Mousinho silences Lang transfer speculation
Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has confirmed that forward Callum Lang is expected to stay with the club despite reports linking him with a move."Lang will be a Portsmouth player," Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent after the side's 4-0 victory over Reading on the weekend."You can see on [Saturday's] performance that that isn't a player that's swanning away from the football club. 'I'm the fittest I've ever been'
Portsmouth forward Callum Lang says he's now the fittest he's ever been after missing 10 of the last 13 games last season with a hamstring to his injury, Lang was a regular feature in the starting XI during Pompey's Championship campaign but was not able to complete a full 90 minutes in any of the final three games upon return from his he has found a silver lining from his time in the recovery room."Coming back to pre-season, it's the fittest I've ever been," Lang told BBC Radio Solent."I'd like to think as a player I'm pretty fit and I always have been. It's what I pride myself on a lot, my energy and getting around the pitch."But I think I've stepped it up a level and I'm even fitter going into this season. Injured Lang set to miss rest of season for Pompey
Portsmouth forward Callum Lang is set to miss the rest of the season with a torn 26-year-old sustained the injury in Saturday's 2-0 win at Oxford has scored 10 goals for the south coast club this season, including a four-goal haul against Coventry City in December."Callum's not great, [he has] a torn hamstring," head coach John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent. "He's had his scan, he's going to have a second scan in 10 days to see if it's settled down [but] mostly likely we're looking at Callum returning next season unfortunately."[It's] one of those that's really, really unfortunate. Callum's been incredible this season in terms of his physical output, and certainly in terms of his goals and everything that he's done, but it's not looking great, it's a bit of a gutting one for Callum." Lang has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season and has scored 14 goals in 42 games since moving to Fratton Park from Wigan Athletic in January last have won their past two matches to lift themselves seven points clear of the Championship relegation last goal of the season was in his side's 3-1 win against Stoke City last month."He's played a huge part in where we are today and he's still got a huge part to play," Mousinho added."He's a very important member of the dressing room, he's one of the leaders and we need to make sure he stays around, stays positive and gets back for next season fit."
