PM Narendra Modi to visit Odisha on June 20, will attend celebration event to mark 1 year of BJP govt in state
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], June 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on June 20 to attend a celebration event to mark the completion of one year of the Odisha government.
BJP MLA Irasis Acharya said that PM Modi has given special attention to Odisha and is visiting to convey his message of making Odisha the forefront state of the country.
Speaking to ANI, MLA Acharya said, 'In the last year, the PM has given special focus on Odisha. He also participated in the programs organised in Odisha to take the state forward... He is focused on how to make Odisha the best state... More than 95% of the Odia population loves PM Modi... He is coming to give us a message on making Odisha the forefront state in the country. He wants Odisha to be the development centre of India... PM Modi is coming to attend the celebration event of the completion of one year of the Odisha government...'
Odisha Minister Suresh Pujari said that one year of the Odisha government coincides with the 11th year of the Central government. He added that PM Modi loves East India and is connected to the development of Odisha.
Pujari told ANI, '...The Odisha government will be completing 1 year in office, which coincides with the 11th year of the central government. PM Narendra Modi will be coming to Odisha on the 20th June, and this will be his 6th visit within 1 year. I do not know whether he has visited any state of India more than six times. He loves East India and is deeply connected with the growth of people and the development of Odisha.'
'The central government during the last year has contributed a lot and provided all types of assistance, including funding, and we will be expecting more in the next year to take Odisha to new heights of prosperity and glory,' the Minister added.
The Narendra Modi government in the Centre completed its 11 years on Monday. BJP President and MP JP Nadda held a press conference to note the government's achievements during this time. (ANI)

‘Urban Naxal' is a fictitious term coined by BJP to gain traction: Maha Cong prez
Nagpur: Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal said the term "Urban Naxal" is one conjured up by BJP as part of its propaganda and added there is "no such thing as Urban Naxal". During last year's polls, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had alleged that Congress neta Rahul Gandhi is surrounded by Urban Naxals. Talking to TOI, Sapkal said, "Who is an Urban Naxal? Do they carry weapons like Maoists? The truth is no such thing exists. BJP conjures up such buzzwords only to gain electoral traction. The saffron party indulges in such things when it wants to divert attention from real issues." Fadnavis' statement made last year on Gandhi and urban naxals created a national stir, with both national parties engaging in a prolonged verbal duel. Sapkal warned this failure to fulfil promises could have significant repercussions for the BJP-led Mahayuti in upcoming elections, including local body polls and major elections in 2029. "Instead of Ladki Bahin, we now have angry bahins. Our sisters have been fooled by BJP-led Mahayuti," he remarked, highlighting the growing discontent among women who feel let down by the govt's unfulfilled promises. In addition to the Ladki Bahin scheme, Sapkal criticised the govt's handling of the agricultural sector, particularly in providing relief to farmers affected by unseasonal rains. "Many farmers are still facing financial distress. It is very sad," he said, emphasising the need for immediate action to support those who lost their crops and struggling to make ends meet. Sapkal said there is growing unrest in the public because of corruption in Mahayuti. "Many public projects are being announced without any logic. It seems infrastructure projects are more for the benefit of contractors rather than the people, who have now seen through this facade," said Sapkal.

Modi govt has given Maha 10 times more than UPA: CM
Mumbai: Maharashtra benefited greatly in the 10 years of the Modi-led NDA govt than under the 10 years of UPA, CM Devendra Fadnavis said. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in the city as the Modi govt completed one year of its third term in office, Fadnavis said Maharashtra received Rs 1.23 lakh crore from the UPA govt in 10 years, while the Modi govt gave Rs 10.5 lakh crore, which was ten times over. "With the cooperation of the Modi govt, infrastructure projects worth Rs 6 lakh crore are ongoing in the state. Railway projects worth Rs 1.75 lakh crore are underway in the state. The Modi govt provided more funds for railways in one year than the UPA did in 10 years," he said, adding 30 lakh new houses have been approved for rural Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). "The first list of 20 lakh homes will be completed this year, and the Centre has suggested we prepare a new list of beneficiaries. This work will begin soon," he said. Listing out schemes implemented in the last decade, Fadnavis said direct benefits worth Rs 42 lakh crore have been provided so far, which include 81 crore people receiving free food since the pandemic, construction of 12 crore toilets, loans worth Rs 14,700 crore disbursed under the Mudra Yojana and Standup India and 55 crore new Jan Dhan accounts that were opened. He said 51 crore people benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and 77 crore accounts were registered under Ayushman Bharat. Pointing to the inclusive face of the Modi govt, Fadnavis said 60% ministers belong to Scheduled Castes and Tribes. He stated 45% beneficiaries in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 58% of various scholarships, and 51% in the Mudra Yojana are SC and ST. "Direct benefits to the underprivileged have lifted 25 crore people above the poverty line," he said. Comparing benefits obtained under UPA and NDA govts, Fadnavis said that in 10 years, the agricultural sector has grown fivefold. "Under the PM Kisan Yojana, Rs 3.7 lakh crore have been transferred to accounts of 11 crore farmers. The UPA govt announced a loan waiver of Rs 80,000 crore, the Modi govt provided Rs 3.7 lakh crore," he said. Women too have greatly benefitted with 3 crore 'lakhpati didis' across the country, 90 lakh self-help groups engaging 10 crore women, and paid maternity leave up from 12 weeks to 26 weeks, he said.
