4 Girl Students In Hospital. They Were Made To Do 200 Sit-Ups For Being Late
They were class 12 students of the Kasturba Gandhi Girls School in Bagunda in Patamda block.
They are at present undergoing treatment at the ICU of MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur.
They were made to do the sit-ups as they reached school five minutes late, their families alleged.
Following the sit-ups, the girls started vomiting and fell unconscious. They were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Macha, from where they were sent to the MGM Hospital.
District Education Officer Manoj Kumar told PTI that he will conduct a probe into this incident and take appropriate action against the teacher, who ordered the punishment, if found guilty.
JMM MLA Mangal Kalindi, who visited the hospital, told PTI that two of the students were fasting as it was an auspicious Monday of the holy Shravan month.
He directed the hospital authorities to take special care of the students, whose condition was stated to be stable.
He said the KGGS band had earned laurels for their performance during the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

At least 64 people in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district have tested positive for Hepatitis B and C cases, recording an alarming rise in the infections, officials said Monday. Preliminary investigations by health officials suggested that the likely cause of the outbreak in the Sonsari village, which does not have a barber shop, is the unsafe shaving and hair-cutting practices followed by barbers who come from neighbouring villages. These barbers are suspected of using non-sterile blades and equipment, which could have resulted in the widespread transmission of blood-borne viruses, especially Hepatitis B and C, said a health officer. 'There isn't a single barber shop in our village. Barbers are invited here every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Almost every male resident gets their shaving and haircut done by them,' said village pradhan Shailendra Mishra. Health officials have urged residents to use new or properly sterilised tools for shaving and haircuts. They have launched an intensive screening and testing drive across Sonsari village to detect and prevent the spread of the infection. Mishra added that after medical officers informed them that the disease likely spread through the razors brought by barbers, the village formed two or three teams. 'These teams are working to convince residents to get their shaving and haircuts done at home using clean and personal tools, to lower the risk of infection,' he said. Sonsari village, located around 50 kilometres from the Sitapur district headquarters, has a population of around 3,000, with farming being the primary occupation. A few residents have also migrated outside the district for work. According to officials, the infection was first reported last month when a few residents visited the Community Health Centre (CHC), Tambour, in Behta block for blood tests related to other health issues. Dr Suresh Kumar, Chief Medical Officer, Unnao, said on Tuesday that the health department decided to test more people after other villagers also tested positive, and set up a medical camp. In the two medical camps organised recently, blood samples were collected from 400 residents and sent for testing. 'Out of these, 64 people were found positive for Hepatitis B and C. We are now working to collect and test blood samples from the entire village,' said Kumar. Most of those who tested positive are not showing any symptoms, he added. Hepatitis B and C spread through contact with infected blood or body fluids. This can happen through unprotected sex, sharing needles, using unsterilised medical or dental tools, sharing razors or blades, and unsafe tattooing or piercing. CMO Kumar said that while the exact cause of the Hepatitis B and C outbreak in the village is yet to be confirmed, the suspected reason is the shared use of razors and blades during shaving and haircuts. A team of physicians from the Sitapur district hospital is also being sent to the village to assist with diagnosis and further investigation, he added. The medical department is also compiling detailed case histories of each infected individual, with special focus on men and women separately, to better understand the pattern of the outbreak. CMO Kumar said the blood samples of those who tested positive are being sent to King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow for viral load testing, which will help assess the severity of the infection in each case. The health department is also planning to collect blood samples from neighbouring villages, and is preparing a list of Sonsari residents who are currently working outside the district. 'Once the details of Sonsari residents currently living outside the district are collected, the list will be shared with the chief medical officers (CMOs) of the respective districts to ensure they are tested and to prevent any further spread of the infection,' said Kumar.

Agency: Bengaluru, Aug 5 (PTI) Aster DM Healthcare on Tuesday announced an investment of Rs 580 crore to set up a state-of-the-art, 500-bed multi-specialty hospital in Yeshwanthpur. The upcoming facility will be the company's fifth hospital in the city, taking Aster's total bed capacity in Bengaluru to 2,580, according to Dr Azad Moopen, founder and chairman, Aster DM Healthcare. The hospital is expected to become operational in the second half of FY 2028-29, the company said in a press release. 'This new hospital reflects our asset-light expansion strategy, leveraging Built-to-Suit models to deliver world-class healthcare infrastructure in high-demand corridors while maintaining capital efficiency," Dr Moopen added. SME IPO: Medistep Healthcares Rs 16-cr public issue to open on Aug 8
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) Pharmaceutical firm Medistep Healthcare is set to raise a little over Rs 16 crore through its initial public offering (IPO), which opens for subscription on August 8. The company's maiden public issue will conclude on August 12. The shares are scheduled to be listed on the NSE SME platform on August 18, Medistep Healthcare said in a statement. The IPO comprises 37.44 lakh equity shares priced at a fixed Rs 43 per share, aggregating to a total issue size of Rs 16.09 crore. Following the listing, the company is expected to have a market capitalisation of Rs 61.10 crore. The company will utilise the proceeds of the IPO for purchase of plant and machinery for expansion of its existing manufacturing facility, working capital requirements and general corporate purposes. 'Proceeds from the IPO will strategically support our expansion efforts and reinforce our footprint in both domestic and international markets," Girdhari Lal Prajapati, Managing Director at Medistep Healthcare, said. The company is in the business of manufacturing sanitary pads & energy powder, and trading of a diverse range of pharmaceutical products, nutraceutical products, intimate products and surgical products through a distribution network. On the financial front, the company recorded revenue from operations of Rs 49.65 crore in FY25, an increase from Rs 39.07 crore in the preceding fiscal. Its profit after tax (PAT) also rose to Rs 4.14 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 3.33 crore in the previous financial year.
