Our predicted starting XI for Carabao Cup tie
OXFORD United face off against Colchester United in the first match of their Carabao Cup campaign on Tuesday night. Following Saturday's defeat to Portsmouth and ahead of Sunday's league clash against Hull City, expect Gary Rowett to rest most of those who started against Pompey. Here's who we think will be the names featured in Rowett's starting XI. READ ALSO: Key talking points as U's begin season with home defeat GOALKEEPER Expect to see Matt Ingram between the sticks. This will give Jamie Cumming a rest ahead of the weekend after his efforts against Pompey. Ingram's last appearance for the U's was against Swansea City in May. DEFENCE Peter Kioso might make an appearance at right back having not even featured in the matchday squad against Pompey. Colchester could be a good opportunity to give Jack Currie another chance to prove himself after an impressive season on loan at Leyton Orient. The left back came on with just over 20 minutes left against Pompey and showed plenty of promise. Starting him against Colchester gives him another opportunity to impress as he looks to make a case to put himself into the starting XI for the league campaign. Sam Long seems an obvious choice for centre half after not getting minutes on Saturday. Michal Helik appears to be the only other option to play alongside Long, with Elliott Moore going off injured on Saturday and Ciaron Brown still recovering from a knee ligament injury. CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE OXFORD MAIL ONLINE (Image: Newsquest) MIDFIELD With new signing Brian De Keersmaecker injured and Cameron Brannagan likely to be rested, Louie Sibley should get a start in centre midfield after coming on late against Pompey. We expect the midfielder to start in a flat two alongside Will Vaulks, who played the majority of the game on Saturday. We believe Rowett will play a 4-4-2 against Colchester, with Siriki Dembele playing on the left of the midfield four. Dembele came on for the last quarter of the game on Saturday and proved to be a real handful for defenders at times last season. Matt Phillips is our guess for who will be playing on the right side of this midfield. STRIKERS It would make sense for Gatlin O'Donkor to start up front for United alongside Tom Bradshaw, with Mark Harris and Will Lankshear likely to be rested following their starts on Saturday. SUBSTITUTES There is likely to be an opportunity for exciting academy prospect Leo Snowden on the bench. Jamie Cumming and Hidde ter Avest, plus the aforementioned Moore and Leigh will be good reinforcements at the back. Brannagan, Stan Mills, Tyler Goodrham and Lankshear will also likely appear in the squad.

'Down to all Dons to help Yengi flourish'
Aberdeen full-back Nicky Devlin says it is down to all of the squad to help struggling striker Kusini Yengi get to grips with life at Pittodrie. The summer arrival from Portsmouth had another testing afternoon against Celtic and a poor Scottish Premiership debut against Hearts the week prior, with his side losing both games 2-0. The 26-year-old arrived at Aberdeen on a free transfer on the back of a barren second season in front of goal with Portsmouth, although he did net twice for Australia in a World Cup qualifier against Bahrain. Devlin said: "It's probably important for the rest of us to give him more opportunity. There were times he was having to feed off balls that weren't great quality into him. "He was fighting against two big centre-halves, which was obviously making it difficult for him. I think we have to probably get the ball in better areas, play more to his strengths. "It's his first taste of being up here, it's only his second game in the league. It's probably more about other people doing a wee bit more to support him and getting the ball into areas that we know he can be dangerous. "We've seen it in training already, we've seen it in some of the pre-season games. We have to play more to his strengths at times, get the ball into areas that we know he's going to hurt teams. "We wanted to start the first home game with picking up points, but ultimately I don't think we've done enough in the game to trouble Celtic." Aberdeen now face a wait to return to top-flight action and climb off the foot of the table, with their next fixture on August 31 against Falkirk, owing to their League Cup and European commitments.

Murphy back soon for Pompey
Portsmouth boss John Mousinho expects to have winger Josh Murphy available before the end of August. The former Oxford man missed Pompey's 1-0 win at the Kassam Stadium but is not expected to be out long term. Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent: "Josh picked up a slight hamstring injury in the last pre-season game.
