Retired Seahawks OT Jason Peters accepts role with team
Seattle Seahawks veteran offensive tackle Jason Peters announced his retirement on Tuesday. The nine-time Pro Bowler spent a portion of the 2024 season on the Seahawks' practice squad. The team swiftly announced that he'll be transitioning into a back-end role with the organization. Peters has been named "Veteran Mentor," per the team.
The expectation is that Peters will work directly with Seattle's offensive linemen. Considering the state of the position group, Peters' veteran leadership and experience should benefit the O-line. The Seahawks possess a number of young blockers.
Center Olu Oluwatimi, guards Anthony Bradford, Sataoa Laumea, and Christian Haynes, and even tackles Charles Cross and Abe Lucas should benefit from working with Peters. Though the Seahawks are expected to acquire offensive linemen this offseason via free agency and the draft, new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and head coach Mike Macdonald have discussed receiving in-house improvement from their young players in 2025. Working with Peters could help lead to desirable results.
As things stand, Oluwatimi is locked into the starting role at center. Bradford, Laumea, and Haynes are competing for reps at right guard. Lucas is the unquestioned starter at right tackle, but needs to prove capable of staying healthy. Until the Seahawks acquire some potential starters this offseason, Peters will focus on improving the current group.

Seahawks all-time record vs AFC South: updated for 2025
Seahawks all-time record vs AFC South: updated for 2025 For the past two years, we at Seahawks Wire have been tracking the Seattle Seahawks' all-time records against every team in the NFL. It is important, we feel, to keep an updated log of Seattle's history and how they stack up with other squads in the league. We are resuming this ongoing series with updated records headed into the 2025 season. So far in this series, we have covered the NFC West and NFC South. In 2025, Seattle is also paired with teams from the AFC South. Interestingly enough, the NFC South and AFC South were the two divisions the Seahawks had to play during their legendary 2013 Super Bowl XLVIII championship season. Without further ado, here is how Seattle stacks up all-time in their rare meetings with these cross-conference foes. All-time record: Seattle leads the series 4-1 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 4-1 : Seattle leads the series 4-1 Postseason: N/A Longest win streak: the Seahawks are currently on a three-game winning streak over Houston, dating back to September 2013. Most recent outcome: December 12th, 2021 - the Seahawks obliterate the Texans 33-13 in their own building. The 2021 campaign was a lost one for Seattle, but the Seahawks finished strong. Running back Rashaad Penny bulldozed his way to 137 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the rout. All-time record: Baltimore/Indianapolis leads the series 7-6 Regular season : Baltimore/Indianapolis leads the series 7-6 : Baltimore/Indianapolis leads the series 7-6 Postseason: N/A Longest win streak: both teams' longest streak over the other is only two games in a row. The Colts have done this three times, both in Baltimore and Indianapolis. The Seahawks have won the last two meetings, dating back to October 2017... should they win in 2025, it will be the longest win streak by either team in the series. Most recent outcome: September 12th, 2021 - the Seahawks opened the eventually-doomed 2021 season with a solid 28-16 win over the Colts in Indianapolis. Carlos Dunlap tackling Carson Wentz in the header photo is a good reminder of how quickly life changes in the NFL. Jacksonville Jaguars All-time record: Seattle leads the series 6-3 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 6-3 : Seattle leads the series 6-3 Postseason: N/A Longest win streak: Seattle, two games twice... once from November 2000 to October 2001 and October 2009 to September 2013. Most recent outcome: October 31st, 2021 - the Seahawks claim their first home victory of the season on Halloween, scaring rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence with a 31-7 win over the listless Urban Meyer-led Jaguars. All-time record: Seattle leads the series 11-8 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 11-7 : Seattle leads the series 11-7 Postseason: the only time these two teams met in the playoffs was when the Titans were the Houston Oilers, but the win is still credited to Tennessee so they are 1-0 over the Seahawks Longest win streak: Seattle, five games, from December 1994 until December 2005. Most recent outcome: December 24th, 2023 - Seahawks keep their playoff hopes alive with a heroic comeback drive orchestrated by Geno Smith to escape Music City with a 20-17 win.

What Is Cowboys' Worst-Case Scenario For 2025?
What Is Cowboys' Worst-Case Scenario For 2025? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Right now, there are positive vibes flowing through The Star as Brian Schottenheimer's Dallas Cowboys vision is becoming clear to see. Advertisement But as we know, it doesn't take too much for those vibes to be replaced with negative ones. Yes, we are early in the offseason, and everyone looks like a Pro Bowler, so when the regular season rolls around, we will get to see the truest version of Schottenheimer's Cowboys. However, with everything seemingly rolling smoothly, the roster appears to be in good shape for the regular season. Dak Prescott and the offense have been upgraded, and so too has the defense. Expectations for Dallas in 2025 vary from playoffs to missing out altogether. But if the Cowboys are to return to the postseason, what is one thing that simply can't happen? Of all the bad things that could transpire, I offer this as what some might call the worst-case scenario, and I write this with fingers, toes, and anything else you can think of crossed. Advertisement Prescott goes down again. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) scrambles against the Atlanta Falcons in the third quarter at Mercedes-Benz Davis-Imagn Images Having not missed a single game in his first four seasons, of Dak's next five years, he's only played a full year twice. We saw last season how quickly things unraveled when Prescott tore part of his hamstring off the bone, and for Schottenheimer, he has to keep Dak on the field. No longer the running threat he once was, Dak can now hopefully lean on a run game that was non-existent last season, plus he has George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb as his go-to weapons. When Dak is healthy, Dallas is a playoff team. It is that simple. So, keeping him upright and out of the treatment room is crucial to any success the Cowboys hope to have in 2025. Advertisement He is approaching his 32nd birthday, so Dak is no spring chicken, but losing him again as the franchise did last season is nightmare fuel. For now, and the future, because that could be thrown into question as well. So, my friends, knock on wood, cross your fingers and toes that Mr. Prescott stays on the field. Because Dallas' success depends on it. Seahawks' 3 largest 2025 cap hits: defense
Seahawks' 3 largest 2025 cap hits: defense The Seattle Seahawks are currently equipped with $31.2 million in effective cap space, according to Over The Cap. General manager John Schneider has built a well-balanced squad, with no player scheduled to carry a salary number larger than $15 million in 2025. Having analyzed the financial situation, we've identified Seattle's three-largest cap charges on defense heading into training camp. Leonard Williams, DT Leonard Williams arguably enjoyed a career-best season for the Seahawks in 2024, recording 11.0 sacks. The Pro Bowler has Seattle's largest cap charge heading into 2025 at a little over $15 million. Williams is signed through 2026, but his contract could require reworking next summer due to its bloated nature ($29.6 million cap hit). Uchenna Nwosu, EDGE The Seahawks could have released Uchenna Nwosu this offseason for financial gain, but ultimately decided to give the oft-injured pass rusher another chance. He has Seattle's second-biggest cap charge on defense this season at $11.8 million. Nwosu is technically under contract through 2026, but it's truly a make-or-break year for him. Devon Witherspoon, CB Devon Witherspoon's cap number increases to $8.6 million in his third season. The former No. 5 overall selection will be eligible for a contract extension next summer, and the Seahawks will make a decision regarding his fifth-year option (it's a near-guarantee to be picked up).
