
Two people (20s) arrested as gardaí seize drugs worth €715,000 in Clondalkin
Two young people were arrested as gardaí seized drugs worth €715,000 in Dublin yesterday.
A vehicle was stopped at approximately 3.45am by uniform gardaí attached to Clondalkin Community Engagement, while they were on a routine patrol in Rathcoole and Citywest in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The male driver of the vehicle, aged in his 20s, was then searched along with the vehicle, and gardaí seized cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €10,000.
The man was arrested before being detained at a Garda station in Dublin and has been charged in relation to the seizure.
He is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court this morning at 10.30am.
An Garda Síochána also conducted further searches at three residential properties, during which cannabis herb, cocaine and crack cocaine were seized along with various drug-related paraphernalia, with an estimated street value of €705,000.
A female, also aged in her 20s, was arrested during one search and detained at a Garda station in Dublin.
The woman has since been released without charge, and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The seized drugs, with a total estimated value of €715,000, have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing, a Garda spokesperson said.

Garda injured while arresting sword-wielding suspect
A garda was hospitalised after suffering injuries while arresting a man armed with a sword in south Dublin on Sunday. The incident occurred in the Ballyogan area of Dublin 18 just after 1.30am on Sunday. Gardaí based in Blackrock responded to reports of a man wielding a sword. While arresting the suspect, a male garda sustained injuries, according to a Garda statement. He was taken to hospital for assessment and has since been discharged. The suspect, a man in his 40s, has since been charged in connection with the incident. He is due before Dublin District Court on Monday morning.

Garda hospitalised after being assaulted while arresting sword-wielding man
A man has been charged with assaulting a garda after he was caught brandishing a sword in South Dublin last night. Officers responded to calls from locals that a man was walking around the Ballyogan area of South Dublin, armed with a sword in the early hours of this morning. When officers responded they attempted to apprehend the man, who was carrying what appeared to be a sword. It is understood the man, who is originally from an Eastern European country, has been residing in Ireland for some time, and gardai do have mental health concerns regarding this incident. One officer was minorly injured in the course of the arrest, before the man was apprehended and disarmed. The man was taken to Blackrock Garda station where he was subsequently charged with assault. 'A member of An Garda Síochána (male) sustained an injury while responding and was taken to hospital for assessment. He has since been discharged.
