Telangana: Congress MLC Chintapandu Naveen alias Teenmar Mallanna – his office was reportedly vandalised by Telangana Jagruthi workers following his remarks against Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister and BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao.
A Member of the legislative Council (MLC), Naveen Kumar is popularly known by his screen name Teenmaar Mallanna.
Visuals of the vandalised office premises showed chairs broken, and other furniture all strewn over the floor.
Supporters of the Congress MLC were protesting against the Telangana Jagruthi workers, and also called for the arrest of the attackers.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police of the region said that they had just received information about the incident, and officials are currently enroute the spot, reported ANI.
Mallanna was reportedly present in his office in Medipally when the incident occurred.
As per initial reports, a group of Telangana Jagruthi members reportedly enraged by Mallanna's comments, stormed into the Congress MLC's office and "vandalised" furniture, reported PTI.
They also allegedly assaulted some employees, prompting the gunman to open fire in the air in self-defence, a senior police official told PTI.
Television footage also showed the gunman firing into the air to disperse the mob, as several protesters were seen attacking staff inside the premises.

The Congress MLC first rose to fame as the host of the satirical political show Teenmaar Vaarthalu, where he played the character Teenmaar Mallanna.
Over time, he launched his own YouTube channel, gaining popularity for his sharp political commentary — often targeting leaders of the previous BRS government. Mallanna is also known for making provocative remarks against his political rivals, which has frequently stirred backlash, mentioned a report by The News Minute.

'India's freedom of speech regulated by Israel?': Congress questions after envoy Reuven Azar ‘targets' Priyanka Gandhi

Congress leader Pawan Khera on Wednesday, launched a scathing attack on Israel Ambassador Reuven Azar after his criticism of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who had accused Tel Aviv of 'genocide' and criticising the Indian government for its 'silence' on the matter. In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Khera slammed Reuven Azar, stating that him 'targeting' a sitting Member of the Indian Parliament is 'both unprecedented and intolerable.' The Congress leader further tagged S Jaishankar, questioning if 'freedom of speech in India' had now 'begun to be regulated from Israel." Following Priyanka Gandhi's post on X, Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar accused the Congress leader of spreading 'deceit' and presented Israel's version of the conflict's toll. 'What is shameful is your deceit. Israel killed 25,000 Hamas terrorists. The terrible cost in human lives derives from Hamas's heinous tactics of hiding behind civilians, their shooting of people trying to evacuate or receive assistance and their rocket fire,' Azar said in his post. The Israeli diplomat's post comes after Priyanka Gandhi alleged that Israel 'murdered over 60,000 people, 18,430 of whom were children', starved hundreds to death, and was threatening to starve millions more. 'Enabling these crimes by silence and inaction is a crime in itself. It is shameful that the Indian Government stands silent as Israel unleashes this devastation on the people of Palestine,' she wroteon X, on Tuesday. Apart from Pawan Khera, Congress's Gaurav Gogoi also hit out at the Israeli ambassador, stating that the 'Parliament cannot remain a passive spectator.' "The disparaging comments made by a foreign Ambassador against a Member of Parliament of India is a serious breach of privilege. Even if the Union Government is silent, the Parliament cannot remain a passive spectator..." he said on X. Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma also strongly condemned the remarks of the Israeli Ambassador to India, "denying" the humanitarian crisis of Gaza, saying that the language used by the Israeli representative and "undiplomatic, distasteful and unacceptable," while the brutality, destruction of schools, hospitals and mass starvation is taking place. As Israel continues its bombardment, the IDF said it has approved the "framework" for a new offensive in the Gaza Strip, days after the security cabinet called for the seizure of Gaza City, reported AFP. On Tuesday, Gaza's Health Ministry reported that five more Palestinians have died from hunger, bringing the total number of starvation-related deaths to 227, including 103 children.

