As part of the column 'Women by Women: A Shared Vision,' created to expand and develop the theme chosen for our Global open call, we had a conversation with April Wiser, curator and founder of Foto Femme United, a startup fostering diversity, equity and inclusion of female and non-binary photographers. Their organise open calls and exhibitions, provide news and educational content on their website and social media and support women and non-binary photographers in their artistic path. We discussed about feminist practices, the power of photography in creating change and the fundamental role of solidarity and cooperation between creatives.

How did Foto Femme United come to life?
Foto Femme United (FFU) was founded in 2019 as a deliberate and organised response to the need for greater transparency and inclusivity within the photography industry. Prompted by research findings that revealed significant disparities and systemic biases, FFU emerged as a platform committed to challenging the status quo and amplifying underrepresented voices. Our mission is to provide meaningful exposure and support to female and non-binary photographers whose work too often goes unseen or unacknowledged in mainstream spaces. Through curated features, exhibitions, and community engagement, we strive to foster a more equitable and diverse visual landscape.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently certified dozens of songs by fellow musician Chris Brown in a sweeping move that added millions of additional certified units to his growing total. Among the tracks affected is "Back to Sleep." Several remixes of the 2015 single were released when Brown was promoting it years ago, including ones featuring Usher, Zayn, Miguel, Trey Songz—and Kelly himself. The remix featuring Kelly, along with Tank and Anthony Hamilton, is the one that just earned a new plaque from the RIAA. That track may now be Kelly's biggest win when it comes to certifications. "Back to Sleep" was named a gold and then platinum hit in October 2017, and it reached double platinum status in 2019. It has now doubled again, with the RIAA certifying it for shifting 4 million equivalent units between sales and streaming activity. It appears that "Back to Sleep" may now be Kelly's most-certified single, according to the RIAA. It marks his first new certification in years, as the last time the organization awarded one of his own tracks was back in 2007, though it's possible that some collaborations, like 'Back to Sleep,' may have been named without officially appearing in his total. None of his most recognizable tunes, including "I Believe I Can Fly," "Bump n' Grind," or "You Remind Me of Something," have advanced past platinum status. More than 20 of Brown's singles either earned their first certifications or moved up on Friday (June 6), when the RIAA unveiled dozens of new awards. Two cuts — "Loyal" featuring Tyga and Lil Wayne, and "Forever" — moved up to eight-times platinum status, and both may soon become diamond-certified hits. Brown already claims two of those coveted prizes, including "Look at Me Now" alongside Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, which became his second diamond smash just last month. It joined "No Guidance" with Drake in that rare club.

Metallica's Smash Brings The Band To A Milestone For The First Time
Metallica's catalog is filled with the kind of rock smashes any band would be lucky to claim. The Grammy-winning group has produced more hits than most acts could ever dream of – especially in the hard rock space – but when it comes to pure purchases by American listeners, one title stands out above the rest. 'Enter Sandman' is a bestseller yet again in the United States. The track currently appears on a trio of Billboard rankings dedicated purely to sales, and this frame is especially notable for the tune. Metallica's timeless cut lifts one spot on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart, earning its one-hundredth stay on the list of the bestselling rock-only tracks in the country. The track is so massively popular that it has spent more time on the tally than Metallica's other 13 charting successes combined. The group's second-longest running entry is 'Master of Puppets,' which so far has managed just seven appearances on the list. While 'Enter Sandman' is easily Metallica's longest-charting release on the Rock Digital Song Sales roster, it doesn't stand as the band's highest-peaking.
