellow podcast presenters Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price that he's due to feature on The Weakest Link, hosted by Romesh Ranganathan.
The actor went on to share that he's also been approached to appear on BBC One's Pointless, but he obviously needs to do this with a mate.
'They've also come in and asked about Pointless, but I've got to do it with a buddy', Colson said.
'Oh I'll do that. Yeah, I'm good at pointless!', Jack responded.
The actor previously told Metro and other publications that it was his decision to be killed off from Corrie, wanting a more finite exit storyline. More Trending
'For me to go, I would want to leave,' he explained.

'I would want to die, I would want the door to be shut, so then I can know in my head that Corrie has been this, Corrie has done that, and it is now done, and Craig's journey is over.
'So in a really weird way, it was the right thing for me to be killed. I didn't want that 'we might have you back', knowing that it would be very unlikely, and knowing that it would feel a bit like unfinished business and an unfinished job.

Major Coronation Street exit confirmed as star leaves after 2 years
Coronation Street viewers waved off Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) last month when he headed off to visit Simon Barlow – unaware that these would be his final scenes. Bobby first arrived on the cobbles in late 2023 and announced to Carla Connor (Alison King) that he was Rob Donovan's son. Carla took her nephew in and gave him a roof over his head, and supported him when he found out the true extent of Rob's crimes. However, she was left feeling betrayed when she found out that Bobby planned to help Rob escape police after he had kidnapped her, and ordered him to move out. When Bobby was later accused of being Lauren Bolton's (Cait Fitton) blackmailer, he decided to visit Simon abroad, which is where he has now chosen to stay for the foreseeable future. Metro understands that Bobby's exit from the street is a permanent one, though the door is still open for him to return in future. More Trending Jack is one of several Coronation Street actors to have left the show so far this year. Most recently, Sue Cleaver left her role as Eileen Grimshaw, with the character jetting off to Thailand following the death of sister Julie Carp. Characters Mason Radcliffe and Craig Tinker were also killed off this year, while Max Turner and Daisy Midgeley also left. Lorraine, who shares Nancy with her partner Mark Perez, flashed a beaming smile while dancing away with the sprog. The soap star has been putting her new physique on full display in recent times. Just last month, she sported a slimming flower print crop top and trousers combo as she partied the night away at a special bingo event. Underneath the tied top, she donned a skin-tight white vest which only emphasised her tiny waist. For shoes, Lorraine opted for complimentary open-toe leather platform strapped heels for the occasion. Alongside flaunting her physique, the star also opened up on a huge new milestone in her life. She captioned the snap: "5 months sober & still had a good night dancing! #Sobriety." The TV star also told how her changing figure was not down to popular weight loss jabs like Ozempic or Mounjaro. Instead, Lorraine opted for a gastric sleeve operation. EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley stars in very racy new film featuring full-frontal nudity One inquisitive fan on TikTok asked for Lorraine's secret, to which she simply answered back in the comments: "Gastric sleeve." A gastric sleeve is a weight loss procedure that removes a significant portion of the stomach, creating a smaller, sleeve-shaped pouch. The actress was written out of Eastenders in 2023 after seven years on the show in a huge shock to fans. Her character's axing was as part of a shock cast shake-up and her final scenes were aired in December of that year. She went onto reprise her fan-favourite role a number of times in 2024 before her last episode hit BBC screens in June. 4 She has been wowing fans online with her new look Credit: Instagram 4 The ex EastEnders actress has lost five stone Credit: Instagram / @lorraine_stanley_
