Gonzaga's Mark Few Suffers Major Transfer Portal Loss
Gonzaga has long been a powerhouse in men's college basketball, and it has reached the NCAA Tournament five straight times and an amazing 25 times in the last 26 seasons under head coach Mark Few.
This past season, it made it to the second round of March Madness, where it lost to the Houston Cougars by a final score of 81-76. It has lost wing Michael Ajayi and guard Dusty Stromer to the transfer portal, although neither loss was thought to be major.

But now, the Bulldogs have lost forward Ben Gregg, a significant part of their rotation, to the transfer portal just before it closed on Tuesday night.
Gregg started in 20 of his 35 games this past season and averaged 9.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 19.9 minutes a game. While his 3-point shooting accuracy fell from 37.7% during the 2023-24 campaign to 27.1% last season, he still shot a career-high 57.1% from the field overall.

The Oregon native has spent all five of his college seasons with Gonzaga, and in order for him to actually play for another school this fall, the NCAA will need to give him eligibility for one more year.

At 6-foot-10, he's a tough cover when he has his outside shot going, and he has also improved his free throw shooting throughout his time with the Bulldogs.
With Gregg leaving, Few's frontcourt rotation could be a bit thin next season as Gonzaga looks to find a way to reach the national championship game for the first time since 2021.

With Stevenson likely gone in 2026, North Carolina needs an answer at catcher. UNC also carries Liberty transfer Macaddin Dye behind the plate, plus Juco transfer Rom Kellis, but wants to add another option. The Diamond Heels are hoping that their latest roster addition is their answer behind the dish. On Saturday, North Carolina secured a commitment from Georgia State transfer Colin Hynek, who started 105 of the 132 games he played in Atlanta. Like Stevenson, Hynek is also a power threat at the plate, mashing 33 home runs and driving in 91 runs across thre seasons. By coming to Chapel Hill, Hynek will have a significantly better shot at competing for a championship. Georgia State just completed a 26-30 campaign and hasn't made the NCAA Tournament since 2009, while UNC is playing in the Super Regional round for a second-consecutive season. The Diamond Heels will benefit from adding more starting pitching to their 2026 roster, while more hitting power couldn't hurt. Awesome baby! Dick Vitale, 86, signed a contract extension with ESPN through the 2027-28 season Monday. That was not the only present he received on his birthday. In July 2023, he was diagnosed with vocal cord cancer. \After radiation treatments, he was advised by doctors to rest his voice, forcing him to miss the 2023-2024 season. Vitale had to fight cancer one more time in June 2024 as cancer was found a lymph node in his neck. But in the end, Vitale defeated it again. Angry footy fans have taken aim at Fox League's relentless promotional video for Lachie Galvin before his first game for the Bulldogs on Monday. And the decision from the NRL 360 panel to snub Canberra milestone man Josh Papalii in favour of the Canterbury recruit has sparked backlash around the NRL world. Galvin enjoyed a fairytale debut for the Dogs after coming off the bench and scoring a late try in his side's 30-12 win over Parramatta in the King's Birthday clash at Accor Stadium. Galvin's name was chanted behind the bench as he prepared to come on and the 19-year-old was given a standing ovation when he entered the fray in the second half, before being mobbed by teammates when he scored a late try to all but seal the win. "It was (a relief). For the fans to get behind me (after) being here a week only is pretty cool," Galvin said after the match. "That's all in the past now. I just want to come over here and play good footy and enjoy my footy, that is the main reason I play and the reason I want to be here." Galvin was a late call-up to coach Cameron Ciraldo's 17-man squad after initially being named amongst the reserves. The fact they chose to overlook Canberra great Papalii's record-breaking game for the Raiders on Sunday left many fans baffled. Papalii scored a fairytale double as he became the most-capped player in Canberra history with 319 appearances. He even kicked an impressive conversion out wide for the high-flying Raiders to help them record a gritty come-from-behind win over South Sydney.
