
Court records statement of Sreenath Bhasi in hybrid ganja case
The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court- I at Cherthala on Wednesday recorded the statement of actor Sreenath Bhasi in connection with the Alappuzha hybrid ganja case.
Bhasi, who appeared before judge Sherin K. George in the afternoon, recorded his confidential statement under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
The Excise department earlier decided to make him a witness in the case. On April 28, Mr. Bhasi, along with actor Shine Tom Chacko and model K. Sowmya, appeared before the excise team probing the case. They were let off after interrogation. Though call and message details retrieved from the mobile phone of Thasleema Sulthana, one of the accused in the case, established her links with the actors, officials said they could not be named as accused in the case.
Excise sleuths seized three kg of hybrid ganja on April 1 from a resort at Omanapuzha in Alappuzha. Besides Thasleema, it arrested her husband Sultan Akbar Ali and K. Feroze in connection with the case. .

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to the audience due to the actors' withdrawal and the resulting casting changes. Father of two held for raping 3-year-old girl in Zirakpur
In a deeply disturbing incident, a labourer allegedly raped a home-alone three-year-old girl after luring her with a chocolate in Zirakpur. After sexually assaulting the toddler, the accused, identified as Salam, also inserted a matchstick into her genitalia, the child's mother complained to the police. Acting on the complaint, police arrested the accused, who is married and has two children, on Thursday. The crime took place on May 31, but details emerged the following day, they said. After the mother noticed her daughter struggling to walk, she took her to GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where doctors discovered the sexual assault. The child remained under treatment for four days, and after her discharge on Wednesday, her mother approached the police, who sprang into action and arrested the accused. 'My daughter herself told me that she's in pain and was continuously pointing to the man, who lured her with chocolate,' said the child's mother, also a daily wage labourer. The accused is not known to the family. 'We're from Bihar and like us, he also came here for work. We don't know him,' she told police. The accused is facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 65 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which covers punishment for rape. Teen visiting friend raped by her uncle in Panchkula In another sexual crime against children, a 13-year-old girl visiting her friend in Chandigarh was raped by her uncle on June 2. The man was asked by his niece to drop her friend home. However, he took her to his house and sexually assaulted her, said police. Police were alerted by the teenager's grandmother, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, lives in Chandigarh and works as a domestic helper in Panchkula. Subsequently, a medical examination of the child confirmed the rape. Acting immediately, police arrested the accused from Chandigarh on June 4. He was identified as Sanjiv, alias Sanju, 42, a sanitation worker in Chandigarh. He was booked under Section 64(1) (rape) of the BNS and Section 4 (penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act at the Sector-5 police station in Panchkula.

136 cyber criminals nabbed across Tamil Nadu in operation ‘Thiraineekku-II'
The Cyber Crime Wing of TN Police has arrested 136 cyber criminals across Tamil Nadu after conducting A special operation called Operation 'Thiraineekku- II.' In December last year, the Cyber Crime Wing earlier conducted 'Operation Thiraineekku-I' and arrested 76 cyber criminals across the state. The second phase of the operation officially began on June 2 and concluded in the early hours of June 4. The operation was planned and executed across all districts and cities of Tamil Nadu. This large-scale operation was based on accused profiling by scientific investigation of Cyber Crime Wing teams under close supervision of Superintendent of Police I. Shahnaz. The profiling was done based on complaints registered through National CRP Portal of Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and also through bank fund trail linkages established by financial data analysis of cybercriminal networks. Additional Director General of Police, Cyber Crime Wing Sandeep Mittal said the special teams have arrested 136 cyber criminals across Tamil Nadu. These criminals are linked to 159 cases registered by the Cyber Crime Police Stations in Tamil Nadu. Bank mule agents were identified and six have been secured busting a gang which is behind 30-odd shell companies, with over 100 agents working for it. During the special operation, the Cyber Crime Wing has seized 125 mobile phones, 304 bank accounts, 88 cheque books, 107 ATM debit / credit cards, 35 desktops, etc. 'We are analysing digital evidence and interrogating the arrested individuals to uncover additional layers of the criminal operations throughout India. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend other members of the network, recover defrauded funds, and identify broader links to nationwide cybercrime activities,' said Mr. Mittal.
