
Police interact with tourists, enquires about facilities in Masula Beach Festival
Police personnel patrolling on and off the shore were seen alerting tourists from entering the deeper parts of the the sea. Superintendent of Police R. Gangadhar Rao visited the beach and enquired with tourists from different places about the facilities and security provided for them.
The SP directed the Marine police, swimmers, Fire and the SDRF personnel to take all measures to prevent drowning. The swimmers explained to him that boats, life jackets, ropes, dragon lights and other life saving equipment have been readied.
Mr. Gangadhar Rao said public addressing systems have been arranged and drones and CCTV cameras were being used to prevent crime during the beach festival.
'Tight security has been arranged on the beach and enroute Manginapudi beach from Machilipatnam, particularly at night, and at the parking places' the police officers said.
'Instructions have been given to conduct foot and vehicle patrolling on the beach. Security has been stepped up at the bus and railway stations and at other public places across Machilipatnam,' the SP added.
Meanwhile, the SDRF and the Marine police have enhanced security on the beach as more tourists are expected to attend Masula Beach Festival on the last day on Sunday, the police said.

Ranya case: IPS officer Rao's compulsory leave revoked
Bengaluru: The state govt Monday revoked the compulsory leave order of director general of Police (DGP) K Ramachandra Rao and posted him as DGP, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement. Rao was sent on compulsory leave on March 15, days after his daughter, actress Harshavardhini Ranya, aka Ranya Rao, was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in a gold smuggling case. The govt had not mentioned any specific reason while sending the 1993 batch officer on leave. Ranya, caught with 14.2 kg of gold at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), has been lodged in the central prison at Parappana Agrahara. She was booked under the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act. Three killed, 6 injured as ambulance hits parked truck in UP's Bhadohi
Agency: Last Updated: August 11, 2025, 23:00 IST Representational image (Image: News18) Bhadohi (UP), Aug 11 (PTI) Three people including two women were killed while six others were injured on monday as an ambulance carrying a body from Delhi to Begusarai in Bihar rammed into a parked truck here, police said. Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik said the accident occurred on National Highway 19 here round 7 am. He said after the death of Varun Kumar (45) in a hospital in Delhi, his family members including his wife Neetu alias Shweta (36) and his elder sister Baby Kumari (45) were en route to Begusarai with the body. While Neetu and Baby Kumari died on the spot, Ajit later died during treatment in the hospital. Treatment of rest of the six is undergoing in Varanasi, he said. Karnataka govt withdraws compulsory leave imposed on IPS officer Ramachandra Rao
Last Updated: Bengaluru, Aug 11 (PTI) The Karnataka government on Monday appointed senior IPS officer K Ramachandra Rao as the DGP for Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, withdrawing the compulsory leave imposed on him following the arrest of his stepdaughter and actress Ranya Rao in connection with a gold smuggling case. Prior to this new role, he served as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation. 'The order of compulsory leave with respect to Dr K Ramachandra Rao, IPS (KN 1993) is hereby withdrawn and the officer is posted with immediate effect and until further orders as Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement in the upgraded vacant post," a government order said. The post of Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement is declared equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Special Units & Economic offences, Bengaluru under Rule 12 of IPS (Pay) Rules 2016 as included in Schedule Il of the said rule, it said. Rao was sent on compulsory leave in March. Ranya Rao (34) was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on March 3 upon her arrival at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport from Dubai, and gold bars worth Rs 12.56 crore were seized from her. The next day, the DRI said it seized gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and cash amounting to Rs 2.67 from her residence in Bengaluru. Ranya Rao was accused of misusing police escorts, provided to her in violation of rules, allegedly to evade Custom checks and checkout of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). The Karnataka government had formed a committee to probe the role of Ramachandra Rao, if any, in the alleged gold smuggling activity of his step daughter. He had appeared before the Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta-led committee for questioning.
