M-E's Klinger earns News 34 Sports' Athlete of the Week
ENDWELL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Your winner of this week's News34 Sports Athlete of the Week is Cooper Klinger. The Spartans' baseball standout would record an RBI in both sectional finals games against Owego, which allowed the team to win them both in nail-biting fashion, 2-1 and 4-3. Since then, he has also helped M-E reach a final four appearance as they chase back-to-back state championships, having topped Section VII's Peru 7-4 in a game where he had a hit, run, and RBI. Congratulations to Cooper on being News34 Sports' Athlete of the Week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Michigan State football falls out of the running for 3-star New Jersey cornerback
Michigan State football falls out of the running for 3-star New Jersey cornerback Michigan State football has been on the hunt, pursuing a cornerback from Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic in Xavier Jackson. The 3-star cornerback has been a top priority for the Spartans, with a commitment date on the horizon. Unfortunately for MSU, the pursuit of Jackson is off of the table, and now the team is going to be forced in going into a new direction. Jackson has announced that he has canceled his official visit to East Lansing for this weekend, and instead, he will be visiting North Carolina. This comes on the heels of official visits to Minnesota and Pittsburgh. This puts MSU in sort of a particular spot, not having a cornerback due to visit over the next two weekends, meaning that the Spartans will most likely identify new prospects in the coming day. Fans speculate Carson Cooper is working on new part of game following recent social media post
Fans speculate Carson Cooper is working on new part of game following recent social media post Could Michigan State big man Carson Cooper be working on adding a new element to his game this offseason? Fans are speculating that to be the case following a recent photo shared by the Spartans' official social media account. Michigan State basketball is conducting offseason workouts this week, which obviously led to a few social media posts from the program's official X account. Included in one of those posts was a picture that shows Cooper lining up for a shot from behind the three-point line. This single image has generated some buzz on social media, with multiple fans responding with speculation that Cooper is working on developing a three-point shot this offseason. You can see the post from Michigan State showing what appears to be Cooper preparing for a three-point shot below: Could this be something or is it nothing? Well, this picture alone is probably nothing since every basketball player practices shots from all over the floor. So this could simply be a pure coincidence that the social media team picked a picture of Cooper in this one instance. But, it's definitely more fun and intriguing to speculate that this is the beginning of a new part of Cooper's game. You can't argue against that. For reference, Cooper has recorded only one three-point attempt in his three previous seasons at Michigan State -- which he missed this past year. So should he actually add a more frequent three-point shot to his game, that would be quite the change from what we have previously seen. For now, we can back-burner this thought. But when we get our first look at the Spartans in the fall, this will be something I personally will keep an eye out for when Cooper and Michigan State take the court for the first time.