Shashi Tharoor joins stray dog debate following SC order, flags 'unwillingness of municipalities to neutering' canines

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor weighed in on the stray dog debate following the Supreme Court order, stating that that the 'flaw in our system is not lack of resources, but the unwillingness or inability of municipalities to perform the task of rounding up and neutering stray dogs, even when funds have been provided.' Shashi Tharoor's comments come after the Supreme Court on Monday, directed Delhi authorities to remove stray dogs from localities and house them in shelters due to increasing dog bite incidents. "This is a thoughtful response to the problem that is affecting ordinary citizens in every city. We need to protect humans while being humane to dogs. But one point no one mentions is that the flaw in our system is not lack of resources, but the unwillingness or inability of municipalities to perform the task of rounding up and neutering stray dogs, even when funds have been provided. These funds are never actually spent where needed — in making the arrangements that the SC, in understandable exasperation, has now decreed. Perhaps the funds should instead be allotted to Animal Welfare groups and sincere NGOs with a track record of sheltering animals? They are more likely to implement the ABC programme than the municipalities are," Tharoor posted on X. Calling the stray dog situation in the city "extremely grim," the Supreme Court on Monday ordered the Delhi government and municipal bodies to begin removing stray dogs from all local areas without delay and house them in designated dog shelters. A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan directed Delhi authorities to set up shelters for about 5,000 dogs within six to eight weeks, to be expanded in phases. The court also warned that anyone obstructing the relocation drive — whether individuals or organisations — could face contempt proceedings. (This is a developing story. Voter's list row: Congress' Sonia Gandhi's name added to voter list before she was citizen? BJP alleges so

Voter's list row: Congress' Sonia Gandhi's name added to voter list before she was citizen? BJP alleges so The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday launched a counterattack on Congress and claimed Sonia Gandhi had been illegally added to the voter list 45 years ago, before she was an Indian citizen. The Congress has accused the BJP of 'colluding' with the Election Commission to commit voter fraud. Ex-Union Minister Anurag Thakur claimed ex-Congress boss – born Sonia Maino in Italy in 1946 – was added on the list from 1980 to 1982, a year before she was an Indian citizen. In a long Twitter post, BJP leader Amit Malviya claimed that Sonia Gandhi's name first appeared on the rolls in 1980 — three years before she became an Indian citizen and while she still held Italian citizenship. The post read: Sonia Gandhi's tryst with India's voters' list is riddled with glaring violations of electoral law. This perhaps explains Rahul Gandhi's fondness for regularising ineligible and illegal voters, and his opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Her name first appeared on the rolls in 1980 — three years before she became an Indian citizen and while she still held Italian citizenship. At the time, the Gandhi family lived at 1, Safdarjung Road, the official residence of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Until then, the voters registered at that address were Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, and Maneka Gandhi. In 1980, the electoral rolls of the New Delhi parliamentary constituency were revised with January 1, 1980, as the qualifying date. During this revision, Sonia Gandhi's name was added, appearing at serial number 388 in polling station 145. This entry was a clear violation of the law, which requires a person to be an Indian citizen to be registered as a voter. Following an outcry in 1982, her name was deleted from the list — only to reappear in 1983. But even her reinstatement raised serious questions. In the fresh revision of the electoral rolls that year, Sonia Gandhi was listed at serial number 236 in polling station 140. The qualifying date for registration was January 1, 1983 — yet she was granted Indian citizenship only on April 30, 1983. In other words, Sonia Gandhi's name entered the electoral rolls twice without meeting the basic citizenship requirement — first as an Italian citizen in 1980, and then again in 1983, months before she legally became a citizen of India. We are not even asking why it took her 15 years after marrying Rajiv Gandhi to accept Indian citizenship. If this isn't blatant electoral malpractice, what is? What the Opposition is alleging? Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, also made explosive claims of a 'huge criminal fraud' in polls through collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission. Alleging that a 'vote chori model' was being used in many constituencies across the country, Gandhi said that the judiciary needs to get involved in this because 'the democracy that we love so much, does not exist anymore'.
